Must visit. The ride up is lovely, steep, and smooth. Technology works splendidly. The red gondolos are James Bond style. Up the weather is inter-dimensional. One can feel dizzy as low on gravity. Had tea with the army located there..meditated, walked around...all fantastic.

really fantastic experience. should go to the second level as the real feel of height and ice is there only.
need to be little care full if kids are with you, especially between 2-4 yrs.
wont recommend for kids less than 2 years and people with respiratory and cardiac issues.Rest its all heaven .

Actually there are two phases you can choose. The first phase has a vast grass field on which you can ride horses. There are also some dhaba(restaurant)s with delicious local foods.
The second phase is much higher and there is no grass and tree. There is a lake which you have to hike for about an hour to reach it. Honestly I believe that the second phase doesn’t worth the price.

For this ride you can purchase the tickets on the spot as well or you can even buy them online. Buying them online is a better option in peak season time since the counter is crowded at that time. It wasn't when I visited so it was no hassle. It would be great if you can talk to the guides there and then regarding their fee and also do talk to them regarding the pony ride as well as they can arrange the same for you. Again you can bargain for the pony ride. I paid rs900/- for the guide(who was really very helpful and I can provide his details as well just incase you need it). And I paid rs600/- for the pony ride.

The Gondola ride has 2 phases. On phase 1 you can get down and from there you can take a pony ride to a waterfall area where you can sit and enjoy the surrounding and sip some piping hot tea or else you can also trek towards the waterfall which is an amazing experience. We ordered our tea and maggie and went ahead with our guide for the waterfall trek. Now the trek is small and not too steep but is a bit slippery and since our guide was a trekker himself, he helped us all which was great. It's worth when you reach there, do try the water it'll calm you down and the view is amazing. We completely forgot about our order and to our surprise the vendor was sweet enough to carry that entire pan of hot maggie up the hill only so that we could enjoy our food hot, now isn't that sweet.

The 2nd phase has frozen lake and is at a height. Unfortunately we couldn't go there because of the weather but it's definitely on my list and it's worth seeing since the view from up there is good. Also if you're going there in winters it's a different view all together since the entire area is covered in snow and you can also ski there( it gets better than Auli for ski in winters).

Do carry or wear sport shoes or walking shoes as you'll be walking a lot.
Please get in touch if you want to know or want to get in touch with our guide(he runs a trekking co. which I was interested in and it might help you too).

I hope this review helps you in planning your visit.

Thanks!

Gulmarg Gondola is a must try experience in Kashmir, one of the best Gondola rides in all seasons, be it summer or winter. When we visited in Summer the snow was there in Phase 2 in plentiful but not in Phase 1.
The ride itself is worth it, though the gondola needs a bit of maintenance.
