Great place, good location and good facilities in the hotel (gym, restaurant, sauna, etc.).
The hotel is located in a quiet location, and it's close to other restaurants, there's a Metro nearby.
Due to the massive traffic in Caracas I would recommend to leave the hotel around 3hs in advance just to make sure you'll arrive on time at the airport.

Caracas, a crazy, noisy, but beautiful city. The lovely Caracas Palace is a calm little enclave in the city.

The rooms were a good size, even in the standard. Huge beds, palatial bathrooms (with additional shower, not over bath), and many added features like a good writing desk and great TV.

The spa/gym/pool area was wonderful. During the weekdays there was a lovely member of staff who was helpful even though she must have been bored. The place was pretty much empty every day. However, the pool was clean, and everything well kept. The outdoor pool was a delight, and made my day, after a hot journey round the city. The additional indoor warm pool was also great, as was the sauna. The steam room was not working during my stay.

Sadly, when I was there the hotel was rather quiet, which led the staff to be rather quiet too. It meant that the restaurant was over staffed but under serviced.

However, the same could not be said about the breakfast staff who were attentive, they remembered me and my choices, and were a fantastic show of how service should be done.

Of course, this being Venezuela, the 'value' to anyone not paying in Bolivars was terrible. At a price of around £300+ per night, it represented the worst value ever seen. However, this is not the fault of the hotel, but of the shoddy exchange rates.

Oh, one last thing, the roads of Caracas are never still. Go as high as you can go, without a bloody nose. It still won't be quiet, but it sure will be better than floor 4.

Room Tip: Go high! The noise from the roads is horrific.

This is my second stay at the Palace.

I compare this to other stays at the Marriott, Embassy, Lidotel, Gran Melia and others.

The Caracas Palace is by far the best hotel in the city. North Americans and Europeans may be drawn to the familiar names of Marriott, Hilton, Renaissance, but those hotels have worse amenities, worse service, and are more expensive because they demand you pay with your credit card. Their rates ranges from $300 to $500.

The place lets you pay in Bolivares - change your US dollars with the hotel's taxi drivers, or others, and you will get $28 Bolivares rather than the official rate of 6.3. That makes the cost of this hotel about $130 a night, including breakfast, taxes and internet.

Service here is better than the other hotels. Superb service, excellent clean rooms. Wonderful pool/gym/steam room. I like the food here, and I am picky as a vegetarian and diabetic.

Great location at Altimira plaza.

Overall, I thought the Marriott had poor service and run-down rooms, the Lidotel is a dump with bad service, and ditto for the Gran Melia. The Renaissance is hugely overpriced at $400/night for a room you'd pay $150 a night for in the US.

Try the Caracas Palace, it really makes my like this city!!

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor, and if you are arriving before 3pm official check in, write to request early c...

I had a very comfortable stay in this hotel, which is located in one of the more pleasant (and safer) parts of Caracas.

I stayed in a double room, which was of a good size - immaculately clean, comfortable bed, cable TV with English language and Spanish channels, lots of storage space, in-room safe, a large bathroom with separate shower and a bath (which is pretty small).

Rooms also have a free internet connection, but in some rooms you can use wifi, in others it only works with a cable - you might want to think about this in terms of whether you bring a tablet or a laptop. Still, you can always use the wifi elsewhere in the hotel.

The hotel has a great pool, which is located on a terrace overlooking Altamira Square. The pool is of a good size, with plenty of space to lounge, and never seemed that busy. There is also a well-equipped gym.

The restaurant is not particularly adventurous - standard South American buffet for breakfast, with lots of fruit, cereals, eggs and meats. The lunchtime and evening meals on offer are decent - I'm not much of a foodie, so it was fine for me. I think if you're someone who wants first-class cuisine, you'll be disappointed.

The staff were pleasant - especially the maids - and were always happy to help. Caracas can be a dangerous city, but I felt safe here, and the hotel is directly opposite a metro station if you want to explore. I happily walked the surrounding neighbourhood during the day, and there are a number of cafes and bars close by - but don't get too complacent, as it can be dangerous at night, so keep your wits about you avoid walking at night if you can.

I would definitely stay here again - and if you choose to, ask for a room on a high floor, as there are some great views across the city from this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a high floor to make the most of the hotel's views over Caracas.

This is a luxuriously appointed hotel, nice rooms and pool area. Huge gym with new equipment. Front desk staff is good, bi-lingual, helpful, and check in has always gone smoothly.

Unfortunately, the excellent bar and restaurant "Diagonal" around the pool area has been closed down. That bar had some of the best drinks anywhere and the food was excellent.

The dining room on the 2nd floor is not near as good and is overpriced. Breakfast is OK, but my most recent experience with the restaurant was terrible. I ordered the filet mignon steak, medium rare, but received some sort of a square-shaped piece of beef that was well-done and tough. Appeared to be a piece of overcooked round steak. I sent it back and got another piece of meat that was not a filet, cooked medium. On the third attempt, I got a filet, but it was essentially raw with a warm mushroom sauce poured over it. This was beyond a bad kitchen---it was an insult. I returned the steak and refused to pay.

I also found it a bit incredible that the wait staff in the restaurants and bar speak no English. I can usually get by in Spanish, especially with menus and drinks, but the other two fellows in our party spoke no Spanish and had considerable difficulty ordering. Service was slow.

That was the last dinner or lunch I ate in the hotel. The next evening we walked to El Alazan de Altamira nearby and got an excellent steak, cooked medium rare, and it cost less that the atrocity I was served at the Caracas Palace. I emailed a complaint about the poor food to the hotel, but received no response. Surely in a city the size of Caracas, this hotel can afford to hire a real chef, or at least one who can grill a steak?? I was ready to go back in the kitchen and grill the steak myself.

Room Tip: Cjheck your hot water when you arrive. Let it run for at least 10-15 minutes if you don't have...

This hotel was in an ideal location, centrally located with several nice restaurants and shops close by. The hotel itself was of a very high standard and the reception staff were attentive and professional. Unfortunately the same can not be said about the waiting staff in the restaurant. Slow to react most of the time, the breakfast crew were clearly uninterested and not enjoying being on the morning watch! Lunchtime was no different where I waited almost an hour for my meal to be served - which is amazing considering I was the only person in the restaurant.
The rooms were very well appointed but I was disappointed that there was no wi-fi available and had to rely on an ethernet cable which restricted movement.
The swimming pool was magnificent and such a welcome sight at the end of a very busy day. The fitness and wellness facilities were also excellent as were the staff.
I was there for 5 days and despite the the comments made about the restaurant services I would highly recommend this hotel for the accommodation service provided.

Room Tip: If you choose a room on the 8th or 10th floor you are only floor walking distance from the pool and...

I spent two weeks in the Caracas Palace Hotel while on a three month business trip to Venezuela. The hotel was fantastic; from the comfort of the room to the overall property facilities. I felt safe as can be and enjoyed their fine location as well as the ever helpful staff. An exquisite experience. I was there at the end of Sept. of 2012 to the first week of October 2012,for two weeks just prior to the election. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone. I have travelled for thirty years on business worldwide, and this has to be one of the nicest hotels and experiences I have had while on the road. The other 2 and 1/2 months in Venezuela was spent in a remote area with limited choices, while working on different power plant projects. Given a choice, I would have been glad to have spent the entire three months at the Caracas Palace Hotel.

Room Tip: I was on the 12th floor with a view of the hotel pool below and a wonderful view of the Altimira Par...
