We stayed in an ensuite safari tent with an outdoor bathroom - very comfortable with a nice outlook over the river. Good restaurant and bar area and wifi only works here, not in tents. There is a kitchen outside, but while we were there it was quite dirty and we had to clean everything before we could use it. Did an overnight mokoro trip which was good, but think longer than that would be too much. Saw a lot of game on the morning walking safari.

Room Tip: En suite tents are quiet and comfortable

I really liked it here. I stayed in both a safari tent and the dorm and was very impressed with both. The dorm has single beds - not bunk beds!! The toilet and shower facilities are lovely, in fact the outdoor showers are like something you would get at a private game lodge.

Finally the bar and restaurant are great - though the restaurant menu could benefit from a few more vegetarian choices. The bar gets a really nice mix of guests and locals meaning your conversation can extend beyond the usual "where have you been and where are you going" and you can get a bit of a feel for what it might be like to live in Botswana.

An excellent good value choice.

We arrived late in the evening and got the last two beds, luckily! We also were able to book a tour on the Delta the next day. The bar and kitchen just closed down, which was a pity because no we didn't have dinner. However, the room and ambiance were great. So glad we stayed here!

If you are on a budge trip I would highly recommend the old bridge backpackers.

The owners and staff went out of their way to assist us during our visit and the facilities were clean and nice.

We stayed in a double chalet with ensuite which suited our needs well. These are set up in large tents with a roof covering to make them permanent - you can't lock these up - however all our belongings were safe during our stay.

We did a modified kayak safari which I would recommend for active people. All those we passed on 1+ day mokoro trips looked quite bored with the slow pace - although doing a short one is a good experience.

Food / kitchen and bar was good quality. Bar is cash only - you can pay in most nearby currencies however they will give you an average exchange rate and change in Pula.

Make sure you organise activities during the day as there isn't much to do nearby during the day!

It was a peaceful place at night to our surprise, we were in room #5 it was about 100m away from the main area so this could have helped in keeping the noise level down.

Room Tip: If you are after a double bed - specify this as there is only one of the chalet's that has a dou...

What a great location! Our 'room' was a lovely tent with very comfortable beds. The showers were clean and hot.
Food was excellent, plus there is a very well stocked bar! The clientele is a mix between travellers and local friends of the owners which created a mixed vibe. Overall though its a great place ti relax and take in the delta.
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly.

My friend and I had the amazing experience of booking our mobile safari with the Old Bridge (November 2013). As two female travelers in our early 30s on our first trip to Africa we had no idea what to expect- but the staff at the old bridge really blew us away.

The accommodations at the Old Bridge are basic, but should be perfect for any road warriors or travelers with some mileage under their belts. We stayed in a private tent next to the river. It was clean, comfortable and we both felt safe. The only downside was the noise from the tent next door but this would be expected from any campground type facility. The public washrooms were very clean and the food at the bar was fantastic (the beef curry was amazing.) All of the staff were very friendly and professional. In fact, the staff there helped us a great deal with problems that we were experiencing with our transfer operator. They had nothing to gain from this assistance, but still fought to ensure that our entire African experience was excellent- even after we left their hands.

As for the safari itself- it far exceeded what we could have ever hoped for. My friend and I are both avid campers and well traveled people but the set up each night was beyond what we expected. (There is NOTHING like a bush shower first thing in the morning while you watch a hippo a few feet away) All our our guides were very competent, friendly and knowledgeable. The food was wonderful and most of the sites were perfect. With the exception of a sleepless first night we felt very safe each night (well- as safe as you can feel with hippos and hyenas prowling around next to you!) The best part for us was the sense of isolation and adventure-something some friends who did self drives did not seem to experience.

We would highly recommend the Old Bridge if you are looking for basic accommodations. I would also recommend them for self drivers who are looking for an interesting place to have a drink and relax. I would not recommend it for anyone interested in Top Tier accommodation- it definitely has a backpacker vibe.

I would HIGHLY recommend booking a safari though the Old Bridge if you are looking for adventure, enjoy camping and are a relaxed individual.

Room Tip: We stayed in an en-suite tent which was comfortable and clean

We chose this place through the Lonely Planet. Got there by combi with our big muchillas, and had to walk the last kilometer. But when we arrived, it turned out to be a very nice place, with a good atmosphere. Staff was helpful in arranging our almost immediate flight over the Okavango Delta (different review). Met also some nice travellers (Benny and Kasper from Germany) whom we'll keep on meeting in Namibia and South Africa.
We camped with our tent under a tree, and were already on our way, next early morning. Took a cab that brought us to the best hitch-hiking location towards Namibia.
