Millennium Resort & Spa

I highly recommend Millennium Hotel to anyone coming to Cabarete. The location is perfect, less than a 5 minute walk along the beach to all of the restaurants and bars, LEK kiteboarding school (which we also used and LOVED) is right out front and directly on the beach (and despite what another kiteboarding school/hotel incorrectly told me prior to our trip, you CAN kite anywhere in Cabarete Bay. Not just at Kite Beach!) So, we were able to launch right in front of the hotel. The rooms all have beautiful ocean views, huge balconies, beautiful furniture, full kitchens, and I thought extremely comfortable beds (if you like them more on the soft and fluffy side). If you leave food out and unwrapped in the kitchen, you may find some ants after a while, but we happen to be more on the tidy side and did not find that there was either an ant or mosquito problem like one of the other individuals who recently left a comment. Whenever we saw a few ants, we would just wrap up our food and put it either in the fridge or the cabinents - and the problem was solved. The hotel does not have some of the amenities of higher-end hotels in, for example, Europe or the States, but that's not why people usually vacation in Cabarete. Thus, the hotel does not have room service, a car service, or a 24-hour concierge, etc. But this did not bother us at all. Cabarete is a laid-back and friendly beach town and we came to kiteboard, surf, meet other like-minded people, and take it easy - all of which we did. We can't wait to come back, and will definitely stay here again if we can. The website is an accurate representation of the hotel so I suggest anyone who is interested check it out.

The only drawback or minor inconvienance I can speak of is that the hotel is currently adding another wing. I think it is scheduled to be completed at the end of the year, so I'd just call and check with the management. Even so, we typically left our room at 7 or 8 am to go surfing, canyoning, horseback riding (there are a lot of fun things to do in Cabarete!) before the construction started for the day, and we were often not back in our rooms until after it had finished so we hardly noticed any noise and I'd still highly recommend Millennium even with the construction. However, if someone plans to spend a lot of time in their room or to sleep late every day, this might pose a bit of a problem depending on how light of a sleeper they are.

Room Tip: Although all of the rooms have beautiful views, the 2 and 3 bedroom apartments have the best views

I stayed here for 5 days and i think the hotel is beautiful and so are the rooms .I don't like there beds they are way to uncomfortable for me.I don't like there bathrooms even with the ac on full blast it still feels like a sauna. The hotel is probably a 5 minute walk to the action.I don't think ill return because cabarete left a bad taste in my mouth.I feel like with the money you spend there you can go elsewhere in the Dominican republic for a better deal.I killed about 10 mosquitoes the first 5 minutes i got to the condo. The view is out of this world but after a couple of days that didn't matter with all the bed issues.I hope this hotel gets things in order because it has alot of potential to be the best in cabarete

Room Tip: the best room is the 3 bedroom beachfront

Just back from a great trip to the DR. Stayed at the newly opened Millennium hotel. The property is located in the middle of Cabarete beach, making it an easy walk down the beach to all the restaruants and bars, and an easy stroll to local grocery stores, drugstores, ATM etc. The place has been built to a very high standard -- think Four Seasons or Mandarin Oriental. Truly world class, first class. The kitchen has very high end, state of the art appliances. The double headed oversized shower had a direct view to the pool and the beach! We were in one of the "penthouse" units, which directly front the pool and the beach. There are two and three bedroom units. The majority of the units are one bedroom suites.
The pool with its all round infinity edge is directly adjacent to the beach, and is beautfully done. There is plenty of seating around the pool, and service is offered from the adjacent Aqua restauarnt, which is operated by the hotel.
I was kiteboarding, and my 12 year old son and his buddy had kiteboarding lessons. We signed up with Laurel Eastman Kiteboarding (LEK) who were adjacent to the hotel. The experience with LEK could not have been better.
All in all, a great experience. There is a new wing being built at Millennium, which will apparently house a spa, which will be a great addition. The current construction was not an issue, since it was only during the day, and lying by the pool it was not in any way intrusive. For anyone looking for a great experience in Cabarete, there doesn't seem to be anywhere to compare to Millennium. We will definitely be back. Thanks to Yubi for all her help organizing baby sitting and making sure everything was OK.

I am writing this review prematurely as our vacation will be from April 29 - May 13, 2011, so I will be writing a follow-up review once we return. I wanted to write something in the interim due to the fact that we tried to locate reviews to make our decision and loved Millennium due to the photos but couldn’t find anything! We contacted Millennium directly as well as Laurel Eastman (Kitesufing School) to try and find out more information and all I can say is wow! I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel manager was incredibly honest and quick to respond and Laurel Eastman even contacted me directly to discuss! So in short the hotel is beautiful, brand new and modern, the pictures appear to be exactly as it is (this is a brand new building). The only possible downside is that since this is a new build there will be some construction in the one section of the grounds. For us this is not a great concern as we are going there for the activities and not to just sit at the pool, but I will let you know if this does become a distraction. Otherwise, simply to have such a wonderful accommodating welcome before we even leave makes me incredibly excited for this adventure. We have travelled many places through the years, 2-5 stars, all-inclusive to condos to tents! The service side is such an important part and easily forgotten. Stay tuned....
