“A beautiful oasis”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 April 2014

The bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious and beautifully designed, the staff are delightful and extremely helpful and the pool and garden were a welcome escape from the midday sun.
Lovely breakfasts in the open air restaurant and gardena and a dinner menu that features both western and Myanmar choices (the Myanmar curries were delicious).
OK wifi near the restaurant and open air bar - good enough for email, not fast enough for video.
Not as central a location as Old Bagan, but the staff can swiftly arrange a car or e-bikes (at very reasonable cost) and bicycles were free to use.
Would stay again.

I stayed in a few hotels in Myanmar, and due to the influx of tourist the hotel prices were generally extremely high for what I received. At the Blue Bird Hotel I actually felt like I was getting what I paid for.
The hotel had a boutique feel to it. The rooms were great, large in size, a lounge area, a DVD player which was very handy during the quiet nights, good AC and a couple of power boards with universal adapters. The shower was in it's own room. It was a waterfall type shower which I quite liked. Not the most powerful fall of water however it was better than the water pressure of my other hotels and it was always hot.
The hotel is not really close enough to the sights without the use of a car, and there's not much nearby except other hotels. The hotel organised a car driver for two day tours. For $40 a day the driver picked me up at 8am, dropped my back at the hotel for a rest after lunch, then picked me up around 3pm for the afternoon. The sights are close enough to see several in a day. I covered around 15 good sights each day, and saw all the temples that I wanted to see. I recommend asking the driver to take you to a traditional Myanmar restaurant for lunch. About 20 small plates come out for meals that I enjoyed the most in Myanmar.
The restaurant at the hotel was nice from a location and ambiance view, however the menu is limited. The meals are okay but it would have been nice to have more local options.
If I return to Bagan I would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is gorgeous. Definitely a little gem in Myanmar. I think it's ideal for couples, though I was traveling solo. The lobby is the first thing you see, and it is beautiful and inviting, with little paintings of birds up on the wall and some books laying around to pique your interest.

The rooms are large, simple, private and quiet. The bathroom is probably the highlight. It is massive, with a very creative shower that is half-indoor half-outdoor. It has this little waterfall type of spout unlike anything I've seen. Really lovely. Could spend hours in there.

The bed is nice and has the TV right at the foot in an armoire, which worked for me. There is also a little couch area.

Unfortunately, wifi doesn't really work throughout the premises, which is a pity because I require wifi constantly. Most travelers might not, but as I am often on business it is essential. So, I did most of my work in the lovely garden next to the pool. When I was there, guests were few. So, it was very quiet. The garden has a bunch of benches and tables and plenty of private places to sit. Same goes for the pool, which is sunny and surrounded by flowers and foliage.

The staff were wonderful! All locals, and all very kind and genuinely interested in guests without being overbearing, fawning or annoying. One of the men taught me how to properly tie my longyi. The food at the restaurant was also quite nice. Nothing too special, but fine for me.

The hotel also will help you organize tours or rent e-Bikes. I rented an e-Bike and had a nice time using it to go around and see Bagan. In terms of location this is not so far from anything, really. 15 minutes will get you just about anywhere. When booking a hotel you'll probably have a lot of questions about where to stay, Old Bagan, New Bagan or elsewhere... but I thought this was an ideal location.

You can see that this hotel is really striving to succeed on all fronts and has staff who really want to do well. I was satisfied with my stay and would love to come back here and stay again. I loved it. Also, the price was right!

This is a small hotel in New Bagan with perfect location to visit the temples. You will need a taxi to go to temples but you could also use the rental bikes available at the hotel if it is not too hot.
The hotel is beautiful. The rooms are large comfortable and the cement floor keeps it cooler. The pool is nice and with quite a bit of shade during the midday. Everybody is sooooooo nice!. A lady at the front desk actually took the time to go to the local market to buy a hair ornament for my wife, on her own time. Amazing.
The breakfast in the morning is good. Good place to stay while in Bagan.

Our 2 nights stay here was every cent well spent, as service and hospitality by staff were nothing short of excellent. We bought their special package which included free daily e-bike rental (4h for 1st day, 8h for 2nd day & 4h for 3rd day), simple but adequate breakfast and a sumptuous 3 course Burmese dinner. Staff were polite, friendly and very accommodating. If you have any needs or concerns, just talk to them. A number of them can converse well enough in English, and if they can't, they will find someone who can communicate better. They were beyond helpful for us, and they will only keep getting better with their service because the management actually does listen to feedback and pay attention to reviews by guests. The staff apologized upon check in for their weak and slow WiFi connection, so there was really no cause to be upset because they did managed our expectations from the start rather than over-promise anything they could not deliver. We never rode the manual bicycles even though they were free for use throughout the stay. E-bikes were easy to use and made more sense in the hot sun. Pool was pretty small and few guests were seen using it, although it was quite enticing during this hot and dry season. Room was spacious, well-designed and furnished with lovely lacquerware made locally in Bagan. We had room 401 which faces the corner of the poolside and has a nice sofa corner and spacious bathroom. Bed was big, clean and comfortable with a lovely mosquito net over it. You can watch television from the bed, and there is an attached DVD player. DVDs and books are also available for rent at no cost from the frontdesk, but don't expect recent movies on the shelf. We took a cab from Bagan train station after walking out towards the main road so they don't try to rip us off, and showed the driver the hotel address in Burmese given to us by the hotel (paid 5,000 kyat, remember to bargain). I have attached the picture here in case anybody needs to use it for reference too. Highly recommended for couples, friends and individuals who want a nice, chill place to retreat at after a long day out to Old Bagan and beyond.

I stayed here in January 2014 and I thought the hotel was great. The staff were so friendly, the rooms, pool and restaurant were so clean and the food was great too. I really couldn't fault it. I would definitely stay here again - the staff work so hard to ensure your stay is as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

I stayed there with my boyfriend and we really loved this place. They arranged everything for his birthday from the tour, to the cake and even wrote 'happy birthday' in petals and gave him a card signed by all the staff. The hotel is beautiful, the staff is friendly, and the food is very good (amazing breakfast). The only downside are the location (a little bit away from temples) but they have a free shuttle in the evening to go to restaurants. The food is really good but the menu could be a little more exhaustive. Overall highly recommended.
