We had a wonderful morning in the Hotel. The breakfast was good in every way but especially with the excellent and very friendly service of Rosa. The Hotel in general is well located and beautiful. I hope to return.

Room Tip: The tennis courts need straps and they need ball boys and tennis "pro" to service those, l...

Visited this hotel for long weekend escape. Check in time is quite late (4 pm) in my opinion, service at registration desk was quite poor (untrained personnel). WiFi paid in rooms! On the good side, Spa service was good while the facilities are not optimal. Please note this hotel is a Family-oriented one, not good choice for a relaxing weekend with your couple. Marriot: you can do better!

Great hotel: comfortable beds (on the softer side of the scale), nice rooms, nice grounds, clean pools. I really think this is a good hotel. I found the staff very helpful and friendly.

I do think the food, though good enough isn't anything special. Luckily there are one or two nice restaurants in the vicinity.

From what I've heard this is one of the best hotels in this town, and I think that is a reasonable conclusion.

While celebrating the holidays in Mexico City we decided to spend an intimate Christmas with the immediate family outside the city in Ixtapan de la Sal. The town has a rich history having abundant natural salt springs that have drawn people with aches and pains from all around the country and beyond. Not knowing the area, I decided to book three rooms at the Marriott and we couldn't have made a better choice!

We drove in three cars from Mexico City and the trip took us around 90 minutes on the very nice (albeit somewhat expensive) toll road. There are numerous "casetas" or toll booths and I'd estimate it cost us $15-$20 USD ($190 pesos) each way. The drive was smooth and safe being patrolled by federal police. There were numerous signs and it was a fairly straight shot to Ixtapan de la Sal. We could see the Marriott sign as we exited the toll road and were checking in minutes after navigating the traffic circle and pulling into the hotel.

I'm an Marriott Gold (among others) member, but expect the warm, professional reception would be offered to any guest checking in. I was very pleased that my request for three adjoining rooms was accommodated and that two were connected. We had a good view of the pool and the surrounding grounds and fauna were lovely being very well maintained.

Although the property is starting to show it's age, as with the grounds the buildings and decor were very well preserved and maintained. It is clear that a lot of care has been taken to preserve the historic nature of the facilities while providing modern amenities such as free WiFi in the lobby and paid service in the rooms. The Spa is a big draw here, but we didn't partake this trip...perhaps on another visit. The gym is particularly nice with plenty of newer equipment (ellipticals and treadmills) as well as weights and yoga matts & balls. There is also a lap pool in addition to the several others on the property...all heated.

This hotel is branded as a convention/events property, but it also clearly caters to families with children. There are plenty of kids slides, a pirate ship, go-carts and a mini village in addition to a terrific game room with pool, foosball, Wii consoles, table tennis, etc which you can pay for by the half hour. For outdoor activities there are several grass tennis courts and a mini soccer field in addition to adult and children's swimming pools.

The town itself is very charming with plenty of very inexpensive restaurants serving excellent local dishes...and of course pizza. There is a wonderful outdoor market and lots of small shops to browse as you enjoy the sights. The cathedral was decorated for Christmas and there was a huge nativity scene with a mini replica of the town surrounding it! For the adventurous and/or those with young teens (you know what I'm talking about) there is an aquatic park nearby.

A special note of thanks to the amazing staff there (did I mention the fantastic service?), particularly the banquet manager Sr. Casas who insured that special off-menu items were available for our son who wasn't feeling well...muchisimas gracias!

Clearly I am a fan of this hotel...first for some of the best service I have experienced as a hotel guest, and second for the lovely property. Thank you for a lovely stay!

This is an extraordinary hotel to visit with a family. The pools and gardens are really nice. My kids loved the pirate ship pool. There are plenty of activities for the whole family. It is a very short and pleasant drive from Mexico City. The service was impecable. The staff really goes the extra mile to accommodate any request. We will come back soon.

Hotel is set on very beautiful grounds. There are two outdoor pools, one heated indoor pool and one adult pool in the spa. There are also quite a few things for young children to do as they have a Swiss Family Robinson? type playground. The rooms were comfortable although the beds are only doubles. When I checked in, they didn't acknowledge my gold status and offer anything. I asked for a room upgrade which they granted. Staff was nice and accommodating. We didn't eat at the hotel, but went into town and ate Tacos and Tortas at Chimbombos which was good and cheap.

We had a nice time in IXtappan and would go back to this hotel. We had a garden view room with a balcony. All staff members were friendly and went out of there way to make sure we had a nice time. We had great value for the price. The Marriott website accurately describes the hotel. The two outside swimming pools were clean and attractive. The indoor pool also looked fine. We liked the food in the restaurant. All of the people that worked in the restaurant were top notch. I would like to make special mention of Adan, Rosy, and Victor. I enjoyed seeing all of the art work in the hotel. This hotel is clean. The grounds are very pretty. We took a side trip to Taxco and enjoyed our day outing in this city. We felt safe in IXtappan. The only negative comment I have is that internet access is a little expensive at around 15 dollars a day. At our request the hotel did provide us with a safe for our valuables.
