“Great place to relax after Gorilla Trek”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 June 2012

My daughter and I enjoyed an excellent cappuccino and banana bread at the Lava Cafe after our amazing gorilla trek. The wireless internet access allowed us to share our gorilla treking experience with family and friends.

“Best coffee in town and more”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 May 2012

After being served yukky Nescafé everywhere else (how come coffee producing countries don't promote their own products!?), you're gonna love the real and very good coffee the Lava café barista prepares. Don't hesitate to ask for a strong brew if you're into that. Apart from the coffee, they have hired a great chef to make tasty dishes. The regular menu's around town are not very exciting, but here is someone who dares using herbs and can prepare a pretty swell sauce bernaise to go with tender and handmade fish fingers. Delicious sandwiches and salads are on the menu too, often served with a heap of crispy fries. Soup is tasty, as are the various cakes. If you spend more than one night in town, you may find yourself a frequent guest here. Personnel is very friendly and even though not everything is always available (it depends on what they find on the market that day, ask to make sure you choice is there), you'll leave the place satisfied and happy. Beware, the place is closed on Saturdays, they don't have a timetable. Still, thumbs up for Lava Café!!

“Sweets”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 April 2012

Wanted to have lunch, but their kitchen was "broken" They did have baked goods, so after a late lunch at Muhabura, we napped and then went to Lava Cafe for dessert. Nice selection of marble cake, banana bread, some ice cream. There was a wide selection of teas, drinks or coffee. It is difficult to convince Rwandans that I drink coffee black. Milk is a very important ingredient in their diet
