Description: Tucked away in Plaza Ocean Dream, Yamazato enjoys a reputation for serving the finest Asian cuisine on the north coast. Those in the know, say it is "the spot" for Sushi in the D.R.!! Our handy location with a beautiful outdoor patio and fountain as well as the ample parking, makes it one of the better off beach locations in Cabarete. Enjoy the exceptional talent of chef LAOSAENG CHAIYAWAT (Yong) who has more than 15 years experience in Bangkok, Thailand and Haifa, Israel. Immerse yourself in the authentic cuisine of Asia. From classic Japanese sushi dishes to delicious Thai stir fries, everything is sublime and one visit is simply not enough. This fall our LUNCH SPECIALS changes with new offerings of classic Japanese dishes including Yaki Soba and Kai Su Don. It is the philosophy of Yamazato, to blend various Asian cuisines and constantly surprise! Another element that distinguishes Yamazato is the use of only the freshest of ingredients, many picked the same day from our organic garden. Our staff is an extraordinarily friendly bunch, as welcoming and helpful to first time visitors as they are to regulars. Eating out is one of life's greatest joys. At Yamazato it's about the whole experience, the setting, the service and most importantly, what's served up before you. Yamazato never ceases to surprise and amaze. With so many interesting dishes on the menu, it's hard to narrow down your choices but help is on hand. The super friendly waiters and Sushi Bar chef's are more than willing to share their suggestions. Yamazato is not only about the mouth watering food, the delightful courtyard with its lovely fountain is a beautiful setting for dining al fresco during the cooler months and when the heat proves too much you can take refuge in the air conditioned and authentic Japanese ambiance inside. For a great lunch, try our delectable "bento boxes", in each compartment you'll find a different treat. It's an exceptional value for your money. If you don't want to get into your car and drive to Cabarete, Yamazato will bring its culinary delights right to your home with free delivery in the Cabarete area. What better way to spend a beautiful Caribbean evening, dining on your terrace and enjoying Yamazato's wonderful Asian cuisine.

They serve decent sushi, sashimi and rolls but be prepared to face a really bad service. Waiters are not friendly, take hours to serve you and seem not happy to be working there.

Another great option in Cabarete, healthy, clean and consistently good food. The PadThai is also good -

My tablemates said the sushi is wonderful, I thoroughly enjoyed my Teryaki chicken. I tasted the lemon chicken and some pork fried rice as well; all very good. Portions were good sized and the ingredients were fresh and well prepared. That was my second visit - will definately go again!

I have been to Yamazato dozen of times and always enjoyed it. This last time though, it was a very poor experience. We have waited a long time to be served each time (ok almost all tables were occupied). I usually order the Beef tataki as appetizer, and this time, there were just a few slices of meat hidden in an ocean of sauce. After another hour of waiting, I received my Chicken Teryiaki served with potatoe salad, rice and French fries altogether without any salad. I know this is pretty common in the Dominican Republic to do that, but not in a Japanese restaurant. Anyway, I hadn't been there in a long time, and I am not planning to go back any time soon since it's kind of pricey, which I wouldn't mind if it had been good. They must have a temporary chef who doesn't know what he is doing...
