“The true meaning of the City of Golden Friendship.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 March 2013

Nothing beats the true meaning of hospitality in this hotel. Most of the staffs are very friendly and accommodating. Thank you for the excellent service guys. Kudos! Rooms are clean and comfortable enough to sleep on and are provided with Cable TV, Air conditioned (works very well!) and with a hot and cold shower. The place is right in the heart of the city. Banks, Park, Taxi, Jeepney, Stores, Restaurant and a lot more are pretty near and easy to find from this hotel. Divisoria night Market that only happens on Friday and Saturday has a lot of things to do! We had it on the Friday night and I really had a good time, shopping (ukay-ukay of course :P) food, drinks, fruits, loud music, people dancing, massage on the park, and a lot more to see at Divisoria. It only takes few minutes walk from the crowd to get to our hotel room to rest and that we all like the most. Gonna stay here again if I will be given another chance to. :)

For the most part the staff was nice and accommodating and the location to things was really nice. But, there were some short comings that if improved would make this and excellent place to stay for budget minded individuals.

The room we were in did not have a level floor, the tile being all the same color made it difficult to see were the step was so I almost sprained my ankle. The shower had mold in the grout, and there were a few spots where it looked as if someone had picked there nose then smearing it on the shower wall. The shelf in which had hangers to hang your clothing from had fungus growing from the wood. This was most likely due to the fact that the air conditioner was dripping condensate on to its surface. In addition to this there were small bugs all over the place. This hotel is lacking in general maintenance not only in the rooms but the lobby as well.

The breakfast for me was cold and nothing more then a bit, for some this would be enough but it was not for me.

IF the management could pick it up a notch this could be a very nice place, the architecture is absolutely beautiful, but the other shortcomings tarnish what could be a great establishment.

The hotel is within the heart of the city and accessible to all transportation. With an affordable price and respectful and honest staffs, it is really a home away from home. Hope to see you all again on my next holiday.

I stay in this hotel whenever I'm in for a quick stop in Cagayan de Oro. Here are some reasons why:
a) Location: It is in the center of town, yet not too noisy nor too busy for you to be bothered.
b) Affordable: It's amenities and services are par for the money you pay.
c) Cleanliness: Very clean, although you would have to ask the staff to change your linens, if needed.
d) Great staff service and very courteous.

Room Tip: 1. Choose a deluxe room that is on the southside 2. The higher you go, the lesser the noise.

As a regular foreign guest at the Victoria Suites in Cagayan de Oro I can only give positive comments about the Hotel and recommend this place.
1. The Hotel is a well located place in Divisoria.
2. Best and affordable rates in town.
3. Rooms well equipped with Satellite TV, free Wifi, clean bathrooms, etc.
4. Best free breakfast among the budget hotels and it is enough to start your day day.
5. Medical assistance available 24 hours
6. Great and professional Staff ( all of them )
IT IS WORTH TO VISIT
I stayed for many times at the Victoria Suite Hotel. It was on my first visit when I felt that this place is special. The Victoria Suite is a comfortable, friendly and very affordable Hotel, which suited my needs perfectly. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff is professional and assists you whenever you need them. During the last Typhoon Pablo I was very well taken care of and it is worth to mention that the Owner of the Hotels is operating a nonprofit rescue organization named rescue 411. It is nonprofit rescue organization and serves the City of Cagayan de Oro and at most the poor who are in need of medical assistance. Rescue 411 is operated from the profit of the Vicoria Suites Hotel.
I do believe, after staying in so many properties here at Cagayan de Oro, that Victoria Suites is one of the best and worth to visit.
Thanks to the staff of Victoria Suites I will always remember CDO.
Heiko

1. Rooms are very small. My wife felt claustrophobic with the standard rooms (publicised as good for 2) so we had to transfer to a deluxe room (publicised as good for 3), but actually is comfortable for 2 only.

2. Very slow to accommodate special requests. Because we had scheduled tours, my wife and I had to leave the hotel earlier than their routine breakfast time which is from 7-10 am.

3. Profit before customer satisfaction. We asked them to serve our breakfast in the afterrnoon because we couldn't get it in the am as the tour starts 4 am (off to Camiguin). Unfortunately the last ferry from Camiguin which was supposed to leaveby 4 pm left at 6 pm because it waited for several more passengers. Logically, the cold was cold already when we arrived at the hotel. They said reheating has an EXTRA CHARGE. They would rather serve the food cold than RUN the extra mile to comfort their clients.

4. Never heard of endorsements before. Everytime we go out for a tour, or for dinner they would ask, "Sir check-out na po?". Isn't it written somewhere there that we are booked for 3 days?

5. False advertisement. They showed us a picture of the FREE BREAKFASTS included with the package. There was a picture there of HOTSILOG, 2 hotdogs, egg and and a good heaping of fried rice. But if you choose it, they will give you 1 hotdog, egg, and a small portion of rice. Adding insult to injury, the waiter will bring you again the menu and tell you that in the picture the hotdogs were mini hotdogs and not the regular ones. BUT CLEARLY I can decipher a regular hotdog from a mini hotdog. We asked them to change the picture. I don't know if they will do it.

6. NO towels. On our first day our towels arrived at 11 pm. We were not a walk-in customer, we were booked ahead, if they foresight then they could saved just 2 towels for us OR requested their laundry to rush 2 towels for us.

7. No manager to talk to. Finally after having tolerated them for several times now, the incident with the HOTDOG breakfast erked me to have a talk with their manager. And it really blow me off to know that there was no manager on duty that day. And we had to wait 1 hour for the OIC, who probably will have no power to change things anyway so thought it futile to talk to her.

I AGREE WITH THE ABOVE REVIEWS, IF YOU CAN FIND ANOTHER HOTEL THEN DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL

Room Tip: Don't book here if you want a pleasant stay in CDO

The only saving grace for this hotel is that it is near Divisoria.

The air con for the rooms are wall mounted which is fine. However, the back of the air con which dissipate the heat is facing the corridor. So the whole corridor is hot.

The room is basic but frankly speaking, I would prefer my P400 room at Jessica Lodge in Illigan.

The aircon is very noisy. It is rattling so much like the unit is going to broken down into pieces anytime soon.

If I will to come back to CDO again, I would rather try the hotel next door; Cagayan Park View Lodge.
