“Good value for hotel with a pool”
Reviewed 31 March 2014

The room and pool area could have certainly benefited from some maintenance but all things considered, this was the best value hotel we stayed in during the entire trip.

Our (two) rooms were large and included a/c, private bath, television and a balcony. From the balcony on our room we looked out over the pool grounds and could see pagodas just off the hotel property.

Wi-Fi in the room was a bit sketchy but we got a good signal in the lobby. We found the staff to be extremely friendly and willing to go out of their way to be helpful

The Kumudara was great, although a little expensive. I loved the location of the hotel, set far out among the temples. It was extremely peaceful, although it did make for some interesting night bike riding to get into town for dinner. We had asked for a room with a view of the temples, but got a room with a deck that faced a wall and a stagnant pond that was surely the breeding ground for every mosquito on the Bagan plains. The room was very spacious and clean, with a great sitting area and comfortable bed. And it was great in the midday heat to take a dip in the pool!

We stayed in late 2013 and really enjoyed it, the staff was very friendly and the room was very clean, good aircon and has a great view over the tombs. Meals are great, we liked having meals in the outdoor restaurant.
Pool is small but you can really relax as it's set away from the noisy areas of hotel. The only thing that once has to concern that the wifi is not free from your room, which is not convenient for those traveling with work combined. We definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Bagan, Myanmar.

Dear Zaw Zaw and Kumudara Hotel,

I booked in advanced for 2 nights for the superior room.
I enjoyed my stay and would love to thank you all for your special place.

My room was very large with beautiful balcony and amazing view over the temples.
Bathroom needs some maintenance.....

Good breakfast and Restaurant available.
Booked from the hotel for a taxi to mount Popa and had great time with best very kind driver.
I forgot my coat at the taxi at the end of the day, and after 10 min a guy on a motorbike came to bring it to the reception, thanks again!

This pool was a real treat with the best view ever, I enjoyed swimming a lot but towels
were missing and the pool area was not clean.
The location was exactly what I needed, isolated and quiet, 5 min walk for sunrise/sunset view

I would definitely stay here again and recommend this hotel!!!
Thank you for making my stay in Bagan very special.

Stayed here on our second stop in Myanmar, and it was a great place to stay. Due to a scheduling error by me, we arrived a day before our reservation started. The staff worked with me and changed the reservation without any additional charges and accommodated my friend and I on the spot. Excellent location, right in the midst of the temples and there is a convenient place to rent an e-bike right down the road (highly recommend over a regular bicycle!). There are cheaper places to stay, but it was worth a little extra to have the pool after a long day.

Lovely staff , nice rooms and a wonderful pool surrounded by the temples of bagan, breakfast is available early which is a must when using a bike to explore began, as it gets very hot by 1pm , when you'll want to be back for a siesta and a swim.

Room Tip: Some of the cheaper rooms overlooking the pool and temples are cool and peaceful.

After days of crap dirty hotels and rickety transport, I was looking forward

to this hotel expecting, from the description, a degree of comfort.

However, it seems to suffer from a lack of good management, the outside

areas were scruffy and badly maintained and the balcony of our room was

never cleaned. We both suffered from upset stomachs after eating at the

restaurant, and when I looked at the kitchen I thought I could see why.

Breakfast was a poor choice of asian dishes with toast and butter (jam if

you asked) for the Europeans. The hotel has a lovely situation

overlooking a quieter area of the temples and is far enough away from

town to be peaceful and quiet. It also has a nice pool but it is poorly

maintained and needed cleaning badly. The wifi signal was very weak and

internet connection was a joke. Reception would send you to the bottom

of the road to hire electric bikes, but they have hard uncomfortable saddle

seats like a bike. Try to find "Perfect Bike Rental" who have E-bikes with

seats like a motorbike, the difference is amazing.

The rooms were reasonably clean inside, and would have been ok had it

not been for the hard beds. This hotel has obviously seen better times in

the past, and it is a pity that the management does not try harder to keep

up the standards.
