“The place for a real family Christmas.”
Reviewed 11 January 2018 for a stay in December 2017

We spent Christmas and New Year in the Ancient Barn and found it to be a cosy home for a relaxed three-generation Christmas break (3 to 67 years old!). We kept the welcoming wood burner going throughout our stay - so lovely to come home to. We chilled out in the house, walked around the lake and took the children to the play area on a couple of days - just enjoying the peace and tranquillity of the barn’s rural location. No need to get in the car and rush out anywhere. Thank you Nikki and Miles for being such lovely hosts and for the beautiful Christmas tree. It was wonderful - the barn felt so atmospheric .. and Pere Noel visited too!! (Thank you.) It was a lovely place to spend a family Christmas... and the beds were really comfortable.

Thank you so much. It was a real pleasure to meet you and hope we can meet again.
So glad you all had a relaxing Christmas. I always think it's a great place for extended family get togethers....comfortable social space but with room to be alone if you choose. Thanks again, Niki and Miles.

“Ideal location for a truly relaxing base to a Brittany Holiday”
Reviewed 4 September 2017 for a stay in August 2017

The Accommodation is awesome, with a homely feel as soon as you walk through the Door, Log burning Fire (if required) BBQ, Table tennis and the outdoor Heated pool which was the biggest hit with the children (aged 9,11,13,15) The location is Rural, perfect for a relaxing base. The town of Langonnet is a very pleasant walk (about 20-25 mins) and has a range of Shops (butchers, Bakers, TABAC, bars and even a Pizza Take-Away which opens Friday evening which works out great to avoid cooking when you are leaving Saturday morning).
Niki & Miles are great hosts, really Friendly and helpful too.
Saint Barbe Church is a must see (about 10 mins away) and I recommend the Rouge Beer in the adjacent Tavern after ringing the Bell. Langonnet Abbey is also great, Pontivy is a real medieval village and worth a Visit.
A little further but still close enough to visit and perfect for kids, are the beaches around Lorient, Branfere Animal Park, Kingoland and Carnac.
Highly recommended

It really was our pleasure. Your family were an absolute delight and we certainly hope to see you again. I think the St Barbe bell is a must do. It's a shame you didn't get to the little bar with the live music in Le Faouet...next time maybe.

“Wonderful”
Reviewed 1 August 2017 for a stay in July 2017

We can't praise the owners enough. They sent us detailed directions how to get there, most helpful. On arrival we were greeted by them,a lovely couple who had already left wine and fresh eggs for us but after making sure we were comfortable, returned with Jam, butter and homemade bread.
The Cottage was just as we had hoped for, set in a large secluded garden it was just perfect for the Grandchildren to play safely. But the icing on the cake was the pool, large and pleasantly warm, we all swam most days.
We all agreed it was a lovely cottage and would not hesitate to recommend it to other families.

“Absolute Bliss”
Reviewed 20 June 2017 for a stay in June 2017

We arrived yesterday, and we can't get over how perfect it is!
Our toddler has had a wail of a time in the pool, the walk around the lake was beautiful after dinner. Sitting out on the decking until 11pm listening to nature do its thing was so truly relaxing!
We really can't get over how amazing it's been & we still have the rest of the week!

Thanks so much for your review. It means a lot to us that our guests have a good time.
We always think that the evenings on the decking, with the sun going down, are one of the most special and relaxing times.
Hopefully, we will see you again in the future.
Regards
Niki and Miles

“Amazing place!”
Reviewed 2 June 2017 for a stay in May 2017

We spent 2 weeks at The Ancient Dwellings & loved every minute. The barn is beautiful and is home from home. The setting is perfect with the garden and pool. Miles & Niki are the most kind and friendly hosts. My children aged 13 & 9 both adored it here and everything that France has to offer.

All rooms are lovely & a gorgoues farmhouse style. Ample of space. The location is quiet and peaceful which is what we wanted after tough year.

We would love to come again & highly recommend to anyone.

“An amazing place with creative friendly hosts”
Reviewed 23 November 2016 for a stay in May 2016

We had a fabulous stay at the the Ancient dwelling. It has so much charm and displays the affection shown to it by its lovely owners. Nikki could not do enough for us. I was astounded to see how creative they both were and loved the fact that they shared there talents and the love for the area. Together they have created the ideal haven for those who love nature.
My daughters loved the pool, chickens and countryside.
we enjoyed regular visits to the local tabac and boulangerie which were not far away from the house.
Thank you for such a wonderful stay xxxxx
