We traveled around the Salta area in August 2018 and stayed for 2 night at this amazing hotel and ate at its great restaurant as well. We enjoyed a villa which was as spacious and luxurious as it can get. Everything was super clean, well maintained and well equiped. The hotel, restaurant, service and grounds are all spectacular. I rarely feel amazed by hotels as i get to travel regulary, but you clearly exceeded our expectations! Perfect!

Room Tip: The villas are great!

Grace Cafayate is beautifully located in a vineyard outside of Cafayate. The buildings are stunning and super modern. We stayed in a villa deluxe, which is a flat on two floors with terrace and balcony.
The staff were all really friendly and helpful. The breakfast is very varied and of good quality.

However, some aspects did not meet our expectations for a hotel that by Argentinian standards was very expensive:

1) Feeling of a tourist trap: exorbitant mini bar prices quoted in USD, e.g. 7USD for a 50cl still water while you can get a 1.5L for 30 pesos in any supermarket. For a single Nespresso capsule that was available in the kitchen, the price list quoted 5USD (!). In other hotels this was provided free of charge. This is absolutely not in line with the other ~5 high-quality hotels we stayed in during our Argentina holiday.

2) Recommendations: When asked for a dinner recommendation, the staff advised us to go to Bad Brothers, where we would get a welcome drink with a voucher from Grace. Upon arrival, we realised that this was not an authentic Argentinian restaurant, but rather an international one offering chicken fingers and Asian noodle tapas. As the only other guests also came from Grace, we had the impression that the recommendation must have been based on some kind of agreement between the hotel and the restaurant.

3) Cleanliness: the bath wasn’t really clean (one hair was in it and some dead insects) and a pack of cigarettes was hidden in the flat from previous guests. After asking the reception to clean the bath and remove the cigarettes, the cleaning team did not manage to find the cigarettes despite our indication.

4) Security: Upon arrival we immediately noticed that the terrace door on the ground floor did not lock, so that anybody could come in from outside. We notified the reception in the afternoon but by the next morning still nobody had showed up to fix it. Therefore, our belongings were not safe for almost half of our two-day stay.

I am happy that we only spent one night here. Our room wasn’t ready when we arrived , we were kindly given a glass of wine . However we waited and hour and since we were only staying one night and check in was at 3 , I feel we lost a lot of time. Our room had a beautiful view of the vineyards however I think the mosquitos loved that too, we were inundated with them.
In my opinion the hotel is too modern therefore it doesn’t fit in with the landscape .

The location of Grace is absolutely gorgeous, in a wine vineyard a few km south of town. And the staff was very nice and accommodating, they answered all of our questions and helped with some restaurant recommendations. The building is also very nice, it was obviously built recently and is kept up very well. Unfortunately the room we were staying in did not have a functioning air conditioner. We talked to the front desk about it and twice they sent a repairman to our room to attempt to fix it, to no avail. Ultimately the evenings got cool enough for us to open the windows to try and cool down a bit, but we had to sacrifice getting bit by mosquitos all night for the comfort. The room was unbearably hot during the day, so we made sure to be out and about in the town instead. Even after talking to the front desk 4 different times about the A/C, they weren't able to fix it and never offered to move us to another room or give us a discount on the room we stayed in. Ultimately if we go back to Cafayate we would probably give it another try, but for the cost of the rooms in comparisons to others in the area, we expected far better than we received this trip.

We are high in vineyards and the rare air of the Andes, and clouds to the west each afternoon shade the malbec vines every day- naturally. And an exciting place here, and while we visit vineyards, El Esteco, Piatelli and Finca Quara, we stay at villas in Grace Resort; huge rooms, bathrooms over-equipped past luxury, the inevitable bide, vistas to vines, and the Andes beyond. Calming, An eco hotel using local plants, trees and ground cover to keep the arrival views to be rural and rustic. A dry place here. Comfortable. Lots of villas.

Breakfast is a la carte. Great service, choice, excellent fruit which drives the day and hours of wine tasting all day.

One great stay.
