After first dismissing this hotel as a place to stay after reading negative reviews, we were left with no option, as everywhere else was fully booked, and what a pleasant surprise! One has to remember that this hotel is not promoting itself as five star so, for the tariff charged and the three star rating, my family and I were more than happy with the accommodation and would stay there again. The restaurant was a little expensive but the food was okay - however on the second night we chose to walk down to the main street as there was much better food at the small eateries and at a better price. The room was clean, as was the linen, and the staff were pleasant and helpful. I would happily stay there again.

Hotel designed with taste, temple style, red bricks. Nice gardens and breakfast/dinner area.
Basic and very limited choice of food at breakfast.
Room was smelling very bad (chemical repellant?), so had a bad sleep.
Swimming pool is not as nice as their brochure (see picture: pool was green and dirty at that time)
I think 25 USD per night is too much for this quality and service in Bagan.

This hotel was in a decent location in New Bagan and I would recommend staying here for primarily this reason alone. The staff was consistently pleasant and gave us good advice on which temples to visit. The room was adequate, but we didn't have hot water consistently throughout our three-night stay. The swimming pool was absolutely freezing cold. You can purchase water and other drinks, etc. from kiosks a short distance away for cheaper than at the hotel. Meals are also cheaper at nearby restaurants, but the prices for meals weren't astronomical at the hotel--menus are similar everywhere in Burma and the portions are very large. We recommend eating at the 'Black Rose' restaurant about a 10-minute walk from the hotel, but I couldn't tell you which street it was on. The owners of this restaurant were friendly and the traditional Burmese curries were the tastiest we had in this country which is not known for its cuisine.

We stayed a few nights at the Kaday Aung hotel. Nothing to rave about, but nothing too terrible.

PROS:
-Close to the temples, on the outskirt of New Bagan

-Has a pool with chairs, umbrellas, and canopy structures

-Offers a nightly show of puppets, dancing, and Myanmar music in the restaurant

-Friendly staff, always smiling, and willing to help out.

CONS:
-We walked into our room to find the housekeeper sleeping on our unmade bed and on top of our stuff.

-The bicycles for rent were terrible. Flat tires, unreliable brakes, and the chains kept falling off.

-The swimming pool was extremely cold and uncomfortable to swim in, even when it was 100 degrees outside.

-There is a terrible mosquito population in the area (although they do spray the rooms at night so I guess that's a PRO)

We spent 2 nights here.
The first night we got a room on the second floor, with thin wall. You can hear everything outside and from your neighbour. We only got 3 hours sleep the first night due to a big rat fight all over the ceiling, inside the wall, really noisy and i was freeking our that the rat can make it throught the wall and attact us at night. We finally could fall asleep around 3am. Then we got woke up again by the security guards talking when they walk around...
We reported the problem to the reception. At first they tried to sell us a more expensive room for the second night but we did not accept so they finally end up to change our room to the first floor.
The second night, no more rat fight but we get waken up by the security guards talking...it's really annoyed.
Breakfast here has fried noudle or fried rice, fried egg, banana, fried pankace, toast with butter and jams, tea and cofee. That is it and it is so so taste.
Bycicle rental is 3000 kyat /day. They need to do a big upgrade on their bycicle which are old and falling appart.
We will not come back to this hotel next time

Whilst we had a lovely trip in Myanmar and all other hotels in similar price range were very decent, Kaday Aung was by far our worst experience and clearly does not deserve some reviews on Trip Advisor. Upon arrival the hotel had been overbooked and our reservation had been lost, it took more than an hour for a completely disorganized staff to find a solution. Then we were given a room which, albeit very large, had a horrible smell (problem with the pipes / sewage), we could not stay in for more than 10 minutes without getting sick. We got transferred to a smaller room which was ok though clearly needed refurbishment. Finally we got ill with the food (breakfast ok but dinner totally undercooked, everything cold despite very long waiting time). After 24 hour in the hotel our best decision was to leave. My best advice - avoid this hotel. Also with hindsight, old bagan would have been more convenient and central vs. new bagan.
