It is located on the right bank of River Chitral, next to the Shahi Mosque. Reportedly, its outer walls are more than 250 years old while the fort itself is more than 100 years old. The compound used to house the living barracks of the guards of Mehtar of Chitral as well as his palace. The facility includes the place for Mehtar's durbar/ court, his living, office, a mosque besides other rooms. Artifacts from that era are very well preserved and so are the pictures of mehtars of Chitral. One can also see the Instrument of Accession of the Chitral State to Pakistan (in original) besides some other valuable documents. However, it is not open to general public due to being private property.
