“What a gem of an island...paradise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 May 2014

Wow, what an awesome little find this place was ! A great island paradise with plenty of time to relax, unwind and enjoy the sunshine and crystal clear water. My wife and I went to Bokissa last week for our 26th wedding anniversary and thoroughly enjoyed our 5 night get away.
The food was superb and plentiful, especially the 2 nights we enjoyed lobster for dinner. We also had a private dinner on the jetty to celebrate our anniversary which was a great treat!
Like others have stated, a day trip to Malo river is a must, kayaking up the river to the blue hole for a swim and then bbq lunch on a secluded beach, doesn't get much better than that. On the way back we snorkelled and were luck enough to see 5 sea turtles, a sting ray and reef shark.
The snorkelling overall at Bokissa was excellent with great coral and colourful fish.
The staff are very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. A special shout out to Alan, Jonah, Brian and Skippy for their excellent service and looking after us. Also thanks again Skippy for bringing the coconut crab in for us to view :)
The last couple of days we were visited by a couple of Dugongs who made their way in close which was great to see.
Overall a very memorable experience, highly recommended and we met some great people while we were away who we enjoyed having breakfast, lunch and dinner with each day.

Room Tip: We upgraded and stayed in fare number 15 which was at the end of the island and had a spa, deck and...

The Fures are very comfortable , right on the beach. The snorkelling is amazing. The staff are very friendly and we even played them in a volleyball friendly!! Walk the Island, snorkel for hours, play games, do one of the many tours available or swing in the hammock and read a book, it's your choice. Meals are very well done, food always fresh. We will be back.

Room Tip: All Fures are beach front. Wi-Fi is available in the main building.

Stayed 6 nights last week. This is the place to go to get away from everything, very relaxing. The staff were all friendly and willing to help, nothing was too much trouble. Food was great, we had steak and lobster and really liked dining with other guests. You can snorkel straight off the beach or organise a boat to take you to one of the reefs and snorkel back to shore, there is always one of the staff in the water with you looking after your safety. The diving is tremendous, prices are similar to Australia. We dove the President Coolidge, Million Dollar Point and the North Reef. Thanks to Dive Master Rasu for looking after us so well on all dives, our safety was always paramount. Recommend the Malo river kayak trip, true wilderness experience. If conditions permit snorkel with the Turtles on the way back. Thanks Alan and all the team at Bokissa, We loved our island holiday and will be back again.

Room Tip: We had fare 14, a double but only used one side. Nice and roomy with a great deck and steps to the w...

We loved everything about Bokissa Eco resort . Very warm welcome, the people friendly and helpful (especially Evelyn) the food was excellent, the snorkelling, the peace, all great.
Only sad thing was we had to leave.

Room Tip: Fares closest to beach better but all good

What a perfect island getaway. We stayed on Bokissa for 3 nights in a beachfront fare which we found to be comfortable and clean and serviced daily. Everything about the place, the beach, the staff was awesome. We loved the way of communal dining, it was a great way to meet the other guests and to share stories of what we all did for the day. You can chose to eat alone but we chose not to. The meals were fantastic, not once did we go hungry, The only minor thing I would say is if there were paths that lead to each fare, otherwise overall its a fantastic place to completely relax. Highly recommended by us.

Stayed here for 5 nights recently (April/May 2014). Wow! It is a great relaxing holiday destination. We were picked up from the airport, transferred to the port and onto a boat to arrive at Bokissa. There were about 6 other couples on the island.
The cabins are very comfortable. The bathroom is quite large although I was disappointed with the soaps, shampoo and conditioner - was expecting local supplies. The bed was quite hard as the other guests had commented but I slept good anyway. The airconditioner is available from 8pm to 6am but we didn't need to use it. There are windows with screens all around and fitted with wooden shutters. It is quite difficult to see your way back to the cabin of a night time as it is really dark (perhaps take a torch). A mini bar is also provided.
The food was great. I wasn't sure what to expect but found out you have to order your food at breakfast time. We paid a small amount for a cooked breakfast each morning (the omelettes are great). Otherwise you have a choice of 3 types of cereal, bread, fruit. Breakfast is from 7am to 9.30. Lunch is served at 12 noon which for us was a bit to early considering if you have breakfast at say 8.30 or 9am. And then such a long gap until dinner which is at 7pm. The meals were all excellent and huge servings. Soup is on the menu every night, followed by main course and then desert. I would ask the staff to glad wrap my fruit salad and I would take it back to the cabin and put it in the fridge for later. That way I was never hungry.
The day trip to Malo is great. A kayaking trip up stream, swim in the blue hole and then kayak back down. BBQ lunch included on the beach at Malo. Snorkelling at another reef to see turtles.
We also did a day trip to Santo and up to Champagne Beach plus other places including another bluer water hole, snorkelling at a fantastic reef and lunch at Point Olry. The resort does pack a lunch for you if you do this trip plus cold water. They will supply an esky if you want to take beer. The resort will organise this day trip for you but you do have to pay extra to get to the mainland, we chose the tinny which was about $40 each way which is quite reasonable and a smooth ride.
Walking around the island is great through the rainforest (especially when it rained). The reefs around the island are so clear and the snorkelling is great. We kayaked around and it took about half and hour. The pool area is lovely. The entire island is lovely. Quiet, peaceful and relaxing. Would I go back again? Well worth going again but we probably wont as we try to go and explore different places each holiday. Not much to complain about, the only negative for me was the set eating times.

We had a great time at Bokissa Island , the resort area has a beautiful beach and the water is crystal clear. The snorkelling is excellent right off the front of the beach and sunsets are spectacular from the main jetty. The food was great and it has a large swimming pool, air-conditioning automatically comes on in the rooms from 8pm - 6am.
