Small and coquette, Barefoot sits just minutes away from downtown Cabarete.
What a great time I had!! I stayed at Barefoot for a few days during late April early May and
the weather was amazing. Their friendly staff is very sweet and accommodating they made me
feel right at home. My room was comfortable with a balcony facing the ocean and what an
amazing view that was!! The room was pretty spacious and fully equipped with a fridge, stove
top and sink.

We spent 7 days at the barefoot beach including hosting our wedding there. At first glance the hotel has a certain "charm" you just don't find at most hotels. As you enter thru the large sliding doors you begin to see the true beauty of the hotel and its simplicity. The hotel has a homely feeling and the infinity pool overlooking the pool ties it all together. The room was spacious with a small kitchen and nice pub table for dining. The views from our ocean view suite were majestic. The breeze is always alive in Cabarete so it was nice to keep the windows open to feel and smell the ocean breeze. Hector, the hotel manager an X- New Yorker (bilingual) with a good sense of humor is always ready to help in anyway as is the rest of the staff. Andres who works the bar and grille area made us some remarkable dishes, including his spin on "american chicken wings" which were incredible! We were extremely satisfied with the food and drinks since we were traveling with 2 babies and did not want to leave the hotel often. Everyone was very knowledgeable regarding activities, restaurants, bars etc. The wedding was picture perfect in every sense of the way. The owner of barefoot helped my wife plan the wedding of her dreams in only a few days. It was nice to have things all come together with no stress. We rented white tents and tables and got married just next to the infinity pool over looking the ocean. As my wife says "there wasn't much decorating we had to the landscape did most of it for us". After the wedding was over we took our first walk on the beach as a married couple and enjoyed our first sunset together. Bare foot beach pad will always hold a memorable place in hearts and we cannot wait to book our next vacation there!

We spent 4 nights at Barefoot, after carefully researching our options in and around Cabarete. We opted for Barefoot because of the great reviews on TripAdvisor, and because we didn't want to be right downtown, yet still wanted beach access.

Pros:
Location - for us was a plus, although it is about 2km outside Cabarete proper. However, it has beach access, and at low tide you can walk west all the way to town and beyond, to Kite Beach. You can also walk east, in the opposite direction, for literally miles on beach. It's so great to have that beach access for a sunrise or sunset walk. Just be careful for stray dogs if you do walk east, and be ready to step into the sea if they approach you. Also, the beach directly outside the property is rough, so take care when swimming.

Pool - nice infinity pool, although to be fair we didn't use it as the beach was too appealing

Rooms - we wanted to book a room with kitchen, but they were fully booked, so we spent the first night in a double. Luckily, the next night we were able to move to a studio, which allowed us to cook in the room, with the need to travel downtown for dinner. It's great to have that option, and the rooms are quite comfortable, and all have some kind of pool or beach view.

Wifi - generally fast

Scooter rental - good to have this option onsite, since it is convenient to drive to donwtown, or beyond to the beach (either Kite Beach (10 mins) or Playa Encuentro (surfing beach - 15 minutes)). If you're brave, you could even use the scooter to get to Sosua. Just make sure you have proof of agreed rates for scooter rental, since they are rented not by the hotel but by the superintendent/cook Andres, who lives onsite. He doesn't speak English and even though I told him we had agreed $10 per day by email with the owner, he charged us $15.

Andres - he's a helpful guy, and lent us some cooking utensils from the kitchen, and help us arrange taxis to various places that were beyond scooter-reach

Pre-trip communication - Hector was very responsive by email and his instructions were clear and helpful

Cons:
Room cleanliness is pretty good, but could be slightly improved - you'll always get insects in the Caribbean, but we did find a sizeable cockroach in our wardrobe on the last night. I'm sure that Andres would have dealt with this small issue had we found it earlier. Also be aware that there are millipedes in the vicinity, and after rain they will be especially prevalent.

Food - not many eating options within easy walking distance, although you can either rent a scooter, take a taxi, or a gua gua. There is a small bar/restaurant onsite, but even with a full hotel, there would be a lack of atmosphere in the evening since most guests either cook in their rooms or eat outside. Cooked breakfast was good, although you do pay extra for it (continental is included).

Language - not a problem for us as my girlfriend speaks native Spanish, but staff don't speak English, although if the owner Hector is not there, he can always be reached by phone.

Notes:
Taxi to/from from Sosua is about $15 or 600 pesos.
Taxi to Monkey Jungle/Zip Lines on El Choco is about $50 (12km each way and 8km on dirt road)
Supermarket downtown can be reached in 5+ minutes by scooter

Overall, we would definitely recommend Barefoot, and very much enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: Try to get a first floor room for better ocean views - studio rooms are convenient for cooking

I spent a wonderful week at the Barefoot Beach Pad in mid-December. It was my first time in Cabarete and was a great place to relax and forget about work. I stayed in the ocean front upstairs suite with two balconies, one overlooking the ocean and one above the pool, and couldn't have asked for more. The breeze blew through the room keeping things nice and cool day and night.

The village of Cabarete is a short walk down the beach, and I rented a scooter from the hotel to go on further trips. Anything I wanted, Hector was always ready to help out, and I'd highly recommend Barefoot for anyone looking to find a relaxing oasis in the Dominican Republic.

Room Tip: All the rooms next to the pool are super.

I've been visiting Barefoot for the past 2 years now and I couldn't imagine a better place to spend my vacation days. I've also come to think of it as a home away from home and an awesome getaway from the stresses of life and work back in the states. It's tranquil, peaceful, friendly & attentive staff always make me feel welcome; from the joy of the moment I arrive to the slight dread the day I leave. Anytime I am in the north coast, I will always stay here. Keep up the great work, Hector!! And hope to see you next year!

It is on the Edge of town Way out . The pictures on the internet all show you from the pool to the Ocean. They do not show you the long Dirt road , Barbwire and brick wall going to the place.
there really is not resteraunt there, the Grounds keeper doubles as the Cook, and he is a VERY BAD COOK. his wife is the housekeeping staff and she is pretty Bad to,, emptied the trash , that's about it, never swept or dusted. we saw the same spider webs all week. There is a Much better place next door,, Great Ocean side dinning,, Martini's I think it's called

Room Tip: if you want to be AWAY from EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE you might stay here , But not for the Prices th...

Barefoot Beach Pad is proud that 98% of our reviewers have enjoyed their stay with us and found it to be well above what is advertised. In fact, nearly half of our guests are now regulars or come to stay because of recommendations from previous guests. We understand it might be difficult to satisfy 100% of our guests, but we pride ourselves in offering the best service. Time and time again our guests praise us online and in person. Barefoot is 30 yards from the main road in Cabarete and exactly 1.3 kilometers from the center of town. There is no barbwire anywhere on the Barefoot grounds and we can't help but question why you added your review a year after your stay. We are sorry, however, that you did not enjoy the food. Our fresh grilled fish, Malaysian calamari, shrimp pasta, cheeseburgers and chicken sandwiches are among the favorites of all our guests.
All the best,
Barefoot staff
