“Little slice of paradise”
Reviewed 24 January 2014 via mobile

Stayed here for the last part of our honeymoon for 9 nights following a few busy days in Bangkok and then Chiang Mai. Chose the area based on being able to do trip to phi phi and other islands as well as staying somewhere not too built up or 'westernised'. The boutique Hotel was exactly as described, in a small village right on the Klong Muang beach, very private and secluded. There are 40 individual villa's on the resort which was really nice compared to being on a bigger site like other hotels as you get a more personalised service from the staff and its not crowded around the pool area. The pool area looks out onto the beach which was the most beautiful view! When the tides are right you can use the hotels kayaks for free which is a plus!
Breakfast was really decent, they provide pretty much everything you could think of including an egg chef who cooks you what you ask for to order.
We like to try different places to eat so only ate the one night in the hotel overlooking the beach on their seafood BBQ night which was nice for a change just obviously a bit more pricey. There are a handful of restaurants just outside hotel and we also discovered about 5-10 mins walk out of the village heading towards where The Sheraton is located a few more restaurants and shops. All provide good Thai cuisine along with western food and ridiculously decent prices.
We booked a day trip through the hotel by speedboat to Phi Phi which was brilliant, definitely recommend it for 1800 baht each (£33) which included transfers to and from hotel.
All in all, really pleased with the whole stay there considering we didn't know much about the place beforehand and The Nakamanda was definitely a home from home. The standard of service by the staff make it a truly lovely place to stay leaving you to simply kick back and enjoy all that is on offer there. If we were to return to Krabi we would definitely stay there again.

Best three days in Thailand! We left here feeling absolutely refreshed.

Service was so very good... Staff was courteous and made sure we had everything we needed.
Their spa services were excellent. We went to the spa each day during our 3 day stay.
The location is stunning... Its by the beach and its amazing to sit there drinking in the sunsets!

Food was alright... Limited vegetarian options so i can't say i have sampled much on their menu.

We stayed on the top floor villa and were treated with lovely views of the resort and the water in the background. The rooms do call for some refurbishing but we enjoyed spending our time lounging on the patio so much that we did not care about the look of the room itself.

We ate twice at a restaurant nearby, gajanana... Pretty good indian food with many veggie options.

Overall, we loved our stay at this resort and highly recommend it for its excellent service.

Wonderful stay over Xmas and New year at the Nakamanda...very relaxing and the staff couldn't be more helpful - especially the pool guys and the ladies serving breakfast. Would recommend to anyone - it is quiet and away from the main drag which is what we wanted - not the best for teenagers as it is for mainly young families and couples but the sea and pool should be enough for most. Only small issue - especially for europeans - is that there is no 'free' option to just use the steam room - which was a pity, otherwise excellent stay all round

Room Tip: First floor bedrooms have better views

This is a nice and small resort with only 39 units. It is well designed even if one has to climb a number of stairs each day! Nothing to do with the Sheraton next door which has an absolutly hideous architecture but you can't see it from the nakamanda.
Rooms are comfortable but there is a lack of curtains (only shades but it doesn't block light well) which is most bothering as if light wakes you up... This is why I will only give *** to sleep quality.
Nice small restaurant by the beach at acceptable prices with a pretty decent wine list (I specially recommend their most reasonable Australian shiraz latitude 30) but service desperatly slow sometimes.
One person is very efficient: Khun Por (Miss Por), the Business manager.

Great place to relax, nice staff and very comfortable.
Food is good and reasonably priced as well.
Lovely place to have evening cocktails.
We were there for our honeymoon and had a great time. We took the Kho Pi Pi tour from here which was really good as well. No buzz to the place, but we'd just left Bangkok and liked how relaxed it was.
No real gym, but swimming in the pool and sea when tide is up is great.

A great get away spot. An excellent place to spend a few days relaxing. The restaurant by the beach served excellent food and the rooms were extremely nice. (If I ever get to remodel my bathroom I want it to look exactly like the one in our room.) I especially enjoyed the outside patio that each room had. I would recommend for a romantic get away and it seems it would also be well suited for a family - I noticed a lot of young families staying there when we were there. We leveraged the hotel spa and had a very relaxing experience. (Note: There are some other massage places literally right outside the hotel as well.)

We stayed at the Nakamanda for 5 nights as part of our honeymoon trip and were upgraded when we arrived to a pool garden villa (although we didn't use our plunge pool /outside area much as it was shaded). The hotel offers: clean large rooms, a huge pool, perfect beach to stroll up and down. The negatives of the hotel are: it is need of a good scrub and maintenance; It is tired looking. The restaurant is a great setting and they offer a good breakfast but do not expect anything special in the evening. The food is just average however Bann Thai restaurant across the road offers excellent food and at a great price. The hotel staff were friendly but the pool guy 'Book' was especially welcoming and helpful. Overall an average stay but all the other places we stayed in Thailand certainly made up for this hotel so come on Nakamanda raise the standard and don't 'sit on your laurels'! With a little bit of TLC of the building and rooms, employing a decent chef and a bit of staff training you will be back on track!
