I really enjoyed my stay at Umbra. Location was perfect and i could rent a e-bike (8 dollars per day) to get around. So much fun! They also had a pool and it was just like in the pictures ;) The staff did everything to make you feel welcome and also served you food/drinks wherever you wanted.

The rooms were clean the staff were friendly and helpful. Could do with a few more beds around the pool. But the star of the show were the breakfasts! Delicious and lots of it! The hotel is well located with a number of restaurants within walking distance.

Yes certain rooms are run down, not very clean and overpriced for what you get.

I chose it for the location and for the pool and it did not disappoint. The breakfast was better than I was expecting, we had an old room opposite the pool and we didnt suffer with any noise. The staff (guys) on the drive were a pleasure to deal with

We went next door to the small local shop and picked up some mosquito coils and they were gone pretty quick.

Dont be fooled in getting a massage arranged by the front desk. Its very cheap but terrible.

The hotel is between Nyuang U and Old Bagan and, with a bicycle, in a great location to explore the temples and pagodas. There are some decent restaurants close by, but the restaurant at the hotel is actually pretty good and the woman who seems to run it is very kind and helpful. The rooms were adequate with good A/C but nothing fancy. However, they are building a brand new "wing" that looks to be nice. Of course, it will probably be more expensive also. There is a swimming pool which was a real plus after coming home from biking around the pagodas in the heat and dust and it was quiet at night for a good sleep.

Room Tip: I stayed in the building in the back on the second floor behind the pool and liked it.

The room was pretty basic but clean and the pillows were uncomfortable. The air conditioning was great.
Staff were wonderful and the restaurant was great value.

The hotel itself is in between old Bagan and Nyuang U, one night it was raining and taxis wouldn't come out the the hotel which made it impossible to get to a restaurant. The hotel has a restaurant though which serves decent food at good prices.

The pool looked good and people were enjoying it, although I didn't use it.

Not sure that I"d stay again, mostly due to location. Although the hotel does have bikes and ebikes for hire.

The Bagan Umbra is in a good location. The breakfast is good. The closet smelled like mothballs. Our bathroom had a strong sewer smell. The swimming pool is a nice touch, because Bagan can be hot and dusty.

Stayed for four nights in one of the superior rooms in the rear complex. Room was serviceable and reasonably clean but unremarkable. Noise from adjacent rooms was significant. Wifi slow and often unreliable. Breakfast was mediocre. Service tended to be impersonal but efficient.

The location is very convenient for those who want to hire a bike and ride off into the plain to explore the temples. A few restaurants close by and many others only a 10 min ride away in Nyaung U.

Probably ok value for money by Bagan standards.

Overall OK but nothing special.
