Booked 3 premier rooms at Taal Vista Hotel for the post-celebration of my son’s birthday. That was our second attempt as our initial booking was cancelled by the hotel due to the damage brought by a strong typhoon.
Taal Vista is one, if not the oldest, hotel in Tagaytay city. Staying at this hotel had been a childhood dream for me, it was the most beautiful structure that we used to see whenever we were passing by the city back then.
The premier rooms that we booked were situated in the lake wing on the highest floor (4th floor). Our view was splendid but the rooms and the hotel itself were lesser to my expectation.
The layout of the hotel was kind of confusing, the lift going to the rooms is situated on the second floor at the back area. We had to take the stairs to access the elevator.
Facilities in the hotel were quite unsatisfactory. The game room was stinking and dirty, the kids’ playroom looked dull and unhygienic, the gym could be mistaken as a storage! The swimming pool though was well-maintained but the water was not temperature-controlled – which I think is necessary because of Tagaytay’s cool weather (perhaps a jacuzzi will be a good addition to the hotel offerings!).
Meanwhile, the breakfast was awesome! The variety was good enough and the quality was top notch! However, most of the food offering in the buffet were catered to Filipinos. They have several hot dishes, egg station, pancakes, French toasts and waffles (for the Westerners ), salads and fresh fruits sections. They don’t have fresh fruit juice though. I loved their champorado, congee, daing and garlic fried rice! The ensaimadas, cheese bread and spanish breads in their baked goods section looked enticing but we were so full and have no space for that (perhaps when we come back).
Location of the hotel is perfect. It is next to Sky Ranch (an amusement park) and is nearby to good restaurants, bars and department store. Opposite of the hotel is the Casino and a Mc Donalds.
My folks did enjoy our stay at Taal Vista. Maybe we will come back when we go on vacation (to the Philippines) next year. That is, depending on the rates!
