I've been visiting Villa Taina in January 2010 and gotta say that I was overwhelmed by its location next to the beach, its friendly staff, the kitesurfing and windsurfing school and the delicious restaurant it provided.
Sitting at the bar in the evenings has been a great pleasure. Drinking your smooth cocktail while listening to the sounds of the ocean is a feeling, which could hardly be better at all.
Furthermore, I highly appreciated the fact that guided tours were provided and that they were flawlessly conducted by a charming tour guide.
I can honestly recommend this hotel to every traveller that seeks for a warm and friendly atmosphere accompanied by friendly staff and the possibility of doing various sports in his/her leisure time.

The hotel was very nice, except by the fact that two nights in a row, we found cockroaches in the room! and Big! We put a glass over it and by the time we made the check out, they told us they would do a discount which was never made. that was the bad part of staying there. The good part is that it`s located in a great place near the bars, pubs, and restaurants, that are very nice, with a nice "Happy Hour" discount in drinks and food. the breakfast was very good, and it has a nice bar too. Also it`s rates are very good. I don´t recommend staying at the All Inclusive, because the are very far away from the spots of pubs, kitesurf, windsurf and shopping (although there isn`t too much shopping to do!) Something good are the sweets that locals sell in the beach, and if you want a coco, it`s better to buy it in the street.

I stayed in Hotel Villa Taina for the first time. I was there on on business trip and I appreciated the great Internet Service which they offer for free.
The Hotel is very close to a lot of Bars and Restaurants along the Beach but yet is a very quiet place at night.
The staff was very helpful and the food in the Restaurant at the Beach was just enjoyable.

I will be back.

1) The hotel is under construction, to add new rooms on the ocean front buidling (there are two buildings, street/reception and ocean front).

2) The halls and some rooms smells like a urine.

3) You can't have guest visit you after 6pm.

4) The receptionist people who take your money are nice and call you family, but not so much the other staff members.

5) The "free wireless" is weak and doesn't work in the rooms. You must go to the outside lobby.

6) There is no parking at the property.

Don't waste your money and ruins your vacation by staying at this property.

We stayed at Villa Tania for a conference. We had the junior penthouse suite, the room was great with a huge patio. The staff was excellent and very helpful, this is a small resort so there is a lot of staff around. there is 24 hour security, a nice lobby with free use of a computer, all the rooms have internet connection, the internet worked well. Miguel at the beach bar was great, the free breakfast buffet was great, the pool is small but nice. The kite school Progress run by Yohan and Eric is one of the best schools for kiteboarding instruction. Lots of great restaurants on the beach, walking distance, great happy hours everywhere. The standard rooms are a bit smaller and the rooms do smell, There must be a problem with their air conditioning. Make sure when you book your room you get an oceanview room. I think part of the hotel is recently rennovated with better a/c systems and showers such as the junior penthouse suite. overall we had a really great time!

The hotel smells like a latrine!! Don't waste your money and ruins your vacation by staying at this property. The rooms smells horrible, it is like sleeping in wet environment. My boyfriend woke up with bug bites.

I stayed in the junior penthouse suite. The room was clean, bright and airy. The view of the ocean was mostly obscured by palm trees but it was a beautiful view nevertheless (glimpses of blue through palm fronds). The location is wonderful - there's bar and restaurant on the beach, along with a windsurf/kite school and rental outfit. Beach bars are just a few steps away (as in two doors down). All of the people were really wonderful to deal with. I would definitely stay there again.

Only problem I had was with checkout - you actually need to sign for your charges when checking out and you can't do this before 7:00 am so if you have an early morning flight, make arrangements for checking out ahead of time - in my case the owner/manager graciously rushed over at 6:30 am to take care of me.
