“Breathtaking view of the crater”
Reviewed 3 June 2014

Stayed for 1 night in May end during our 5 day Safari. After a long day of game viewing in the crater we were greeted by a great view, friendly staff, spacious room with a view, comfortable lounge area! buffet had ample of choice. The place gets a little chilly at night. Excellent overall.

Wow wow wow this is a wonderful spectacle of wildlife. Close up to everything including a rare Rhino, pride of lions, flamingos, cheetahs hippos all in all brilliant! We stayed in a lodge overlooking the crater with superb facilities......a must to visit :-)

I stayed at the sopa lodge with my mom in may 2014 for 2 nights and we enjoyed our stay here. Our favorite part was the food which was the best we experienced our entire visit to Tanzania. The drinks were reasonably priced and the staff were all very friendly and accommodating. The area is very cold at night and we slept with hot water bottles to stay warm but it was worth it! The biggest con of this lodge is the Wi-Fi there is only wifi in the common areas not in the rooms and u need to get a user I'd and password from the front desk which are all different and carry this around with u so u can sign on again. I didn't like the long walk to our room so wiuld suggest choosing a room close to the main lodge.

I really cant find any words. The VIEW spectacular. The food delicous. Service very good. The room was a palace itself.
Ok we just came from a 3 days safari in Serengeti and had slept in tents with fire cooked food by our cook. But this hotel is the best I ever had.

Room Tip: We had one a bit away from the main house

A nice posh hotel, nestled right at the top of the crater, provides amazing views (not animals, but of the landscape)

The hotel is luxurious -nice spacious rooms - with all the amenities (incl a hot water bottle), a pool (its too cold to swim tho), a nice bar...
The restaurant is fantastic - large buffet, amazing spread, delicious, ample for vegetarians.

The service is prompt, helpful and with a smile

Its a large hotel tho, so do expect crowd, but all in all quite what u need after a long days of safari

We stayed for one night. The room was excellent and the view of crater from room was marvellous. A must stay when you are visiting the Crater. Staff was polite and the services were very good. The hotel is very good in all aspects.

Positive points:
+ great swimming pool with beautiful view on the crater ( great at the sunset time;)).
+ beautiful dinning and aperetif areas
+ most of the rooms have a beautiful view
+ nice breakfast buffet

Negative points:
- the rooms were not really beautiful because they seems to be quite old. However beds are clean.
- bathrooms are big but the shower was not really clean ( we found a hair elastic from previous guests).
- dinner was ok but we have eaten better dinners during our safari ( we see that it is a big lodge). However, it was ok. Thats not a real negative point.

I recommend this hotel for the nice place with the beautiful view on the crater and the nice swimming pool and lobby, dinning and aperetif area;)
