“Great Stay”
Reviewed 17 December 2013

I had the most amazing time in Bagan and at this hotel. The staff could not have done more than they did, so friendly and helpful. A free puppet show are dinner time was a lovely surprise. Lovely pool to relax in. Very large room and very comfortable.

We were impressed how quiet the hotel felt, considering how many rooms there were in fact. The staff were very helpful and we enjoyed hopping on bikes we hired from them to explore Bagan. very easy. lots of fabulous restaurants a short walk away. check the status of the building work when you book though and ask to sleep away from the building. we were not disturbed at all by the building works but other rooms might have been.

This is an upscale hotel in new Bagan. Hotel has all possible facilities including a nice pool to relax after a day sightseeing or just if you want a day for yourself. We had the family room 109 which was amazingly large. It's a bit outdated (lots of dark wood) and dark but comfortable and it has a very nice bathroom with a nice hot shower and bath. The room lacked mosquito nets but fortunately we brought them ourselves since there are many mosquitos.

The hotel area is nicely decorated in a traditional Bagan-style way and gives you the feeling that you expect from an expensive hotel like this. It is also situated on walking distance from restaurants for dinner. Breakfast could include more western style food but is still OK. the staff is helpful but a little over-commercialised. Whereas the website says our room should cost $95, the staff just said the website was not correct and the room costed $120. When we rented electric bikes at 13pm we could manage a discount for half day price but they did not like to agree.

All in all, we liked our 3 night stay.

The hotel is located in New Bagan, in what should have been a quiet setting. We spent 4 nights in a superior room booked through a hotel booking site, but we have the feeling that we did not get the room we had paid for. We were in an attached bungalow, with terrace, alongside the piscine. We were the only guests staying there, as the other bungalows remained unoccupied, I guess because there was a building under construction in front of the piscine, causing nuisance from 7am till 5 or 6 pm. The bungalow smelt musty and was dark since we had to keep the curtains shut because of the workers passing by all day long. Impossible to stay on the terrace because of the dust, neither to relax a bit at the piscine: how can you decently bathe in front of workers without fearing that one of them could fall off the scaffoldings while peering at us ?
There was no hot water on the day of arrival, and neither the day after, though we complained several times. The problem was eventually fixed in the evening of our second day!
The room was equipped with a satellite TV, minibar, 2 complimentary bottles of pure water, tea & coffee but no electric kettle!
Breakfast is very poor. As for the restaurant, food is rather bad. Don't waste your money there, go to a nearby restaurant, e.g. San Carlo. Without mentioning the puppet show every night, of very poor quality.
It is a real pity to offer such a bad service in a place that could be so nice. Who are they trying to kid ??? They don't care. All they are interested in is your money !

Room Tip: Avoid rooms nearby the piscine

We had such a pleasant experience! The hotel is currently (Nov. 2013) under construction, as is most of booming Bagan, but the service more than makes up for it.

They have a pool, bike rental, a restaurant, free buffet breakfast, a cute cheeky marionette show, etc. We ended up using the reception desk as travel agents, booking buses and flights, what a relief!

The rooms were very cute, artisan crafted by the locals. Bamboo weaved walls and floors. The showers were a rock or granite stone flooring, nice hot water, air conditioning. The beds were set on the ground, super comfy. The only downfall was that construction started at 7:30. No worries though if you like to get up early and start exploring while it's cool out. Then head back to the hotel around midday for a dip in the pool. Then head back out to the temples for sunset.

This is kind of charming hotel with swimming pool. Their restaurant is good as well with puppet free show and felt relax. We hire bike at hotel and went around Bagan in the evening. But, make sure your room is not near school, if you don't want noise of children at school.

Kaday Aung is a good hotel in New Bagan which means that you are more or less 6 km away from the main temples ... Rooms are big and clean and the garden is very relaxing. The staff is kind. breakfast is not so good (this is what I mean when I say "it could be better").
Take my advice: DON'T rent the bicycles at the hotel (very lousy); take a little walk to the village and you'll find plenty of places where you can hire good bikes (especially electric ones)
