“Great food, awesome host, close to Tharabar Gate Hotel”
Reviewed 22 June 2014

This place was one of our best meals on our trip. It is so easy to walk over fom Tharabar Hotel and the owners are lovely, friendly people. All veg food which has a lot of flavor. Try the soups and the Aubergine Special.

“Favorite restaurant in all of Myanmar!”
Reviewed 22 June 2014 via mobile

Where to start... This place was just fantastic. The best burmese food we tasted the entire time spent in Myanmar- we came here three times over our time in bagan, and the night we went somewhere else for dinner we were wondering why we didn't go to Yar Pyi! The family is so sweet and kind, and will make you feel right at home! I wish I could get some of that vegetable curry and tea leaf salad right now!! Do yourself a favor and eat here! :) Thank you Yar Pyi!

“Wonderful and underrated family restaurant”
Reviewed 30 May 2014

One of the most striking examples of how your restaurant not being listed in the LP whilst your neighbour's is results in an underrated but truly wonderful restaurant. The place is run by a Burmese family and all members are very helpful and kind. You'll probably end up chatting to one of the daughters about her life in Burma, after which their father apologises for his daughter's talkative mood ;). The food, especially the homemade guacamole is terrific. We came back three times and received a bag of Burmese sweets during the last visit as a gift. A wonderful place with a hardworking Burmese family serving top notch food.

“Great family run place”
Reviewed 25 May 2014

Run by a husband and wife team who love to talk and cook, its a great place for local fare. The owners have five daughters, three of whom have graduated from university and two on the way through, as well as two young sons. What a wonderful success story. The food is cooked with love and in large quantities. They will explain the menu to you and ensure that you are happy.

“You're Family at Yar Pyi”
Reviewed 15 May 2014 via mobile

If you want some delicious authentic Myanmar cuisine in Bagan this family-run restaurant is as far as you need to go. When you arrive you are usually greeted by one of the family's several daughters who speak English better than almost anyone we came across in the country. The daily specials are cooked up fresh, prepared with care and served in generous portions. While you are eating, members of the family are happy to engage in a conversation about Bagan, Myanmar culture or the way the county has changed over the past decades. We had a delightful conversation with one of the daughters who had recently graduated from MIT (Myanmar Institute of Technology) with a degree in archaeology and was happy to tell us all about the excavation of the ruins in Bagan. She even offered to demonstrate how the traditional Burmese face paint was made from tree bark. This place was so great that we had a meal there every day during out three day stay in Bagan. Fantastic!
