Tidy and simple, good cheap hostel and cruisy place to chill out and talk to some other young travellers as they go on their way to explore the world. Difficult to find the entrance and the stairway looks trashed but nice place once you are inside. Serves decent food if you want to be lazy and eat in, and got a nice Cuba Libre mixed at the serving area. Beers were cold.

Close to the awesome food street with comes alive each night with all kinds of great food to try!

Stuck in nanning overnight. 7AM and this was one of the first in the area to answer the phone. The first couple we tried were closed or sold out. It's a hostel, so don't expect too much, but we got a largish doble bed room with bathroom/shower for 128 or 138 RMB. The rooms could use a fresh coat of paint, but the beds are nice and clean, and the showers run great. The food served in the main area is quite good and very reasonably priced. The pool table is fun too. The wifi is a bit spotty on the 4th floor.
Only down side is that it's on the 3rd floor and there's no stairs, and then our room was up another flight. There's an interesting market just down the street with fruits, veggie's and some good looking food stands.

All in all Nanning has not impressed me, but if i am ever forced back again, I will return here.

The staff helped greatly to arrange all necessary arrangements for travel to Vietnam and received and held an important package for me while traveling. Hot showers, clean dorms, cheap beer and a comfortable environment. I've stayed here twice now and would happily return.

Room Tip: The 4 bed mixed dorm was great. Big comfortable beds for China.

I am writing this review @ 1210AM cuz I am so pissed with this hostel and their management.

There is absolutely very minimal order going on here.

The staff on duty does not want to impose any... So what you are getting are loud disturbances from the pool table, the TV, and the common area whereby the lesser educated Chinese talked like they are in a wet market... Oh... And people at this strange hour blow are drying their hair irregardless of your want for a sleep.

I have stayed here for 5 nights and have experienced 3 different ensuites and I can tell you all 3 have their quirks. One has a screwed up drainage system that floods to your living room. The second has a strange water musky odor and the toilet stinks with some obnoxious sewage gases. Lastly, the third one (the most decent among the 3) is located at the 3rd floor which has the closest proximity to the common area, thus you are getting all the noise disturbances.

I can't believe it... The whole hostel with 3 levels of rooms are all sharing just one small front loader ?! Again there is no order here... It's the usual survival style just like when you walk around in Nanning.

There are 3 public computers for use. But they are so dang loaded with Chinese junks that they are deemed usable only for the ones with lots of patience. And if you are concerned about security I would reckon you think twice when using their computers especially they are all using pirated softwares. You just don't know what's the hidden things behind.

Oh lastly... This place is loaded with rodents. You should see them pretty often... Go to the miserable small clothes drying area and witness. Oh and my bag was terrorize while in their luggage holding (storeroom) area - all for a piece of candy :(

Those who said this place is clean... Are you sure? I doubt they wipe the tables nor the floor during room service. I have never seen them doing any to the rooms nor the common area.

We stayed in Nanning Green Forest Hostel to arrange the visa for Vietnam, very convenient, had it fixed in 2 days for 550 Yuan. Hostel is very clean and neat and a great place to meet fellow travellers heading on to Vietnam. Very sociable common area, with a good selection of books including a shelf with some 15 Lonely Planets for China, so if travelling in the opposite direction, this is a good place to pick up a copy. All in all, a great place to stay, friendly staff which speak good English, good food and an excellent night market around the corner.

Hard to find from the train station. Perhaps easier to get a taxi which should cost about 7 – 10 rmb. Very helpful reception staff, most with fairly good English. Room small but clean and a nice shower with plenty of hot water. Bed and bedding were great. Air con, free washing machine (although nowhere to hang it to dry). There is TV in some rooms but no English channels. Really friendly lounge area with TV, pool table and book shelf. Staff can help with directions to just about anywhere. Several good eating streets within walking distance, one to the left and one to the right. The boardwalk running beside the river is just across the road and perfect for an evening stroll.
If waiting for a visa to Vietnam there are several day trips that you can make also many interesting markets to visit if you are walkers you won't be bored if you get held up here

Room Tip: One on the river side may be a little quieter

Stayed in a private double on the 10th of October 2013 while waiting for our visa for Vietnam. The staff were very helpful providing a visa service for a charge however your visa does work out cheaper if your willing to wait a few days or you could go get it yourself the visa centre is actually in the bus station so you could pick up your bus ticket at the same time for the crossing to vietnam. The hostel is about a 30 minute walk to the bus station(we walked it with rucksacks but we are a bit nuts so maybe get a taxi)

There is a western type restaurant close by and the food in the hostel is decent we found food in nanning a bit poor overall but if your only there a few days theres enough to get by.

Room was decent thought the drains did tend to smell after you had a shower but the room was clean enough. There is free laundry we were lucky it wasnt in use when we went to use it.

Overall the hostel is good and serves its purpose as a stop off going to or coming from vietnam. The entrance has been mentioned a few times its fine to be honest not the worst we have had to walk through I mean theres a nursery on the 1st floor how scary can it be.
