Amazing Bagan Resort
Ranked #5 of 48 Hotels in Bagan
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 21 August 2014

From the serene and well-kept pool area to the spacious Mandalay-style bungalows, Amazing Bagan Resort checks all the boxes.

LOCATION: easy access by foot, bike, or car to dining/entertainment hub, Nyaung U, and a convenient jumping-off point for a day of temple-hopping. The Resort loans bicycles for a nominal fee and electric bicycles for $4/half day or $8/full day. Ten minutes to the airport. Twenty minutes by foot to Nyaung U. Temples anywhere from around the corner to 20 minutes by electric bike.

RESORT: The staff is friendly and capable. The rooms (at least in the bungalow suites) are large and clean. At $7 per person, the breakfast buffet is not the cheapest option, but it has plenty of delicious (and Western) options. Note there is not an ATM on site.

One of the best places that I've stayed at in my Asian travels over the years. You really get a lot for your money here. The rooms are spacious, clean and everything works as it should, the staff are very helpful, the food is good and fairly priced for this type of hotel, the pool is clean and great to have after a day out and about.

The hotel provides free bicycles and e-bikes for about $8 a day and is also quite well located within easy riding distance of eat street and many of the pagodas.

Being Myanmar, the power is not that reliable and I did experience a blackout one evening, but that just added to the overall experience.

I would happily stay here again

This hotel presents nice infrastructures and a very good location for the visit of temples. Undoubtedly, besides those two characteristics, the main advantage of this place is its staff. While always being cheerful, everybody tries to fulfill all your needs at any time. In particular the concierge, Mr. Shane Htet Aung is very proactive, efficient and sympathetic! You can count on him to help you for any tourism purpose, and even help you before you had the opportunity to ask anything.
I would definitely recommend this place!

We had a great time at Amazing Bagan. The staff was really friendly and accommodating, the rooms were spacious, clean and quiet and the pool area was fantastic to lounge around in after a morning of sightseeing. Highly recommend renting e-bikes to explore the beautiful temples of Bagan.

Stayed in Amazing Bagan Resort in July 2014 for 4 days. Despite the little cheesy name, this resort hotel was actually amazing.

Location:
this hotel is located about 10-15 min away from the Nyaung Oo airport (by taxi) and about 3-5 min away from the Nyaung Oo village (by taxi or motorbike), one of the main villages in Bagan area. The hotel provides a free bicycle so you can even ride to the Nyaung Oo village. However, the hotel is located a little far away from Old Bagan (the main sightseeing area) - you can still ride a bicycle to get to the Old Bagan (about 20-30 min ride) but this cannot be recommended unless you are physically fit as the weather in Bagan can be REALLY hot (especially during June - September). You can rent an e-bicycle (8,000 kyat/ USD8 for 8 hours) or charter a taxi (about 15,000 - 20,000 kyat/ 15-20 USD).

Hotel and Hotel Staff:
- Welcome drink upon check-in!
- Good selection of Breakfast Buffet
- Hotel provides free Wifi, but sometimes the connections are unstable..
- There is an outside swimming pool and Spa. 1 hour massage = USD23 / 1.5 hours = USD29
- Hotel provides tours in the Bagan area. Also, if you want to get to Yangon/Mandalay or other areas by bus, flights etc...hotel staffs help you to arrange tickets on behalf of you.
- Hotel staffs speak very good English. All staffs I met during my stay were SO friendly and SO hospitable. One staff even explained a history of Myanmar/Bagan for 30 min or so...which I thought was very interesting and helpful.

Room:
Very clean and spacious. Free wifi connections in each room but again the connections are sometimes unstable. Complimentary water (2 bottles) are provided each day during your stay.
There are safe box and fridge in each room.

Overall, I was actually "amazed" by the quality of this hotel resort. Whether you are a solo traveler, with a group of friends or with a family, I can highly recommend this hotel to anyone!

Room Tip: You might want to ask for a room located on the 2nd floor.

This is indeed a wonderful hotel in Bagan, undoubtedly one of the best in BAGAN. The whole design of the hotel and in fact the whole area is very well done with good taste. Lots of greens and land around the hotel; away from the dust and noise of the city. The rooms are spacious and tastefully furnished; with comfortable bed and clean beddings. There are led TV ( global stations, even Channel News Asia!) , TEA/COFFEE maker, fridge, save....The bathroom is clean and well supplied. There is a big and well designed swimming pool; with attendance and poolside bar, opening late into the evening. The buffet breakfast is good both in quality and choice; and the ambience is good extending the dinning area into the garden, emerging with nature and birds, squirrels...!!! The hotel provides free bicycle and motorised cycles @ US$4/8 for 4/8 hours usage. The staff are friendly and helpful; especially the conceige, Mr SHANE HTET AUNG, who is very helpful and friendly. Very good value for money !

Room Tip: Try to get a bungalow; else ask for lower floor, as this is a walk-up type levels.

We are not resort travellers by any means. But being offered low season "special" prices, it would only cost a few dollars more than our typical accommodation budget. So we thought we would lash out and live the high life.

More importantly, a quick review of the Trip Advisor reviews sealed the deal. This place looks like it lives up to its name. Besides, the swimming pool was also a big consideration for us.

Fortunately we were not disappointed. Though called a resort, it felt like more of a really nice hotel. Not huge. Small enough to receive personal attention.

The included breakfast is as good as it gets. The swimming pool large enough to do laps and very clean. The staff all exceptional. They are genuinely friendly and helpful unlike many places where it is obvious that this is part of their job description.

We had a bungalow room. Very large. Clean. Everything we wanted. The bed was absolutely huge. Don't know why as it seemed a little over the top. I suppose they have to fill the large room with something.

The prices also very good for ancillary items such as beer etc.

It is a 20 minute walk of $3 taxi to "town". Not a big problem by any means.

Free bike hire is provided but they are old and heavy clunkers. No gears. Not really suitable for anything. Hire an e-bike for $8 instead. A far better transport option by far,

Overall, we were pleasantly surprised with our choice. I suggest you won't be either.

P.S Also amazing was being offered a very early check in. Obviously not possible at all times, but really appreciated it after an early morning flight arrival.

Room Tip: Bungalows an excellent choice if available. Close to the pool.
