As part of our OAT safari we stayed here one night on our way to the Serengetti. This lodge boasts its own huge organic garden and coffee plantation. There is a pool, internet, bar and very good restaurant. A word of advice, if you want to take pictures in the coffee plantation of the workers be prepared to tip them a dollar. The rooms are in Swahili and mine was "Maasai" easy enough. This was a beautiful room with a huge bed and fireplace. Be prepared at night to hear the small animals run across the roof. You can also hear people speaking next door. The food was nicely prepared and the staff was very helpful.

I stayed at the Tloma Lodge for two nights as a base to the Ngorongoro Crater. The property is an operating coffee plantation and is laid out really nicely. It has a nice pool and a nice central area operating as a restaurant and bar. I must say that the food was very nice, actually the best of all the lodges I visited and it was very clear that the staff take things very personally when it comes to food and dining service. Hats off to them. The rooms were comfortable although there were very different rooms in different parts of the hotel. First, there are NO room numbers and all rooms have names of animals. Cute concept, even if the names are in Swahili! The is one building at the end of the path (cannot identify it due to no numbers but the Nyani (baboon) room is in this building) that is a long row of rooms with adjoining terraces and I found the rooms a bit too simplistic. Large yet quite empty with some not even having a chair in the room. While the bathroom/shower was large, there was only a small shelf installed so really no place for toiletries. The beds were great though. The rooms closer to the central area are in bungalow style with rugs and fire places and were much nicer. I would try to steer away from the bottom row of rooms and get into the bungalows. Internet is available for a charge of $5/hour and it did not disconnect! The internet however is only available in or very near to the Internet room. Overall, I did enjoy the Tloma lodge and would recommend it to others.

Room Tip: Try to steer away from the bottom row of rooms and to get into the bungalows.

Spent a night here on the way back from the Serengeti on our honeymoon, unfortunately didn't have enough time to enjoy it to the full, we did have an amazing BBQ for dinner though with very friendly chefs and great food. Our cottage was right at the bottom overlooking the food plantation and looked amazing inside.

Never had time to use the pool as we had to leave at 8am for a flight to Zanzibar and only arrived at 6pm, a common occurrence on our trip throughout the Serengeti - never enough time to enjoy the beautiful lodges we stayed out - 5 nights never seemed like long enough now.

All I can say is from what I saw between the hours we spent there, I would have loved to have spent another night or had more time there and spread our journey out a little.

Room Tip: We stayed in a cottage room which was incredibly large.

We really enjoyed our stay at Tloma lodge. It's in a good location for Ngorongoro Crater and Manyara National Park, and set on a beautiful plantation. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and the food was far better than we had expected, with plenty of home-grown vegetables and fruit. There were usually 2 stew options at dinner with rice/pasta/potatoes and veggies, plus soup, salads and a selection of deserts. It was helpful to be able to make your own lunch package to take out for the day, and for a very early start the cook made us a breakfast package the night before.
Our room was a separate unit, it was clean, with a comfy bed.

Room Tip: Ask for Chui, which is a separate unit.

We stayed at this lodge before and after a five-day safari in the Serengiti. The rooms are spacious and have a front or rear outside sitting area - depending upon the unit. The coffee plantation is a treat along with the gorgeous gardens. The staff is relatively attentive but not overly helpful. And, my laundry was terribly wrinkled despite my request to not use the dryer. The meals were delicious and plentiful. Internet is available for a fee, and the gift shop has many interesting items.

We stayed here while on tour. The rooms were nice and spacious, but lacked privacy on the patio. We had plenty of hot water and a nice clean bathroom. We didn't have a cottage, but instead we had a room which met our needs.

The grounds were well groomed and picture perfect. We especially enjoyed the tour of the property including the coffee plantation. We brought a pound of ground coffee home with us to remind of our stay

This has a lovely setting, with comfortable rooms and a large deck. The pool was lovely and not over chlorinated. Beds were comfortable and the service very good. The only negative was that we were charged for internet which is one of my pet peeves. The food was better than many of the places we have stayed at on this trip.
