We stayed three nights at Home Inn, combining some downtime with gorilla trekking. We arrived late in the evening, but the kitchen made accommodations for us by grilling up some pork and chips on one big plate for my friend and me. Combined with Mutzig beer, it was a perfect way to start.
The room is very nice, especially for two guys on an adventure. Separate full beds although a bit hard. I like a very firm bed and these were even too hard for me. If you have a sleeping bag, just keep the comforter on the bed and it works out perfectly. The bathrooms are also very clean and they provide travel toothbrushes and nice towels. The shower head is quite low and our shower curtain actually was so long it plugged the drain! But don't come to Rwanda if you demand perfection. Most places continue to work out the kinks and Home Inn only has a few minor flaws.
I am rather particular about hotels, even in the USA, and Home Inn is a sure bet. Don't hesitate to stay here and meet the great staff. Can't say enough good things about this very helpful staff.

Room Tip: Facing the hotel, rooms to the right get some noise from staff workers. Go for the left side which faces a field.

I stayed at Home Inn this June for one night following a trek to see the Gorillas nearby. We had a one bed apartment which was spacious, immaculately clean and tastefully decorated. It was very reasonably priced for the quality of accommodation and food available - especially in comparison to some other experiences in Rwanda. Without a doubt it is the hospitality and service provided which singles out Home Inn as a "must stay" hotel in Muzanze/Ruhengeri. From the moment we arrived every member of staff we encountered made every effort to ensure we were happy and comfortable eg Our trekking shoes were cleaned (free of charge) and without fuss. I cannot praise the staff enough for their friendliness, courtesy and professionalism.

The rooms, beds and bathrooms are all very good in this hotel. They are clean and modern. The beds have hard matresses but are new and very comfortable. The showers in the clean bathrooms meet Western standards and have warm water.

Moreover, Home Inn shows Rwandan hospitality at its best! After getting a very cold welcome at Hotel Muhabura (a somewhat unpersonal hotel in need of refurbishment), we decided to look for another place. The staff at Home Inn gave us a warm welcome with an upgrade to a large appartment, and helped us immediately with finding a driver in order to hike the Virunga Volcanoes the next morning. They called five different parties for us and even let the cheapest option drive by to introduce himself.

When we came back covered in mud after a day of hiking the staff proposed directly to clean our shoes - free of charge! (there is even a free car wash in the hotel for those with own vehicles)
Also, the kitchen staff of the restaurant was flexible and made soup of some leftovers of chicken we gave them.

The next morning we asked for a change in the breakfast menu so the cook made pancakes especially for us. All free of charge and served with a smile!

I would highly recommend Home Inn to everyone visiting Musanze. As far as possible, Home Inn succeeded in making us feel at home in Rwanda. It is definitely worth the slightly higher price of some budget-midrange options in Musanze.

We spent 2 nights at the Home Inn in Musanze, before climbing Mont Bisoke and after trekking to see the Gorillas. The room was sparkling with a comfortable bed, hot water and even a balcony. The restaurant provides good meals, generous portions and good value for money. The wifi connection may be a bit on the slow side, but it works just fine. If you have your own car, they even provide mechanical service and a free car wash. In other words, everything a weary traveler could ask for.
