Mossel Bay Guest House
Ranked #18 of 54 Mossel Bay B&B and Inns
Reviewed 25 June 2011

We stayed for 1 night in June and had a lovely time.
The guest house is in a fantastic location with views out over the garden & pool to the bay beyond. The room was very well set up, and the sherry decanter was a nice touch.
Our hosts were great, and we shared a drink at the well-supplied honesty bar before relaxing in the lounge and used the wifi.
Breakfast was tasty and wrapped up an excellent stay.

From the outside, the Mossel Bay guest house simply looks like another house on the street but once you get inside, it's a whole different story. You walk into a small foyer which leads to a wide wood staircase flanked by a small waterfall and tropical foliage. Ahead is a lounge but your eyes are drawn past that to the outside deck beyond and the magnificent view of the bay. This is a very unique guest house with large, comfortable rooms as well as roomy bathrooms. I was very impressed.
Our host and hostess were most friendly and helpful, perfectly willing to allow me the use of their computer so I could check in online for our flight the next day.
We're most grateful for their generosity and hospitality.

We stayed for two nights at Mossel Bay Guest House and just wish it could have been longer. We received a very warm welcome from Piet. The house is wonderful inside with quality furnishings. The rooms were spacious with plenty of storage space. The bathroom was ideal. The water feature in the bar/reception area is a touch of class. Do not make the same mistake as we did and have loads of fresh fruit and cheese and ham for breakfast as they then come out and take your order for a full English. The pool area is lovely too.

This is a deceptively large house with magnificent views over the harbour of Mossel Bay. Built on a hillside it is much bigger at the back than it appears from the road. The entrance hall is magnificent! Plants, a water feature and wonderful fittings. The dining area has fantastic views. The rooms are large, beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean. We were met by the owner Piet, who is a lovely man. He was very knowledgeable, approachable and very helpful. He recommended exactly the right restaurants for the food we wanted to experience! The dining room like the whole establishment, was also very clean, furnished with quality fittings and we enjoyed excellent breakfasts! We loved photographing the many colourful birds which were feeding on Palm Olives just outside our bedroom window. The perfect hide! Heather who seemed to run the place couldn't have been more helpful in assisting us with directions and onward bookings. It was a bit windy when we were there so we didn't use the outside facilities, but there is a lovely pool and bar-b-q area in the grounds. Undercover parking is provided. Mossel Bay felt peaceful and safe. We loved it and we'll stay there next time, without a doubt!

We had a couple of nights here which we thoroughly enjoyed. The rooms are super and there is a good breakfast. Although it is high above the town and you need a car to get down to shops, the view is well worth that inconvenience. Some of the restaurants offer a shuttle service (free). Very friendly host, in all a very good choice.
