We have returned the past 3 years for a one-week stay in February...it is a perfect oasis, located an ideal distance to town(10 minute walk) and right on a great beach. The townhomes are very large with two bedrooms and two floors; private balconies and rooftops all with ocean views. Each unit has spacious living rooms and large open kitchens. The town is different and more pleasant than any others ive stayed at in the D.R. with Great restaurants, shops and bars.
You cant beat the price and friendliness of the staff and locals. We are booked again for this coming february.

Room Tip: It doesnt really matter if your room isnt oceanfront or one of the first few units. All units are l...

When my husband booked a 2 bedroom apartment at the Nanny Estates (C3, then A2), I was a little nervous at first because the price seemed too good to be true. The apartment was very clean and simple but perfectly located in Cabarete. We were then moved to the second apartment which was super nice. The complex was close to the center of town but not in the heart of it. Located directly on a kitesurfing beach (perfect for my kitesurfing hubby!), the winds would flow through the apartment. Each apartment is air conditioned in the bedrooms only, but you really don´t need it otherwise. We had a full kitchen to cook in and great restaurants to eat at nearby. There is even a great place to eat breakfast or lunch at, the Cabarete Coffee Company, right in front of the complex. Loved it! The complex has a small but great pool. What I liked most about the place was the community. Most tenants were European and extremely friendly who are staying for 3-4 weeks, and the owners were also very friendly and welcoming. We would all hang out after a day in the sun and have cocktails at sunset. We made new friends, visited old ones and enjoyed our stay very much. I would definitely recommend the Nanny Estates to anyone who wants to have a great place to stay while not breaking the bank. They even have a woman who can come to your apartment and cook a typical Dominican meal for you for $12/person (includes food, her cooking it, serving it and cleaning up afterward) as often as you want. Maribel was great! The only thing that drove me a little crazy was the thumping music that went on at the all-inclusive down the way. As long as we cranked up the a/c, we would avoid hearing it. The best thing for that is to rent an apartment farther away from the beach if this would be an issue for you. The staff at Nanny Estates was also great. They can do your laundry for a reasonable cost, can get you a grill if you want to bbq, and can bring you water bottles. No pets are allowed. Free parking. Most apartments are 2 bedrooms, but they do have one 3 bedroom available for a bigger family. We will definitely return! What a fabulous home away from home! Thanks for an unforgettable summer vacation!

Room Tip: I highly recommend apartment A2. Close to the beach and away from unwanted noise. Beautiful view f...

We were looking for something different (and inexpensive) for our 25th anniversary Dec 26, 2007 and found it here. For a very low price in the caribbean for this time of year, we had a fab 2-bedroom townhouse with amazing views of the ocean from every room and a rooftop deck as well. We stayed in A2 - loved the circular staircase.

I completley agree with the complimentary comments about Maria and Lourdes - they were very helpful in arranging tours and taxis. Maria even arranged for Ramon to take us on a day tour to Santiago among other places he showed us along the way. We very much enjoyed that day more than even the Monster truck safari. It gave us some real insight to how the locals live and work.

The location was also excellent and we could walk down the beach toward Cabarete to some of the restaurants during the day - at nite we took taxis into town (no more than $7, sometimes $5 or even $3) to sample the great food - lots of choices. However, none take credit cards - cash is king here!

Pool and no fitness center unless you count our wonderful walks on the windy beach. Walking away from Cabarete to the Point one day we found locals selling shells they were swimming out to get from the ocean - great way to shop! Tip- the sand is very fine- your beach shoes fill with sand immediately and just make it more difficult to walk. Bring a bag for your shoes and walk barefoot. Also, walk along the edge of the water to avoid the vendors if you're going into Cabarete. Here it's no way as thick as the many vendors in Sousa - just a few hair braiders, cigar salesmen and flower/fruit girls.

The only negative was the late night noise from the resort next door. Apparently, they had a club outside on the beach. It really had to be loud on the C side.
We actually missed the sound of the wind when we returned home!

Room Tip: When we go back, I would definitely book A1. For the same price of A2 (just under 1K in Dec); you g...

This is hand down my favorite place to stay in Cabarete. Forget the large and impersonal condos and book here. Nanny Estates is tucked away from the main road just before the busy part of the town. Once you enter, you are struck with how calm the location is. You can hear the ocean from the parking lot - it's that close to the beach!

Since each condo is privately owned, each has its own decor - so be sure to take that into account when you rent. There is no "bad" condo here. Each has a great view of the water, thanks to the roof top decks each house has. The courtyard and pool are kept in immaculate order, the condo itself is kept very clean with daily cleaning. The layout of the condo is good, with bedrooms on the second floor with each room having its own air conditioning - a must! One drawback was there was no bathtub, only a shower, but a very minor inconvenience. Each condo also has a little front courtard overlooking the main courtyard with patio furniture.

Each condo has a well equipped kitchen with a BBQ, so cooking meals is easy. However, the Cabarete Coffee Company is steps away from the complex and I guarantee you will not have a better cup of coffee in your life. There is a very well equipped grocery store (Janet's) on the other end of the beach strip - an easy walk but you can easily grab a cab back. If going out it what you want do to for meals, the main beach strip with restauraunts and pubs is a short 15 minute walk down the beach. Some retaurants also deliver to you here.

The beach in front of the complex is amazing, though watch out for the kiteboarders if the afternoon wind is ideal for kiteboarding. There has been a lot of erosion on the other end of the beach, but the sand in front of Nanny Estates is wide and perfect.

The staff at this place are simply amazing - they are warm, friendly and very helpful- very typical of these locals. Anything you want, they will bend backwards to make happen.

I travelled here with my two kids (a toddler and an infant) and this place was ideal for a family: the courtyard offered green spaces for the kids to run around in safely and had lots of shade. The pool also had some good shade. Cribs are available, all you need to do is ask. The condo was roomy and had lots of space for my toddler to run around in, however the steps to the upper floors could be a bit hazardous for younger kids. There was also no danger of kids wandering out of sight - everything is so wide and open, and there is only one guarded access to the beach from Nanny Estates.

This is a great bang-for-buck vacation rental. I felt safe at all times, all of the spaces were very clean and well maintained, and the staff was amazing. I can't wait to go back!

Our group, 5 adults+1 child rented a big villa in the middle of this development for 1 week ending on July 4. It was huge - a former restaurant. A swimming pool right in front, 50 steps to the beach. Daily cleaning included in the price. Excellent value.
Super-clean throughout, good AC in bedrooms, plenty of room for your kiteboarding/windsurfing/beach gear. I'm not sure if the beach if enticing enough if you're not into wind sports (probably the other side of the island would be better then) but if you want to try kiting or windsurfing, this is an excellent, and relatively inexpensive place to learn.
We also had local stuff come and cook for us, and we loved the dinner.
The only complaints was a barely functional grill, and the kitchen that got extremely hot when we cooked - but these were tiny details compared to the whole fantastic experience. We will be back!

We spent a week end in the Cabarate area. First time after having visited all main beach locations in the DR over the past 18 months. We traveled as a family along with another family. Cabarete has a different feel than other beach locations in the DR and although there are nicer beaches in other parts of the country we did enjoy the area. Lots of eating options on the beach. Seems a number of new condo and other developments underway. Lots of tourists but not crowded. We stayed at Nanny Estates upon the recommendation of a friend. We were pleasantly surprised. For under $100 a night we got a decent size condo with all the amenities, including roof top terrasse. The place is right on the beach, has a nice size pool and nice grounds. Not luxurious but nice and tastefully decorated. Nothing to complain about. Best to come prepared to prepare meals or go into town, a mere 5 minutes away by car. Overall we found the place to be the better value for money hotel / condo place in the DR to date. A must see is the monkey jungle which is outside of town on the way to Sosua. Would we go back to the Nanny Estates. Yes for sure.

We were met at the airport by the cab with a sign from Cabarete Beach Houses with our name on it. This made getting there so easy. This was our 1st trip to the Dominican Republic, on the drive to the condo, the cab driver stopped at the grocery store so we could get the things we would need. The location is AMAZING, my wife and i walked into town via the beach (5 minutes) for lunch and dinner almost every day. The staff was amazing, friendly and very helpful. Maria the manager, made sure we had everything we wanted or needed to make our trip special. The have an open area to set up you kite / windsurf gear. If you are a kiter and need to land you kite, the staff will give you a hand. We always felt as if the staff enjoyed having us there as much as we loved being there. Cabarete Beach Houses has become our vacation spot, we will be there at least once a year. It was very hard to leave, my wife and i had to fight back tears on our last night. If you want to have the experience of a lifetime, then you must visit this place. We are counting down the days until we can return. This is a great place for couples or families.

Room Tip: We stayed in C1. The view is breath taking and the sound of the ocean is so relaxing.
