i booked a deluxe room at expedia but later asked for an upgrade to a better Premier Room. my wife talked to Christian who was very helpful in getting us this great view room. having coffee at the veranda overlooking the lake is a fantastic experience. a little bit noisy at the ground level with children playing. the room is large and the free wifi was great

Not a five or four star but a lovely hotel sprawled over a large property. The room was incredibly spacious and large, offering basic amenities. Like the previous reviewer noticed, the bathroom had a separate shower stall and toilet at opposite ends with a vanity sink in the middle, but there was absolutely no door otherwise. So unless you're a couple or a single in that room, this is very awkard. View is ok, but corridors are not soundproof (wooden floors) so any guests walking by or chatting especially late at night echoes down the corridor and can otherwise disturb your sleep. Food is ok but service staff can be extremely slow and required frequent prompting to fetch a cup of tea or coffee, or even water.

Great TAAL VOLCANO View... Rooms are quite huge. I just don't like their bath and toilet as it has no door. Makes such uncomfy feeling on your personal rituals especially when you're sharing room with someone.... :)

Generally the hotel got a lot bigger than before.
it has the best view of Taal Lake and the volcano.
Just across the horse back riding area.
Great Food!

Sorry but I have never had a room so far from the dining area/lobby/pool!

Room Tip: make sure to reserve closest to the lobby.

We stayed in a deluxe room, east wing (the new building). The room is just the right size with a comfy bed and pillows plus a couch. It has a flat screen tv and coffee/tea making pot/amenites. Choose a room with a garden view/horseback riding view side or the lake side. The only downside is...the toilet has no bidet. I wonder why... due the east wing is new and most of the new hotels now...their toilets has bidet. Nevertheless, the room is clean, well-decorated and spacious.

Also, the hotel has a magnificent view of the Taal volcano and their view deck is amazing....Picture perfect. The hotel exudes the old world charm of Tagaytay.

Breakfast buffet/lunch and dinner is very good. Has many variety and price is reasonable.

The staff are courteous, fast and checking-in and out is a breeze.

We always stay in this hotel whenever we are in Tagaytay.

Got to spent one night in this hotel . Actually have been staying at this place every other year since it was been brought back to life by the powerful Sy (of SM ) family. This hotel was really huge , but since they have opening different hotel wing after every 3-4 years it seems to lack a proper masterplan , although if you look from the outside, it doesn't seem like it. I booked through Agoda for a deluxe room in the new lakeside wing, and yes , it doesn't have a good view from my room . The room was spacious, and looks nice , with good lighting, fresh perfumed smell and with a huge flat screen tv with multiple channels. I noticed however , that the toilet doesn't have a main door , only a frosted glass type for each enclosure . the airconditioning was good, and even though the room is not soundproof , it is not of a much big issue for me. I very much like the free and fast wi-fi , very much different than before when they charge for such services . The buffet breakfast that they offer was fair enough . The food tastes very much average , and service quite inconsistent, but i tend to understand, given the chaotic situation they are into when the guests arrive to dine at almost the same time . Cafe on the Ridge coffeeshop claims to offer the best buffet in Tagaytay , well i won't give a definite positive response to that assertion. Since this hotel is a favorite place for local residents, and good for MICE / team buliding activities, i would suggest some rebranding with a franchise the owners have a tie up with, such as Radisson or Park Inn, and once this happens, it will geta more popular and international feel to it.

Room Tip: always ask for those with Taal volcano view

our family spent an overnight stay in this hotel last dec 8 to celebrate my 12th wedding anniversary on dec 9. the greeters at the door were all accommodating but the staff at the reception table seemed to favor the foreigners more than people with the same color of skin as theirs. I was standing behind a foreigner while waiting for my turn to check-in. the staff was all smiles while facilitating the reservation of the foreigner. when it was my turn, I even greeted the staff with merry christmas but she just smiled and took my computer-output paper (my husband reserved the room online). considering that she might be already tired from a day's work I passed the incident. a staff assisted us to our room which is way beloooooooooooooooooow and tooooooooooo far. the room is located 2 staircase below and at the end of te "tunnel"...it's not old-people friendly! The tub was not functioning and it took a second call before a room attendant went to our room (perhaps, because it's really faaaaaaaaaaaaaaar). The fridge smelled awful too!!!
Perhaps this hotel should consider adding another passageway to the "tunnel" which is nearer the main lobby....and treat all their guests equally and fairly whether they are foreigners or Filipinos. we are educated people who know how to give tips and pay courtesy to those who do so.
I've been in this hotel in the past and I have never experienced such awful treatment.
