“zip line in picnic grove aTerrible idea”
Reviewed 8 July 2014

The local gov't of Tagaytay did a terrible thing to Picnic Grove. They built a Zip Line structure right smack in the middle of the field where visitors used to admire the view of Taal Volcano. The steel structure is actually blocking the beautiful lake and the volcano. Now, it's almost impossible to take a photo of Taal Volcano without the Zip Line structure in the foreground. The field is also where fathers and their kids fly their kites just like I do with my son. Now, it's no longer advisable to fly a kite coz your kite line can easily get tangled in the wires above you. Whoever thought of this is a real idiot in my opinion. I'm not going there again. tsk tsk tsk.

Place for zipline, good view and horse back riding. The place might get crowded during weekends. An okay spot of Tagaytay and this place is a MAJOR CAUSE OF TRAFFIC

“Summer Escape”
Reviewed 1 June 2014

Picnic grove is just an hour drive from Manila via SLEX through Sta. Rosa exit or You can take Aguinaldo Highway but it will take more time if you chose the latter. If you have no car, no problem. You can take a bus from EDSA rotunda or from Gil Puyat (Buendia) with sign boards MENDEZ – TAGAYTAY/NASUGBU. The fare from Manila to Tagaytay is around Php 110-130 ($2.5). Then from Tagaytay rotunda, you will ride a Tricycle to Picnic grove will cost you around Php50. From the entrance you will pay Php50 each person while if you have a car/van the fixed parking fee is Php35/50. Cottage rental is optional since there are free tables everywhere.

The park (Picnic Grove) is a relaxing place, right from approaching Tagaytay, you will feel the cool breeze and the fresh air. There are lots of trees and pine trees around so you will not worry where to find a shade to hide from the hot sun. You can do a lot of things like, Biking, Kite flying, horseback riding. They also offer Zipline and Cable car which cost you around 200/300 one way, the price is really negotiable so you can test your bargaining skills. In my personal opinion, the main attraction of this place is the nice view of majestic Taal Volcano which is really fascinating. This place is really meant for Picnics (that is why Picnic grove is a fitting name), where you can enjoy with your family, you can bring foods, but there are restaurants inside the vicinity, but be wary about the prices.

About the downside, during summer season (peak season) which is between March-May, There are lot of tourists coming, so sanitation and crowd control is highly compromised. Specially to those uncivilized tourist who litters and vandalizes the supposed to be a clean and beautiful place. So, better to visit this place during off-peak season like December- February, but not on rainy days because first, some part of the park became muddy so you are prone to slippage since it is a plateau to downhill, and secondly, you will not visualize the Taal Volcano which is covered by fog/mist.

Overall, Picnic grove is worth a visit with your family or friends.
