“Upgrade on the facilities will make it better”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 August 2014

Booked 3 premier rooms at Taal Vista Hotel for the post-celebration of my son’s birthday. That was our second attempt as our initial booking was cancelled by the hotel due to the damage brought by a strong typhoon.

Taal Vista is one, if not the oldest, hotel in Tagaytay city. Staying at this hotel had been a childhood dream for me, it was the most beautiful structure that we used to see whenever we were passing by the city back then.

The premier rooms that we booked were situated in the lake wing on the highest floor (4th floor). Our view was splendid but the rooms and the hotel itself were lesser to my expectation.

The layout of the hotel was kind of confusing, the lift going to the rooms is situated on the second floor at the back area. We had to take the stairs to access the elevator.

Facilities in the hotel were quite unsatisfactory. The game room was stinking and dirty, the kids’ playroom looked dull and unhygienic, the gym could be mistaken as a storage! The swimming pool though was well-maintained but the water was not temperature-controlled – which I think is necessary because of Tagaytay’s cool weather (perhaps a jacuzzi will be a good addition to the hotel offerings!).

Meanwhile, the breakfast was awesome! The variety was good enough and the quality was top notch! However, most of the food offering in the buffet were catered to Filipinos. They have several hot dishes, egg station, pancakes, French toasts and waffles (for the Westerners ), salads and fresh fruits sections. They don’t have fresh fruit juice though. I loved their champorado, congee, daing and garlic fried rice! The ensaimadas, cheese bread and spanish breads in their baked goods section looked enticing but we were so full and have no space for that (perhaps when we come back).

Location of the hotel is perfect. It is next to Sky Ranch (an amusement park) and is nearby to good restaurants, bars and department store. Opposite of the hotel is the Casino and a Mc Donalds.

My folks did enjoy our stay at Taal Vista. Maybe we will come back when we go on vacation (to the Philippines) next year. That is, depending on the rates!

Room Tip: Room that has the view of the lake / Taal volcano.

Dear Ms Diane,

Thank you very much for your review on your recent with us.

We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the wonderful view of Taal Volcano from your lake view room. Breakfast at Cafe Veranda continues to be a long-time favorite among locals and guests alike.

It is unfortunate that your experience at our recreation facilities was less than pleasant. Do know that I have addressed the condition of the facilities with our team.

Taal Vista Hotel's premiere location sets the stage for all activities in Tagaytay and is within steps to Sky Ranch theme park.

We do thank you for your comments and look forward to hosting you on your next vacation.

Sincerely,

Faye Deloso

We have been staying in the hotel every month since summer and their very accommodating staff from the housekeeping and security personnel all the way up to the front desk and restaurant crew, there is always a ready smile and a sense of eagerness to please my family. Their executive chef makes an extra effort to attend to our needs and requests especially since we have kids with us who can get restless while waiting for their orders.

Nice tea time in the lobby. The sheer amount of people makes it difficult to have breakfast. Lots of conventions, weddings, etc made it not as enjoyable. Great location for views, the volcano, the skyranch.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel 3 months ago as it was recommended by a friend. Overall the place and room are alright. On the second day of our stay my husband notice a glare in a pin like hole on the corner of the television which we thought as a small camera. we called the attention of the manager because we were afraid that a video of us is being recorded.

We asked them to open the television right in front of us and indeed there is a small camera in there. we wanted to make sure that any videos of us be destroyed but they couldn't identify who put the camera in there instead they assured us that they will thoroughly investigate it and until now we haven't gave us a clear answer. We are in constant horror that a video of us could spread on the internet at any moment. we haven't received any demand from whoever put that camera in there which kept us thinking what is the purpose of that spy camera? the only thing i can think of is to blackmail us.

My girlfriend and I went to Taal Vista for one weekend. We arrived late in the evening, and the staff greeted us and made us feel very welcome from the start. The room was big, with lake view, even thou it was located on the first floor. I'm going to ask for a room in a higher floor to get an even better view next time. The view is fantastic from the hotel! :-)
There was 2 weddings at the hotel this saturday, with a party of course. The guest could easily be heard when going to their room that night. Almost no sound insulation.. Better doors would do good.
Breakfast s delicious and they had no problem with 700(waiter told me the amount) guests for the sunday breakfast.
We had a pleasant transport by one of the hotel's private drivers back to Manila. He told us they also have pickup service for those who don't want to use taxi. Taxis in Manila have no seat belts in the back seat, but the hotel cars have. That's one of the reasons I will use that transport next time.

Me and my family were very pleased with our stay here for 1 night. Breathtaking view of Taal volcano. Love the complimentary welcome drinks. Modern and spacious room as well. Talking about the breakfast buffet? Heavenly!!! All the Filipino food were craving for are there. Strongly recommend this hotel. :)

Both were terrific. The view cannot be beat - the hotel offering a wonderful view of Taal lake and the volcano. The breakfast buffet was well worth the money (and the drive). Offered a wide selection of food, both western and Filipino. The coffee, which I think was the so-called "baraco" local variety was very good. The hotel staff (at least those on duty in the restaurant) provided excellent service, were quick to respond to a request and very attentive (without being annoying). Will be back to actually stay at hotel as makes a great weekend getaway. The lake and the subsequent boat ride to the volcano was then an easy drive down the mountain.
