I've spent plenty of time in bad hotels and plenty of time in cheap hotels. Sometimes cheap means bad and sometimes it means cheerful. But in Lamerta's case expensive means cheerless.

The room is okay with plenty of space and an ensuite - complete with dieing cockroach. But for $70 you'd expect the fridge to work, the TV to have more than 2 channels and the shower to have a fixing - cockroaches I'm used to and glad they didn't charge extra for the company. To be honest I don't need any of these things, but for seventy bucks and as they're supplied you'd expect them to work - other than the cockroach, I was glad he was dead.

The staff are very pleasant but terribly managed. Everything takes an age to materialise and takes repeated enquiries. The food is mediocre and the breakfast is dull. I also don't understand why they decided to lie to me about milk not being available in Kumasi. Also, I hope you like Nescafe with your breakfast - just don't tell the cockroach all he got was Doom!

None of it is terrible, it's just not enough to warrant the ridiculous price. If it were half the price I wouldn't be so bothered.

Room Tip: A good room? I think they're all as mediocre as each other. Perhaps ask the cockroach?

The staff were very helpful. Check in was excellently handled but the room was a big let down. The standard room was basic but spacious. Bathroom stunk like sewage so we asked to be moved but they were fully occupied. We were promised a move the next day.
White bed sheets had a lot of stains and thank God we had our own towels. My wife described their towels as worse than rags. They probably were white 5 years ago but I can't tell you what color they are now.
We were upgraded to another room which was bigger but the same issues were apparently- smelly bathroom. I noticed that the extractor fan wasn't working. The door handle to the balcony was loose and the bed
was too noisy to lie on.
This can potentially be a very nice hotel if they spend some money to bring the rooms to a better standard. Maame Ama one of the managers has promised to up their game. Only time and another visit will tell.
