Stayed once again at Protea Hotel Mossel Bay en route to Cape Town and had as always a enjoyable stay. One is always warmly welcomed. We stayed in their Harbour suite as the Presidential suite was undergoing renovations. For those that have not stayed here before : There is a small fully equipped kitchen with the basics, microwave, kettle, toaster, pots, pans crockery and cutlery. The lounge has a flat screen tv and has a small balcony which overlooks the harbour. There is a loft bedroom upstairs which my kids slept in and the main bedroom and full bathroom is downstairs. So in fact it is a triple story unit. The main bathroom was a large oval bath, double vanity basin, toilet and large shower. All very modern. The beds are always the most comfortable. We ate at the in-house restaurant Cafe Gannet which is know for their seafood dishes. Keep up the good work. Well done to staff and management

Room Tip: Either book a harbour suite or the Presidential Suite, worth the extra money by far

Dear Irene
Thank you for your feedback and taking the time to post them on TripAdvisor. Mossel Bay is the perfect en route stopover to Cape Town from Port Elizabeth being half-way. The self-catering Harbour Suites are modern, with balconies and very spacious with sea views. The Café Gannet Restaurant is very popular especially for its seafood, so it is the Blue Oyster Bar well known for its decadent sundowner cocktails. Look forward to welcoming you back in the not too distant future to live life slowly....

I stayed at the hotel from 25 June to 2 July 2013, and received customer service and value for money unlike anywhere else in South Africa. From the moment I arrived until the day I left, I felt like a "rock star" with the fantastic treatment, friendly, sincere smiles from all the staff, my interaction with F&B manager, chefs, etc. Nothing was too much effort; even arranging the lunches for the two days of training I conducted there. It was also the little things that made the stay exceptional: The welcome sign at reception with the individual's name on; the chocolate on the pillow at night, all these little things.
If you are looking for serious customer service and value for money, this is the place to stay.

This hotel is very nice, our room was a small apartment with an equipped kitchen, a nice balcony. Great bathroom. Walking distance to the shark diving tour if that's what your heading for. The restaurant is also very nice for dinner. My only complaint is that when we were checking out we were charged for breakfast. This was unexpected, and after paying such a high rate, we expected at least breakfast to be included. Other than that, had a great stay.

I often have the opportunity to stay at the Protea Hotel in Mossel Bay but i never really get the opportunity to thank the team for their hospitality. Every staff member i encounter has a smile and a fantastic can-do attitude and it has become my hotel of choice. I would recommend staying at this hotel to anyone, whether it is the standard room or the gorgeous family-sized suite, you are guaranteed to enjoy your stay.

Room Tip: The upstairs rooms are fairly large and airy.

I stayed there for two nights on business, and found the welcome outstanding. The room was very clean and well presented.
The staff were very welcoming and helpful.
The Cafe Gannet surprised me with the excellent food - i was expecting standard hotel fare, but what I was offered was definately not standard! A well thought out menu with some interesting dishes.
Breakfast was tasty, filling and also had some unusual twists (fruit Sushi was wonderful)!
I hope to return somewhen when I'm not on business so that I can live life slowly . . . .
