“Absolutely gorgeous and wonderful!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 March 2014

My husband stayed in many nice hotels during our month long trip in Argentina and Uruguay but nothing compared to our amazing experience at Altalaluna. The most beautiful, tranquil setting we could have ever imagined. What a lovely hotel with excellent service! We weren't sure whether or not it was a good idea to stay 15 minutes from Cafayate but so glad we made the choice. Being surrounded by vineyards and mountains while sitting by the pool, riding a bike, using the spa facilities or dining by candlelight on the terrace - it was amazing! We had one of our best dinners at this hotel and brought some of their wine home. We wished we could have stayed longer. It is hard for us to believe this hotel is rated #6. We loved it!

Room Tip: All the rooms have either a balcony or a terrace with chairs. Don't think there is a bad room. T...

I love it! The propietors had vision. These are the gems that a tourist only wished they stumbled on. Serene environ, scrumptious local cuisine with Ticma brsnds finest wines. The rooms are ample and comfortable. Excelente! Sundays are the parrilla scene.

We spend Christmas Eve here and we are more than pleased with our stay, to the point that we regret not booking a second night. The place is absolutely beautiful and as nice, if not better, than pictures. We ate all our meals there as well as everything, including the wine, was incredible. You can't miss this place!

Altalaluna is really near a tiny tiny place called Tolombon, and is about a 15 minute drive from Cafayate. It is such a lovely property and they have a cute spa too. It was great to have a sauna after the pool. The gym has wonderful views too!
I thought the staff were great. The rooms are simple but lovely. They each have a veranda.
We spent new year's here and it was a blast. Great dinner and then it turned into an awesome place to dance.

The setting is perfect. The food is good. The grounds are fabulous, and the spa a bonus. A truly lovely place to spend a couple nights!

Cafayate is a wine region and staying at a vineyard is a delightful experience. We drove from Salta to this hotel. It was the best experience of our lives, a two hour drive that turned into a four hour journey with many stops for photographs! Colorful vistas, wild horses and friendly people, everywhere. Cafayate is a pleasant town, easy to drive and park, with many good restaurants and vineyards, all over the area. The Altalaluna is situated outside of town. It is a very charming place, the room was nice, clean. The surroudings are beautiful, with vineyards and the Andes as a background. Our dinner was excellent and our waiter, althought limited English was charming and just got the service perfect. A great experience overall and a highly recommended place to stay during a trip to Cafayate.

Room Tip: We had room #1 (or 101?), it was on the street side and I wish the room was facing the courtyard, it...

The buildings and setting are excellent : nice spacious rooms, beautiful public spaces. It is a bit of a drive to Cafayate too. may or may not be included, but I would suggest you decline, quality of meat is lacking. One better cut of meat was cold when it hit the table. The Internet speed as slow as one can imagine. It took 30 seconds to move from one page to the next. The excuse by management is that they are too far from a city to get fast internet. Either get a better system or do not claim you have it. It only frustrates guests. The main manager seemed to care less. In general much of the staff seemed to be slow and not caring. I have stayed here twice. If you want a room this posada is fine. If you want a good "posada" experience, pass on this. I feel bad for the workers, the management has not bothered to study or implement real management. I gave them a second chance - shame on me!

Room Tip: Be careful with rooms as mosquito on the top floors were in rooms. Management must know - rooms had...

This hotel is in a wonderful setting amongst lovely gardens surrounded by vineyards. We had a very comfortable room with views to the mountains. The dinner choices were good, I had ravioli one night and steak the other. Local wines were also delicious, as guided by the waiter. It is a short drive to Cafayete which is quite the most charming town, with a lovely square surrounded by restaurants and cafes. Had a lovely bowl of Locro in one of them.

Room Tip: We stayed in a larger room - I would imagine the standards are okay but a little small.
