“A life-changing experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 June 2014

From arrival through departure, Chief's Camp stole our hearts. Knowing "customer service" intimately, I maintain that Evelyn and her extremely cohesive and charming team deserve the rating of 'exceptional'. It's one thing to be gracious to guests, it's another to bring together a group of individuals who are gracious without guile. The experience left us feeling "hugged" from beginning to end.
Evelyn, Aaron, Monks, Girlie, Wyme, Woodpecker - the Chef, the beautiful girl in the curio shop, Ishmael, Shanda and BENSON, of course - along with others whose names escape me at the moment - made our adventure on Chief's Island "out of this world". Benson's dry wit is worth the 16 hr flight TO Africa! The individual units, the food, the drives - the ANIMALS, the Delta, the Mokoro, the people - we can't wait to visit again. Absolutely a stellar experience!

Me and my family had a wonderful time here. We had the most amazing safaris as we got to see the big 5 in our three-nights stay and some other beautiful animals. The bedrooms were very quiet, as we got to stay on the ones further from the main areas. Our guide, Benson, was very careful, attentive and polite; always concerned about our best interests, he got to show us the most beautiful and important species. I can't recall the hotel manager's name but she deserves to be recognized as she was always looking up for our comfort and satisfaction. Efa, our waitress, was always very helpful and kind. Overall we had an awesome time, the accommodation fulfilled our expectations (beautiful and luxury tents in the bush), and so did the restaurant catering (very good meals, and very well scheduled). We couldn't ask for more and we'd recommend it for sure!

Room Tip: If you don't feel like walking don't take the rooms nr. 1 and 2, since they are quite far fr...

We arrived at Chief's Camp from Duba Plains. The game viewing was excellent from the start with a pride of lions. Martin was our guide and he made sure we missed nothing. We saw 2 different leopards on the same day! We didn't see the rhino -- Martin sure did try! We took the helicopter ride -- Henry, the pilot, is knowledgeable and an good guide, too. (Recommend you do this even at the extra expense.) We went on a "wild dog chase" and the dogs led us back to the watering hole where we started. The wild dogs did spook an African Civet out of the sage brush. We watched lions attack a buffalo herd and the buffalo turned back chasing the lions away. While waiting for our plane ride out, we were greeted at the air strip by 2 lionesses and 2 cubs. Evelyn, camp manager, was gracious, accomodating, and flexible with our meal time requests.

Imagine a place where elephant families wade across the Okavanga Delta in full view at lunch, a hippo can greet a guest just outside their elegant "tent" room, lion roars could keep Rip Van Winkle awake--and all of it is the real deal. The trackers are amazing (thanks Sky), the management cannot be better (thanks Evelyn), the food terrific (yay Woody). The Big Five are there, and the trackers will find them. We saw all 5 in one morning. The fortunate will be there for a barbecue around the campfire and for a wonderful performance of Botswana music by the very talented staff, who by the way are responsible for making Chief's a totally wonderful experience. Recommend planning an African trip around availability, here.

I stayed with my family during the 1st week of May and was blown away by the experience. This was the best camp in Botswana. It lives up to its reputation as the " Predator capital of Botswana".On landing at the airstrip our guide Martin saw some vultures on a tree close by. So he drove us there and we saw around 8 lions with cubs feasting on an impala. Great sighting indeed !. In the evening we saw an Leopard and lion encounter. We also managed to see the Rhino here as Chief's island is the only place where they have reintroduced Rhino's in Botswana. The game viewing is the best here. The camp is in a lovely location and very comfortable. The tents are luxurious. The food is great. You will see elephants, warthogs etc move around the camp. As it is priced much lesser than its neighbour Mombo camp this camp offers excellent value for money. Go for it !

We had a great time at Chief's camp. The game viewing was excellent. At one spot we could see, elephant, water buffalo and rhino all at the same time. The guide - sky - was great and made every effort to find the animals. It is always a pleasure to be in the bush. The rooms were nice but a little dated and could use bit of a refurbishment. The food was good, but not the quality of the other camps we visited in Botswana.
