“Excellent food but needs a manager”
Reviewed 28 February 2014

We shared a Roma pizza and bottle of wine. The thin crust pizza was excellent. The Itallian chef, originally from the Amalfi coast, chatted and gave us a tour of his impressive and spotless kitchen.
The well meaning Burmese staff tried hard but had no clue about what wines they had and there was no wine list. Seems like this brand new restaurant is badly in need of a manager to bring the organization of the place up to the same level as the food. All in all we very much enjoyed our meal and finished with a perfect esspresso made by the chef himself.
Myanmar, and Bagan in particular is experiencing such an explosion of tourism that growing pains like this are not unexpected. Definitely worth going if you are looking for a nice change from Myanmar food.

“Food good, staff trying, chef not kind to staff”
Reviewed 17 February 2014

In a nutshell:
- we were greeted by the Italian chef, who seemed nice enough at first, but in no time started to complain about and berate the Myanmar staff who were trying their best
- He's been there six months, and didn't know what wine was available or the cost of the wine; and takes no responsibility for this.
- We heard lots of raucous discussions and arguments from the kitchen
- If the chef doesn't like living in Bagan - and he pretty much said as much - he should move
- The food was flavourful.. but -- the pasta was way undercooked. I understand al dente, but this was just unpleasantly hard. The foccacia was burnt. The deserts were not ready and took 20 minutes to serve. Tiramisu and pannacotta should be prepared in advance, set and chilled. These were not.
- The Myanmar staff were trying hard, but had no support from the chef and no apparent management.
- This restaurant could be good if the chef had a better attitude and the staff received supportive management and training.
- Some of the wine is $250 by the way - but you won't find a price tag on any bottle or a wine list. They don't even carry Myanmar wine - which tastes fine enough.
- The bar didn't have the usual Italian aperitifs, and in fact had several bottles of no-name spirits.
- This looks like an overpriced expensive restaurant plopped down into a poor town, with no real thinking about how to make it fit in. The owners need to rethink this venture.

“Great Itlalian food when you least expect it!”
Reviewed 15 February 2014

Excellent pasta and pizza! After days of trying out new food, one is dying to find some place where one can get good, familiar cuisine that fills you and satisfies your hunger. We found the Library and were rewarded with one of the best Italian cuisine in Myanmar!

“Great atmosphere but an average pizza.”
Reviewed 9 February 2014

Both my uncle and aunt loves their pizza but as an American who loves thick crust, this was not as good as I expected. A bit blend for my taste and since it was thin crust pizza, it was burnt and tasted bitter. The bread was excellent though and service was great. Chef went around and say hi to other tables but skipped ours. Oh well, they have live music in the backyard at least.

“Excellent italian cuisine”
Reviewed 1 February 2014

Real Italian cuisine as in Italy, of course, the chef is from Italy ! Nice terrasse in a garden in the backyards with live singer in the evening. A little bit more pricey than the other Western style restaurant but worthwhile as you get the Italian food, even "café macchiato".
