“Great place!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 August 2014

This is a really beautiful hotel with great service and good facilities. I was disappointed when I entered my room when I saw that it did not have any view at all (just to the pool in the court yard), but when I asked to change it I was placed in a room with view to the garden and a partial view of the river further below.

The room was spacious and clean. They were very generous with the complementary water, which was great since it was so warm outside. The restaurant had a good selection of food both for breakfast and dinner, although I wished they could have more cheese for breakfast. Unfortunately I forgot the swimming gear so I couldn't try the pool. But the massage and facial treatment in the spa was wonderful, wonderful!

The hotel has great view of the sunset from the garden. But the noise from the boats on the river must be very annoying if they start early in the morning, like others mention here.

The staff is really wonderful. They were incredibly helpful with change of room, arrangement of tour guide and car+driver, renting of e-bike, car to the airport and take-away breakfast. Impressive service!

Bagan (as you’ll be aware) is stunning, yet there is a lack of great places to stay. We therefore chose, on reflection the Aye Yar. The rooms were average (massive and yet oddly soulless) and that describes much of the hotel. When we got there it seemed deserted and that we were almost intruding. But then things got going when a small tour party arrived – suddenly there were other people about and the pool then become a place we wanted to be at. Eating breakfast with others is always nice. So, on reflection we would still have chosen the hotel (as they do hire you motorised bikes; the location is good and the food is actually not bad), but would love a great hotel to open in Bagan. But a good choice.

This is a nice place to stay in Old Bagan, you are literally between the temples! We had a grand deluxe room, which was really nice. It's a kind of small bungalow with one more bungalow attached to yours. These kinds of rooms don't come with river views but considering the noise from the boats (sometimes really early in the morning) we didn't mind. Bed is good. Bathroom in general is ok, but our shower was not ok at all. Only midgets would have been able to stand under it and it also fell down ten times during one shower.
Breakfast is really nice, especially when it is buffet style (when we were there it sometimes was so quiet that they served an a la carte breakfast).
Wifi is a bit shaky in the rooms and they also change passwords every few days, but you have to figure out for yourself when that is....
This hotel has been around for quite a few years and compared to the brand new hotels that pop up everywhere in Myanmar it seems a bit rundown. But the comparison is not really fair of course. Staff is nice and speaks rather good English. We had some issues with a leaking sink in the bathroom and it was taken care of immediately.
The ebikes that you can rent at the hotel are awesome!!!

We went during July (low season) rainy season. The hotel was very reasonably priced the rooms were spacious and nice, breakfast was amazing, the staff helpful, pool and spa were enjoyable after our tours. There are few hotels in Myanmar that their price fits the value they offer. This hotel matches and exceeds!

Room Tip: Go during Rainy season for best price and low occupancy in the hotel!

Had originally planned to stay for 3 nights, but extended to 5 instead. The hotel is clean, breakfast great and it's a real oasis to relax and chill as the afternoon temperatures climb towards the high 30's. The staff are all welcoming and try to resolve any issues. Having ebikes available for hire is great, so you can explore temples and go out for dinner (one bike ran out of charge and a replacemnet was with us in less than 10 minutes - the poor staff member had a 2k walk back).

We stayed at aye yar river view for 2 nights and then loved it so much we extended our stay to three!

This resort is great value for money, especially with the low season prices, impeccable resort accommodation for the price of a regular hotel!

Lovely staff, always looking to to above and beyond, lovely grounds and an incredible pool! Which is just perfect for a break in the afternoons after riding around and seeing the temples (especially during happy hour 4-7pm with 2 for 1 cocktails for $3!!).

Only thing I would recommend is heading outside to hire electric bikes for touring the temples, you can get them a bit cheaper directly outside the hotel gate and they are a lot newer and more modern!

Breakfast is good with a large variety to cater to many tastes, restaurant is a bit more pricey than other places but the quality definitely makes up for it!

An incredible place, adored our stay here and would love the opportunity to come back again!!

didn't get us enthousiast although everything was ok, or good, and well organised - almost no clients, restaurant too bad either, far from other restaurants so you need transportation, but close to main temples
