Enjoyed lunch at the Star Beam Bistro with my girlfriend after a morning of sightseeing. Had chicken in curry and fish in curry. Food came with homemade bread and eggplant salad. Fruit salad for dessert. Would definitely recommend this place.

After a long day of transfer and touring around temples we were looking forward to this meal.
The food was excellent but it was extremely hot and dusty....they went and got beers for us...much obliging.
Food wise definitely worth the visit.

Thank Andy W

Definitely the best meal we had in Bagan. The smoked river fish was one of the best things we had in all of Myanmar, while the Tea Leaf Salad was right up there. The smoked fish was like smoked salmon with a burmese twist, and came off as something that would have cost $25 a plate at a restaurant in the U.S. Homemade baguettes and butter were amazing, as was the lemon fizz drink.

Just in response to some of the negative reviews here, I would like to urge readers to view these businesses with appropriate perspective and not blame them for all of the ills of Burma. Yes, it's hot and there are bugs. Electricity is intermittent. You're also in an extremely remote part of the world where people have been cut off from the outside world for a generation. This is true for everywhere in the country, so it's not fair to pick on individual establishments for petty things out of their control. Use some common sense when ordering, and stear clear of menu items that are clearly ambitious and unlikely to be what you'd expect at home. Stick to local favorites that are more likely to be done well and everyone will be better off.

A note of caution on the location- Do not bother using Google maps or the maps here on TA. They are both ridiculously off. The restaurant is located just inside the gate to old Bagan, in a cluster of restaurants off the left hand side.

Bagan is located in the dry zone. Peanut and sesame are local specialities. Vegetarian sandwich here contains egg plant, peanut and sesame, all of them are local specialities. Enjoy home made baguette sandwiches.
