I heard about this lodge on TripAdvisor.com and I am really glad I told my travel agent to book us into it.

5 of my friends and I stayed at the Honey Badger the night before and after our Kilimanjaro Trek. The food was delicious and had variety. The double rooms were spacious and well maintained. The staff were all very polite, courteous and always smiling! And best of all the owners, Joseph and Jenny are very friendly and always made us feel at home. They organised the trek for us and we could not have been more satisfied with everything on the mountain, from the guides to the tents.

If you are looking for a peaceful stay with a homely atmosphere, delicious food, wonderful staff and an amazing Kilimanjaro experience, well... you've found it.

The place is brilliantly situated at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, with the nature on your doorstep. The staff, consisting mostly of locals, is really kind and helpful. But what makes this place special is the part they take in developing the local community. A huge portion of the proceeds goes to (the owner-couple's simultaneous project) "SAIDIA Tanzania", working with volunteers and international sponsors to support village projects. Especially to help fund school for children who are unable to pay for it themselves. This is how hotels should be run.

Top top top place to stay! Honey Badger Lodge is not only a lodge or campsite, it offers all kinds of safaris and a big bonus: to be in touch with the community, understand some of rural Tanzania, if you would like to, or relax, and enjoy the great food, lovely big pool and quietness of the place. The owners Joseph and Jenny run a 'Community Conscious Toursim' which means that they run at the same time a 'Second Chance School', a nursery and other projects to help the community, so while you are enjoying, you can feel even better knowing that part of the money is going into the community, and you feel it. The staff makes you feel as in a family and the service is superb! The standard rooms are already very nice, and the deluxe, are awesome, for only 10USD more. The very best place to stay, not only for climbing the Kili, but also the landscape, the people and cultural experience. If I come back to Tanzania, I will definetely go back there!

Room Tip: The deluxe rooms are worth the extra price

We loved staying at Honey Badger! Jenny, Joey and staff are wonderful, grounds are peaceful, the food is terrific and we met and enjoyed the company of others who were there. We felt a part of the community and began to understand a bit about the lives of people who live in the surrounding village. We look forward to enjoying the pool area which is very close to completion and looks fantastic. It's an easy dulla dulla ride to Moshi or a very reasonable taxi fare of somewhere between 5,000-8,000 shillings. We especially liked the 'giving back' aspect of Honey Badger where they have a volunteer program and also give a percentage to community initiatives.

Friendly, Welcoming & Clean. Staff was extremely welcoming & helpful. Rooms were clean, comfortable and spacious.

Food was tasty & the setting quiet and relaxing. Easy to get to town from the lodge.

A great place to stay while you explore Moshi or as a place while you are traveling onto or back from another destination.

If you value cleanliness, friendliness & good value than I would recommend this place to you.

The Honey Badger has a very warm and cozy atmosphere. Very lovely, polite and welcomming staff. Organise excellent trips and excursions. My boyfriend did climb the Kilimanjaro when we were there and it was all very well organised.
Next to that; good meals, good company and lovely garden.
Really felt at home.

The Honey Badger is an ideal place for a quiet getaway in Moshi. It is a spacious, charming bed and breakfast that caters to all kinds of accommodation at very reasonable prices: camping, dorm rooms, or self-contained rooms. Don't be put off that it is not in the center of town; getting to and from town was surprisingly easy, and it was so quiet at night I slept like a baby. I was with my sister and cousin and we shared a large triple room with its own veranda. The staff are friendly and responsive to guests' needs. I was especially impressed by their initiative to go green by using solar power for the rooms.
