“Great time in costa Maya”
Reviewed 26 August 2012

My husband and I have visited several of the beach clubs on the "strip" and this one was one of our favorites. Sergio greeted us right away, got us a beer (sol), showed us around, and offered us our choice of seats. At the time the umbrella seats were already taken, but, without us even asking, as soon as one opened up, he moved us. With the all inclusive price, we received an excellent value. We did tip Sergio $15 for his kind, efficient services. We used the kayaks, paddle boats and Sergio continually kept our beers full. There are lockers available. We also noticed employees digging up rocks and cleaning seaweed from the recent storms. Keep in mind, this is not the ritz, nor are any of the other beach clubs in the area. You would be hard pressed to find this value to find a value anywhere else in costa Maya. I would return for sure.

“Worst beach and drinks ever!!!!”
Reviewed 8 January 2012

We are very experienced cruisers/travelers. We were approached by a rep claiming there were cabanas and white sand beach, all you can drink and "paradise". We paid $90.00 for two adults and 4 children. Adults get all you can drink, children get pop. We paid for our own cab and arrived to a dilapitated building. We got wristbands and were led to a plastic round table/chairs on a small cove of a beach which seemed to be crowded with a mishmash of plastic loungers and scattered chairs. We were told there were no loungers avail. as people were in them. My husband and I looked at each other in disbelief thinking what fools we've been handing over our money sight unseen. A new person came over and offered to set up loungers by the pier where there was space, 5 more dollars for tip. The drinks were so watered down and un palatable that after two different kinds I gave up. Children had 1 watered down soda and we left after an hour and a half. We told the person at the exit how disappointed we were and misrepresented their club is. I could overlook the construction at the front of the building, shabby beach and harassing merchants but don't charge me for classy beach club accommodations when you're running a dive.

“pathetic, rip off”
Reviewed 13 December 2011

We felt the high pressure to buy the beverage package which then we felt locked into staying at their beach. The snorkeling we were told we would have 55 min. in water and we were pulled out after 25 minutes with no real explanation although there was some big waves. But I'm new to snorkeling and was managing fine; yet another group was taken out while we waited and they got the full time. Reef was beautiful but cheated out of our full time. The beach was mobbed with vendors and we were continually telling them no. Use of kayaks might have been ok but seemed they were restricted to the immediate area either what they were told or due to waves.

“I agree with all the negatives ...”
Reviewed 23 November 2011

Pathetic place: no free food, drinks were watered down (except for the beer), cut off at 3pm though not advised of this, constantly hassled on the beach by peddlers, the beach water area itself is far from being a nice place, the chairs at the table were simple straight-back plastic things (very few lounge chairs available)

Only positives: the beer was good (but we did not get more than $3 worth), the restrooms were sort-of clean, the sand beach though very small was not bad, the coral reef was somewhat interesting for snorkelling (though be VERY careful of the sea urchin out there).

All in all: a waste of good money, about $30 per by the time you count in taxi (for the two blocks from the ship)!

Thank you for your criticism!

No one in Costa Maya gives food for free, some beach clubs, sell packages with meals included, this is not our case. our beach packages include open bar and facilities. In fact our open bar ends at 3 pm. because cruise ships leave the harbor between 3 and 5 pm and for your safety and our experience, we know that it is prudent to close at that time. even so the open bar is usually more than 8 hours.

Regards Tequila Beach!

“What a Disappointment”
Reviewed 22 August 2011

Advance reservation request was sent and reply received from Tequila Beach Club stating they could accomodate party of 13. On arrival they had one snorkel boat with a maximum capacity of 10. A second boat is brought in...."day cruiser" .....with seating for 2 on which they crowded 9 people. On arrival at the snorkel site the captain's mate did not have an anchor available. After digging an ancohor out of storage he returned to the bow only to discover he did not have a rope attached to the anchor. Finally anchored about 80 yards from the snorkel site in rough water, with wind and current to overcome to get to snorkel site. Snorkel vest were not available. The Beach Club itself was mediocre. Not recommended.
