This is one of those few places around the world that can be characterized as perfect. From the airport welcome, through the arrival riverboat ride, the welcoming and unbelievably attentive staff, friendly and caring mahouts, delicious food, and welcoming and comfortable 'tents' (which are unbelievable and offer great views of the river). This is definitely a place to visit if you like your adventures with a side of luxury and a massage and expertly crafted cocktail at the end of the day. The food was perfect every meal and the evening set menus offered a plethora of enjoyable Thai dishes. Especially wonderful was Seng our elephant guide for two days (who could easily moonlight as a professional photographer), Somkid or guide for two days around the Golden Triangle and Myanmar, and Alvin who seemed to have a full grasp on everything going on around the camp and never missed a beat. Every activity was as enjoyable as the next and the two days we spent learning how to ride the elephants and the trekking through the jungle was truly life changing. One night we did the Elephant Camp Dinner just for our family and this was also amazing and something I highly highly recommend. With impeccable service, creative and delicious Thai food (which the chef prepares with input from you), and relaxing Thai music. From start to finish we felt fully immersed and taken care of in this most unique and wonderful corner of the world.

Excellent, Ali your team is a credit to your whole operation: Somokid, Ed, Deow, Tai, Seng, Frame, Mimi to name but a few. We took the first class train from Bangkok to Chiang Mai and then drove through to the camp 4 hours through Thai countryside. My family (4 of us including 2 teenagers) absolutely loved it. You cannot fault the service, the camp, the tours and most of all the lovely elephants. We stayed 3 nights. I was bought up in Kenya and the camp compares easily with some of the best there. Everyone knew us by name and knew what our favourite drinks were. Kids and us really liked the outdoor rain shower in the tents and we added the Sunrise walk with the elephants and their mahouts.Excellent camp

This is a once in a lifetime experience that I, and my girlfriend, hope we get to do again. Not a trip for those who do not like adventure, riding in small watercraft, being around elephants, or the jungle and all its creatures. If you like Indiana Jones scenes and atmosphere - and luxurious service - this is one of those places. The tents are FULLY outfitted - air conditioning works great, mini-bar, large tub for two, awesome outdoor shower - facing the large untouched panorama, (hot and cold water) - and the view from our tent is amazing - we stayed in the "Butterfly" tent, which I highly recommend - for the view - but I am sure all the tents are nice views (see Photo). Don't worry if you're not sure what to do while you are there - when you arrive a host will greet you and discuss the activities you may wish to do - they will have a proposed agenda based on your length of stay. It is recommended that you ride the elephants! There is a cooking class, a tour of the market/area where you visit a Buddhist temple and have the chance to buy some silk, a cooking class, a wine and cheese tasting is available at most times, even special dining experiences. All recommended depending on your tastes - but be sure you sign up to ride the elephants at some point.

There is a bar on one end of the camp, along with the gift shop and where you start the elephant tours, while the dining options and another cocktail area, as well as other activities are on the other side - its a very short walk to either side, but still you are in the jungle - so there are fun "trails" - they can also shuttle you by go-kart if you prefer not to do the trails stay at one end of the camp or the other - but if that's the case, it may not be the place for you because the trails are awesome. We had massages at the SPA, and they did not have to pipe in sounds of the soothing jungle sounds, - because you open your eyes and you are in the actual jungle...really. Food was impeccable - highly recommended is the pork-fried rice with a fried egg on top for breakfast. The staff was very friendly, some more than others - we will not forget - like a professional "family", the whole time and as soon as we arrived - by boat. They were there to help us with our every concern and even helped me retrieve items that I had accidentally left in our hotel in Bangkok.Highlights were: The Tent, The Staff, The Food, The Place/Jungle, Elephants. Incredible.

Almost forgot - baby elephants stop by and say hello sometimes (everyday while we were there) while you are eating breakfast. You can go feed them bananas by hand and "pet" them - they are very friendly. Enough said.

Room Tip: There are only like 20 tents, maybe fewer. We liked ours because it was in the middle. All the tents...

Its difficult to explain such a once in a lifetime experience. We spent a full and busy 3 days at the elephant camp and have made lifetime memories. While its expensive- yes- we felt that we got our full $$s worth.
The experience, accommodations and service all stand out. The staff are wonderfully attentive: Alvin took especially good care of us.
We were lucky enough to only have 3 other couples staying during our visit, so we often felt like we had the place all to ourselves. The service was impeccable: each person remembering all of your personal preferences and plans. We stayed in the opium tent, and then later moved to the culinary tent. Both were nearly identical, although the culinary tent was more centrally located. All of the walking that others have noted is true: it is a large and spread out property, but this makes it feel even more special and remote.
The food was excellent: we could rarely keep up. While we wanted to order multiple courses we often filled up after a few. One night we stayed in with room service, delivered in a bento box by a guy on a bicycle: the charm continued.
The wine room has air conditioning, which is a nice break if you get overheated (aside from your room, no where else is air-conditioned).
The elephants are the stars of the show, although we also enjoyed the golden triangle excursion and the sunrise trek. Feeding the elephants bananas every morning at breakfast also can’t be beat.
The spa was excellent: beautiful surroundings and excellent service. I had a body scrub and a massage. Both were an excellent mix of eastern and western techniques.
One tip: you will get dirty here. It’s hard to explain how dirty the elephants are, even feeding them will leave you coated in mud. Leave your white pants at home.

Room Tip: Consider how much walking you want to do... some rooms are quite a trek from dining and the bar.

We got married here in December and it could not have been more perfect. My then fiancée stayed here for two days on her own before the wedding whilst I stayed I a separate hotel. All the way through our planning the people here could not have been more helpful. A particular mention must go to Tak (Taksanai) who coordinated everything for us. However everyone was simply amazing.

In its own right this is such a special place and the drama if entering the camp on a longtail boat just adds to this feeling of being somewhere truly me memorable. The "tents" are without peer and with a bath on the veranda looking out into the jungle it was bliss.

Our day was truly wonderful and being taken to the top of the camp on an elephant was so serene - they really are gentle giants. And then seeing my fiancée arrive on her elephant really did bring both joy and tears - especially as our elephants greeted one another with their trunks. The ceremony with a local village elder and 9 monks was so beautiful.

It was just the two of us for the weeding, but it was like we were surrounded by friends and yet the service for our dinner was so unobtrusive as we gazed out over the hills of Laos, Burma and Thailand.

This is an all inclusive resort with only around 15 tents and whilst it was at 75%!occupancy we felt like we had the place to ourselves. The bar and restaurant are very romantic and the staff very friendly.

The opportunity to learn some of the basics of rising the wonderful elephants must not be missed and is very humbling.

Inclusive and personal tours in the area are part of the service and are well worthwhile. But so is just sitting in the silence and taking in the atmosphere. Being woken to the sights and sounds of the elephants having their morning dip will be a memory we will always cherish.

If you want to experience something truly memorable then you must stay here - it is worth every penny (and there are a lot of them!) We did hear someone say they were bored and that they did not really like elephants - but that says much more about the person and an unusual choice of holiday than the location. Definitely one for the bucket list.

We honestly could not fault anything during our stay and the only consolation when we had to leave was that we were headed to Four Seasons Koh Samui for 2 1/2 weeks.

Once in a lifetime experience! Camping as only Four Seasons can offer! Amazing service, amazing room product and fantastic food and beverage options. The sunrise elephant experience is a must-do, along with the golden triangle trip to Myanmar. Spending time with the elephants is a life changing experience. The access to these amazing creatures are worth every penny. Looking forward to my return trip!

Room Tip: I would ask for the "Explorer tent" amazing views of the Ruat river!

We recently spent 3 nights there and all of our expectation were met or exceeded ! The accommodations are authentic luxury and deliver a great sense of place. This is not " Luxury Africa "with glassed in bars and dining rooms. Drinks in the Burma Bar and food choices were excellent and delivered with a lot of grace and style. We really took advantage and enjoyed all the activities, riding the elephants , longboat rides on the Mekong seeing the Golden Triangle and added a half day excursion to Burma, no visa required.

Room Tip: Thai massage on your own terrace.
