Less than an hour out of Kathmandu, Dwarika's Resort-Dhulikhel is a Himalayan oasis, offering fantastic food, impeccable service, and full spa and yoga activities in a magnificent setting, on an expansive, beautifully designed and executed property. The food choices included international, perfectly executed, Nepali and a separate restaurant for vegan Japanese. We experienced and loved all. We took a 'hike' to the organic farm which supplies the restaurants, and tried many of the activities, including including meditation, yoga and pottery.

Room Tip: We had two rooms in different buildings. Both were excellent.

We booked our trip to Nepal after some deliberation about where to go to spend some quality "down time" and also enjoy some walking in a special part of the world.

Booking our stay was made easy by the very efficient team in Kathmandu with very quick responses to questions that we had. Bhumie was always very prompt and made sure that all the arrangements were made.

Upon arrival we were met by the front of house team comprising Syvil, Satish and Ram who were soon to prove to be some of the most reliable, friends and hard working staff we have ever met. They ensured that our 6 night stay was one of the most memorable we have ever had.

Dwarikas Resort is not simply a hotel ...... It's a way of life set in some of the most majestical beauty in the World with meditation, Yoga and Ayurveda treatments. Truly Amazing!!!

From day 1 to our final moments of our 6 night stay we were treated to some of the most delicious organic food (grown on Dwarikas own farm) that we have ever tasted served by some of the friendliest staff we have met on our travels around the world...... nothing was ever too much trouble.

Rooms at Dwarikas are magnificent with views across to the Lantang range. We even had the opportunity to sleep under the stars on our own roof terrace. Absolutely beautiful and not to be missed.

We were shown by a wonderful group of people at Dwarikas that the Nepali way of life is so rich in many different ways. You will leave feeling very honoured to have spent just a short amount of time with them.

Staying at Dwarikas Resort is not a holiday........ it's a journey set in a place of tranquility, beauty, health and most of all a journey with people that really do care.

Room Tip: Try and get a roof terrace if one is available.

This Himalayan mountain retreat is a really great place to relax and enjoy luxurious accommodations.

The "trekkers" massage (Binad was my masseuse) was one of the best deep-tissue types of treatments I've ever had and a great value.

The resort mostly caters to a 'healing', yoga-oriented well-heeled crowd, and the prices are to match. However you will get your money's worth as the staff works extra hard to ensure your needs are met.

In addition, the grounds have excellent meal service, plush and clean suites with breathtaking views, and a huge selection of 'activities' such as yoga and meditation sessions, 'sounding rooms,' a rock salt chamber, infinity pool, and outdoor games and walking paths.

I had two yoga/meditation sessions with Yogi Netra Acharya (I had only planned on attending one but he was so good that I woke up early the next day for his sunrise class). These were a highlight of my brief stay. While I am not very good at yoga (and I have not practiced it regularly), Netra was patient with me and encouraging during our class. He modified the exercises while keeping them challenging and he has a pleasant, calm demeanor that adds to the overall experience.

If there is one 'minus,' and it only applies to certain potential hotel guests, the grounds are situated on a cliffside and you will be going up and down LOTS of stairs to get around the property (starting with your room). While there are porters to carry your luggage, it's important to remember about the stairs if you are easily winded (at high altitudes no less) or not in reasonable enough shape to handle them every day. Seniors may have difficulty.

Room Tip: “There are no 'bad' rooms, however if you are concerned about the stair climbing you should...

Only a short stop so we did not get the opportunity to experience the full range of the facilities on offer. This is a place to chill out and enjoy the chance t recharge your batteries, with Yoga meditation extensive treatments and wonderful food
Our room was fantastic with its own roof terrace enjoying spectacular views. The gardens are beautiful and offer lots of walks but the resort is on a hill side which does mean lots of stairs They plan to introduce golf buggies to get us old fogies about more easily . A place we hope to revisit in the not to distant future, especially as the staff are so very kind and welcoming which makes it even nicer.

Room Tip: All the rooms are special it depends the level you wish to pay but make sure to ask for the mountain...

Loved Nepal and the Dwarika hotels are fabulous. This was a great add on to our India Northern Triangle itinerary.

We arrived via a direct flight from Varanasi which was short and convenient. The transfer to Dhulikhel was an hour and bumpy at the end. We stayed here for 2 nights which gave us a full day 'off' to enjoy the hotel. 2 days later we were collected and visited Bhaktapur (must see) on route to the Kathmandu Dwarika where we also stayed 2 nights. We then flew back to New Delhi. This itinerary worked really well and it was especially good to have a day relaxing after Varanasi.

The hotel is set on the mountain side facing the distant Himalayas and has awesome views and excellent service. We were upgraded and our room was amazing.

The hotel kindly woke us and transported us up the hill to enjoy the most beautiful sunrise. We were looked after with blankets, hot water bottles and honey and lemon tea.

We enjoyed a full day at the hotel making the most of the complimentary extras: therapeutic Salt Room, Chakra chanting, Pottery &Yoga. I also enjoyed a Singing Bowl treatment.

If your room is cold don't wait before asking for a heater. The heating air con is not that effective and very drying. They can easily sort you out.

They are planning to heat the pool and this will make it even better.

The downside of all the amazing views are the steps, steps, steps and I found the air a little thin which didn’t help - but breathing is much easier than in Tibet. If you can manage this then it is well worth a stay to enjoy the uniqueness of this resort.

This is the second time we have visited this wonderful resort / hotel since it reopened back in the beginning of October last year. We were there for 2 nights only three weeks after its official re-opening. We mentioned in our last review that this resort had the potential to become a world-class property. Well they certainly did not disappoint us. Back in October, despite it being new it was already special for us and we rated it 5 stars. If there was a higher rating to give, then we would give it on this particular visit.

The staff really make this place, they are really unbelievable with their personable, caring and friendly attitudes ... from the management team consisting of Satish (Food & Beverages), Pramod (the Chef - who prepares very creative & beautiful meals from the resort's own organic farm & herb garden), Guruji /(Mr Basnet (the Spa), and Ram & Syvil (Guest Relations) together with all or their staff.

On this trip, we saw a different side to the Resort and of the Dwarika's philosophy on how they treat people in general and their guests. Unfortunately, this time my wife was sick having caught a virus on our travels in Nepal. Everyone from the support staff to management all showed their concern for my wife and wished her a speedy recovery. The Dwarika's Doctor (Dr. Sanjay) from Kathmandu came up to Dhulikhel in the morning (only an hour after being requested) to see my wife. After the consultation, he provided his contact details so we could ring him anytime should we have any further concerns.

Gurugi, the person in charge of the Spa, even came to our room twice, both at night, to give my wife reflexology / foot massage to make her more comfortable and to assist in her recovery.

What a service from a truly magnificent organisation. One can really understand why both Dwarika's Hotel in Kathmandu and their Resort in Dhulikhel are rated so highly by its guests.
