We stayed at the Avenues for seven very enjoyable nights in January 2012. It is situated in a quiet residential road high above Mossel Bay, From the time we arrived we were made very welcome with a pot of tea by the pool and information of the various places of interest we could visit. Our room was clean with an African theme and had a large walk-in shower. The towels and bedding were changed regularly. When we booked I mentioned that I have to follow a strict gluten free diet and to my delight, special bread appeared every morning thanks to Meike. The breakfasts were lovely with a good choice to tempt you. Meike and Martin arranged several trips for us but we found that the time spent at the B&B was enjoyable too. There was a large seating area round the pool and a big lounge room with wifi available to guests. They are a delightful couple who make guests very welcome. Would we return - yes please.

We had an absolute wonderful stay in the Avenues Guesthouse! The guesthouse is situated right on top of Mossel Bay and you can reach the center of town and the restaurants within a few minutes. Our blue room was very comfortable and clean, we had TV, safe, hairdryer and also a private sitting area outside our room, so we didn't miss anything! The breakfast was delicious, freshly prepared and with a great variety to choose from. Thank you so much for making our stay in Mossel Bay so pleasant, we will definitely come again!

We stayed here for three days in December 2011 and it was one of the best. We would recommend staying there to anyone.

The location is great, not far from the city centre, in a peaceful area. The rooms are comfortable, cosy and spotless and the feel of the house is warm, welcoming and friendly. There is no sea view, but hey the sea is everywhere around Mossel Bay! The breakfast buffet is a joy to behold. One of life’s pleasures is sitting around the table talking to the owners and other travellers over wonderful food – and we must not forget the coffee – it is the best ever! There is also an exceptional variety of teas.

Meike and Martin have so much knowledge that they are happy to share and are wonderfully welcoming and helpful people. Value and Service is great, definitely above other 3 star houses standards in South Africa! We loved it so much we are going back again!

We a had only one Night in the guesthouse. Lucky us. Long Story short the positive Feedbacks at tripadvisor are from german visitors for german owners. The site is below the 3*** sa Standard. Rooms and Service are minimalistic so be aware.there is now 'view' at all from the rooms except the backyard wall. Breakfast was good but simple.thanks for the stay. Cheers

Dear Waldonso,

It is always an experience to have guests who didn't say anything at all during their stay and are complaining afterwards. However - there is nowhere stated that we have Sea View, neither on our webpage nor in other guest reviews, so why was it a surprise for you not to have view?

Our breakfast was simple? It is detailed described on our website. What did you miss, if we may ask? Didn't we ask you a several times if everything is fine or if you need anything else? As we remember, you didn't have any further wishes at all. So why complaining afterwards?

Best regards from

We stayed at Avenues for 2 nights as part of our South Africa trip and we were greatly welcomed by Meike & Martin and Kirsten. The rooms are confortable, spacious and clean and there is also a nice pool area. For breakfast there is a good variety and their restaurant reccomandations are very helpfull. We had 2 fantastic meal thanks to Meike and Martin's reccomandations. Meike & Martin were always available for greata suggestions and we followed their suggestions on what to visit on the way to Cape Town and we were not dissapointed. Thanks to this we saw great places.

We had originally planned to simply pass through Mossel Bay on our road trip, but decided to spend a night and have a good rest. How lucky we were that this stop saw us check in at the Avenues in Mossel Bay!

Mieke and Martin are incredibly attentive and friendly hosts and one rarely saw Mieke without a fresh pot of tea in her hand. The rooms are comfortable, private and clean and the area is very quiet and only a 10 minute walk to the main street.

Our stay was so enjoyable that we decided to spend another night and delay the remainder of the road trip.

I would highly recommend Avenues as really good value for money, but the real attractions are Martin and Mieke who will ensure that your stay is one too remember.

We booked directly with this guesthouse and immediately had friendly e-mails from Meike & Martin. We had a very friendly welcome when we arrived and were given a choice of rooms, both of which we great. The rooms are spacious and very clean.
Meike & Martin were very helpful, giving us useful advise about Mossel Bay, including the shuttle bus service to & from certain local restaurants. The walk into town takes about 10mins, but it is uphill coming back & is not for those with walking or breathing problem!
We enjoyed staying here so much we stayed again on our way back along the Garden Route. We highly recommend this guesthouse.

Room Tip: Some rooms do not have TV's, but there is a guest lounge with TV.
