I've spent plenty of time in bad hotels and plenty of time in cheap hotels. Sometimes cheap means bad and sometimes it means cheerful. But in Lamerta's case expensive means cheerless.
The room is okay with plenty of space and an ensuite - complete with dieing cockroach. But for $70 you'd expect the fridge to work, the TV to have more than 2 channels and the shower to have a fixing - cockroaches I'm used to and glad they didn't charge extra for the company. To be honest I don't need any of these things, but for seventy bucks and as they're supplied you'd expect them to work - other than the cockroach, I was glad he was dead.
The staff are very pleasant but terribly managed. Everything takes an age to materialise and takes repeated enquiries. The food is mediocre and the breakfast is dull. I also don't understand why they decided to lie to me about milk not being available in Kumasi. Also, I hope you like Nescafe with your breakfast - just don't tell the cockroach all he got was Doom!
None of it is terrible, it's just not enough to warrant the ridiculous price. If it were half the price I wouldn't be so bothered.
