“Great time in Kaskazi”
Reviewed 23 April 2012

We have just returned from Kenya and stayed for 7 nights in Kaskazi. The hotel is great. We are not much demanding, so we were satisfied with this hotel. Also, all the services were perfect. At the time of our stay, the hotel loading was approx 10% (because of official rain season start), so everything was immediately accessible for us and we didn't need to wait for anything. The hotel staff is very nice and smiley, even if there is just a few tourists. Food offer was also very good. We enjoyed a lot of seafood there. Nothing to complain. It's true, that our room may would need a renovation, but we were fine with that. More demanding people wouldn't be probably satisfied. For us, the time spent in Kenya was more dedicated to various outside activities (as safari, swimming, sunbathing, trips...etc), so we didn't care about the room much.

Local beach boys are really annoying and gives you no chance to relax on the beach. But that's already outside of the hotel...

The beach itself isn't the best one, as the ocean takes it gone approx twice per day....Then of course, it's full of sea grass etc...The hotel staff tried to clean that every morning, but it's hard to succeed with this job. We've been told, there are wonderfull beaches near the hotel, but you know...the beach boys...

Room Tip: We've got the room in southern wing of the hotel. This side is pretty quiet, as it's far fro...

Stayed at the Kaskazi for a total of 8 nights. First two nights in a fairly good room but for the remaining six nights (after our safari) we had a room that really needed a renovation.

Food okay most of the meals.
Entertainment varied, some nights OK, others not.
Pool area fairly good but the beach is not very nice (stone and corals).
Since the hotel were among the travel agents cheepest hotels it was worth the money but I would probably stay at another hotel if we were to return to Diani beach.

Room Tip: The rooms above the restaurant were in better condition than the ones on the northern flank.

We stayed at this hotel in April 2011 and we had a great time. The Management and staff really work hard to make the experience of the guests great. They had lots of activities for the guests during the day and the entertainment in the evenings was awesome. The food was really good. We had a very nice and relaxing time there.

Room Tip: rooms all face the ocean. You get a better view from rooms that are higher up.

We stayed at this hotel for Christmas and new year 2011 to 2012. It was excellent and the management and staff made it a beautiful time for us. The food and drinks were great and the entertainment fab. There was a lot of effort for the customers benefit. We have not stayed in a hotel who made so much effort over the festive period. This hotel is certainly one to re visit.

Room Tip: Top floor was good, but over kitchen, very nice view, going back I would prefer a room on the top fl...

We had a woderfull year end in Kaskazy. The hotel is excellent, nicely furnished room, was cleaned daily. Good and friendly staff in the restaurant in the garden and also the entertainment team. We eat fantastic meals all time. The only problem is the beach but 10 minutes walk on the white sand can be found a good place for swimming. I can recommend it and would go back.

mombasa as a city is beautiful as far as the beaches go.more specifically, the south coast(diani) is considered the jewel of mombasa.thats why we were really looking forward to stay in mombasa.little did we know that the hotel we'd booked at was far from good!upon arriving, we reported straight to the reception. The receptionist was not very forth coming and was abit hesitant in serving us and even though we'd paid for our 2night stay in full before arrival, he couldnt even confirm that...obviously, shows how the management works!next, they put bands on our arms as though we were in hospital...really takes away the holiday feel...we were then escorted to our rooms and on the way where, the staff member mentions in part of his conversation that the hotel is under receivership...now, my review illustrates just how these guys are minimising costs at the expense of the holiday-maker (which is you and me...unfortunately).the room was dated.small and furniture was old too.the bath tub was all old and handles rusted.water was not flowing out well.only thing new in there was the ac unit.we decided to check out the beach.it was all full of coral.literally.you could not even walk on the beach without slippers. Next, we go back to the pool/bar area.all the pool beds and chairs are taken up by some very arrogant germans who've obviously visited this hotel on its cheap offer.the all inclusive drinks were really not even worth having.if you went for bottled soda, then they served this to you in dirt stained plastic tumblers...all in all a real put off...dinner was again below average.staff was not happy looking at.oh forgot to mention, i'd ordered tea at about 4pm.normally you'd expect the color of freshly made tea to be light brown.what i was given was far from fresh.it was like dark tan.we went to look for another hotel and ended up staying at southern palms, where we found attention to every detail. I would never even think of visiting this hotel even if they offered stay for free.

For those who want to explore the Diani Beach night life, take one of our resort’s taxi cabs to the famous Ali Barbour and The Forty Thieves beach bar and dance club located only a five minute drive from the resort. There you can dance under the stars and directly on the white sands of Diani Beach.
