Only 2 Western hotels in Nanning and they are a block away from each other. Right next to a large shopping mall with excellent western and Chinese restaurants and a movie theater.

Room was decent size with a western style comfortable mattress. Also, included the largest flat screen TV I've seen in a hotel. However, no English channels except Asia News. The TV does have outlets where you can plug in your computer and there is free internet.

There is a decent gym with newer equipment an an indoor non-heated pool. (For the summer only)

The restaurant buffet is mostly Chinese and the western menu is overpriced. Walk to the mall next door for meals.

Service is rough though. English is not spoken well and I was given wrong directions for a restaurant.

Here's a secret for this hotel though. Don't book with Best Western or any of the U.S. based hotel sites. You will get an overpriced room with the only advantage being you get some English channels (like HBO) and a DVD player. These luxuries will run you about $75 more a night.

Instead book with Chinese site elong.com (Owned by Expedia) or ctrip.com. Both sites can be viewed in English and do not need a credit card to book a room. The best part though is you can get a room here for half the cost of the American site rates.

At about $70 a night, the hotel is a decent deal on these sites.

As Nanning expats we frequent this hotel a lot and we always put our friends and colleagues here. This hotel stands out against so many other hotels in China by its high standards of service, facilities, cleanliness and the staff are everso obliging. I had a party here, and the effort the hotel went to was tremendous. The pool is fantastic, the western food is very good. This a very welcome retreat to escape the smell, dust and humidity of Nanning!

We stayed in this hotel for six days in a Business B suite. The rooms were superb; spacious with excellent fittings and high ceilings. The service was also good, and the food fair-good. The real let down is its location- next to a convention centre, but 20mins by taxi from the centre of the old city. A shopping centre is however nearby, with a Walmart, two good Japanese restaurants and a food hall.

The hotel's facilities were simply amazing. From the free Internet access to the largest bed I have ever seen - like two california kings rolled into one. And with space to spare in the room.

And the staff were most courteous - and most could speak a decent level of English - with some even being what I would consider as terrific considering we were in China.

Highly recommended for one and all. Food and drink was reasonable priced throughout the hotel.

The hotel is smack in the middle of the newer part of the city, with a mall right next to it. The Mall wasn't much, but still, at least if you have had enough Chinese food, you could get Pizza Hut or KFC at the Mall. And the Mall had a Wal Mart's too ! Albeit not exactly what I would expect from a typical Walmart.

Back to the hotel - great business hotel with excellent facilities and service.

This is a brand new hotel, perhaps the newest one in Nanning. It is supposed to be a 5-star hotel. The hardware (room, facility etc) is great and matches the star rating. No complains there. The problem is the people and the "service" they provide. The rating is probably no star. They simply do not understand or care for the word "service". For example, if you go up to the front desk, people there would keep chatting with each other and totally ignore you. They won't let you check out until they have sent someone to your room to inspect it (to make sure you have not stolen anything). This could take up to 15-20 min. So leave enough time for check out.
