All good Things about Nakamanda are already said by previous guests and all I can do is to confirm every one of them. We (myself, wife and Our baby) stayed here for 3 weeks in July/Aug.-14 and we enjoyed every minute of Our stay thanks to a very service minded managment and their staff. we were truly sad for leaving such a great Place and People, but we will surely keep in touch With some of the peple who gave us great service and wonderful stay.

Wish all Nakamanda staff all the best in the future and keep up the good work.

Warm regards

Ahmed, Suree and baby Adam.

Stayed for 4 nights and the hotel premises, room and service exceeded our expectations. We really wish we couldve stayed longer. We reached the hotel at around 10 am, and were greeted very polite staff with fresh wet towels and a cool welcome drink. Since check in is at 2 pm, they gave a clean room to relax and freshen up till then, which was very thoughtful. When we did finally get our room, I requested if they could give us a room with a better view, and they did. It was really beautiful, with its day bed, huge bathroom and with a tub with a skylight above it. There were separate wash basins for both. Special care had been taken to provide aloe vera gel (needed to prevent sun burns), a beach bag, beach chappals as well as an aroma candle in the room. The seating area , which is outside the room, had a clothes drying stand which was extremely useful to try bathing suits etc. there was a daybed there as well, as well as a table and a chair. umbrellas were also provided. ,There was also a bug repellent in the sitting area. The hotel property was extremely beautiful with its plants, and flowers , the lighting and hte general facade of the hotel. There is just one restaurant but the menu is extensive, even for vegetarians. The restaurant staff is extremely courteous and went out of their way to accede to our requests, and make our experience more enjoyable. After our second meal, they understood our preferences, and included them, without us asking for it. For example, we liked lukewarm water, not cold. So we always received lukewarm water to drink without us having to ask for it. They also made us a hot soup for us one day, which wasnt on the menu, because we had sore throats. Breakfast is also very good. They have the usual continental fare, in addition to the local thai breakfast items. The pool is beautiful, big and extremely clean . Again, the beach/pool staff is amazing. The best part was that the hotel provided free kayaks to use during high tide. Alhough the hotel does not have much of a beach, in low tide, you can just turn around the left corner and there is a beautiful massive beach that you can walk on. Hotel property apart, I could keep praising the hotel staff and it would still not be enough. Poh, Rich, Book, Lad, Fon etc, were superb. There are of course a lot of steps, but that is to be expected for a beach resort in Krabi, as it is a hilly terrain, and the lobbies of most hotels are on top, and the hotel premises, work their way down to the sea level. This also ensures that you can potentially get a sea view. We checked out nearby resorts like the Beyond resort and the Sheraton, during our stay. Nakamanda has the best rooms, more beautiful hotel premises and the pool by far. And the service of course is unparalleled across every hotel we have stayed at. The spa is excellent and has a special aloe vera massage which is really soothing to the skin after you have spent a day in the hot sun, visiting islands. It prevents skin burns. For the regular thai massages i suggest you visit the massage place opposite the resort. Excellent and very well priced. There is not much around resort, just a minimart, a handicrafts store and massage aprlours. You can either hire a bike from outside, or take the resort shuttle to go to ao nang, which is where all the action is. IF you jsut want to relax, there is no need to go anywhere and the resort is self contained, but if you really are keen on experiencing the ao nang market, then one trip to ao nang is enough. There are also long tailed boats which can take private trips to the various islands. There was just one negative - the gym is very tiny, with just one cross trainer and one cycle and one weights machine. the treadmill wasnt working, so we didnt use the gym.

Also, just word of advise for anyone coming to Nakamanda - The following has nothing to do with the hotel but with a tour operator opposite the main entrance called August Ventures which arranges tours for islands etc - DO NOT use that, as they have no regard for safety and will shamelessly put your life at risk and do not provide a clear picture of what we can expect from the tour. They took people kayaking in the ocean without a life jacket, and this included little boys who were too young to even hold the oar- how could they expect little boys to row against the force of he ocean. When people fought with the guide, he didnt apologize but in turn had the audacity to turn on people. So i just urge anyone to look after their own life and safety, and avoid these tours, since they definitely wont care.

Room Tip: Choose rooms ending with 02. 802, 1202 and 2202 have the best view of the sea/island.

Nakamanda was our first hotel on a three week trip to Thailand so expectations were high, as it was our first hotel of the holiday. We stayed for five nights in a sala residence and were happy with the quality, size and details provided with the room. Extra touches included a beach bag for use whilst at the hotel and plenty of bottled drinking water. We were told, if ever we wanted more just to call reception.

The pool at the hotel is fantastic, very large and there were plenty of sun beds so that you never felt overcrowded, when you needed that extra space. The pool guy, Book, is a credit to the team and always ensured that you were seated comfortably with iced water frequently topped up.

Breakfast was an excellent buffet with a very good selection of food choices and an egg station so you could have them made specifically to order. You could also choose lattes or cappuccinos as opposed to regular filter coffee, if you so wished.

The hotel is situated on a rocky part to the beach but it is a very easy walk to softer sand. We walked up to the other hotels and looking into the grounds were extremely glad we had chosen Nakamanda. The other hotels were large and lacked a soul that Nakamanda definitely has. It is a beautiful property with a unique boutique feel, so do book this hotel, if you prefer style over size!

In the evening we had drinks during Happy Hour (5pm til 7pm) with 30% off. This allowed us to enjoy a good Chardonnay at a fair price of approx £4 a glass (good wine can be very expensive in Thailand). My brother and his wife and child were not guests at the hotel but would meet us for drinks and were always welcomed by the staff.

All in all an excellent stay that kick started our holiday really positively! Thank you Nakamanda!

Room Tip: Ask for a high room for a possible sea view!

Can never understand why the self-centered and arrogant, educationally limited or downright stupidly well off insist on bringing children who require high maintence to spa resorts. Having been, usually reluctantly (for this very reason), to a number of spa resorts across Asia for a day or three at a time, I can only imagine these types of people get by in life by shouting, bullying and crying their way through all of life's little problems. Further, this seems now to be a truly international phenomenon: initially it was the Brits, then the Germans and Swedes, the French, Canadians and Americans; then the Australians and Arabs. Now, as if it's a kind of rite of passage for developing economies (along with poisoning the planet, despite having seen the harm this does), we have the Indians and Chinese getting in on the action and not just ruining everyone else's experience of the resort with their loud and uncouth children and demands, but making the staff's lives hell by treating them as virtual slaves.

Sadly, for a few days this was the case at Nakamandra, but happily the calamitous family from Shanghai left leaving the rest of us to exult in the friendly, courteous and relaxed nuance the Nakamanda offers. Along with all the other reviews that extol its virtues, I could go on about all the plants and well kept accommodation, but suffice to say these were excellent: and anyone who reads the very petulant reviews that complain about the curtains not being very private of a slight mark on the ceiling...get a life.

For us, though, the staff made the whole experience: nothing was too much trouble. Ever. Very Thai, very well done...except for the dinner. Breakfast: great. Lunch and dinner, however, not good. Packet fish cakes and tasteless farang oriented dishes mean that every day, come 1900 hrs, the restaurant was deserted for the street food on offer just outside the lobby area.

Oh, for those who wish to escape howling brats at resorts in Thailand, try Layana on Koh Lanta. No children allowed! But there are a lot of Swedes.

Room Tip: Avoid families and the upper storeys provide more privacy if you need it.

We stayed 2 nights and wished we could have stayed longer. I actually won a contest and the prize was a free 2 night stay at this hotel!! The effective date would not be for another month and approached the manager the next day if it would be possible to stay before we fly out. We were so happy that they accepted our coupon despite their right not to accept it for another month. For the short stay, the staff treated us like any other VIP and it was an amazing end to our Thailand trip.

PS. The beachside pool is designed to perfection and the cafe has an amazing view of the islands. Best location in town!

This was one of the most relaxing vacations I've had in a while, thanks to the Nakamanda. The property is beautiful with plenty of trees and quiet walkways. We stayed in one of the Sala Villas closer to the lobby but away from the street noise. We loved it! The sitting area is outdoors and, amidst the trees and plants, we felt like we were up in a tree house. Bathrooms are about the same size of the bedroom, and very clean. Great rooms overall.

There are a lot of stairs leading down to the pool / beach / restaurant area, but I personally enjoyed the walk. Although the pool area got crowded at times, the guests were mostly couples and small families who were pretty laid-back The only mild disturbance we had was the small construction project they were doing by the pool. As for the beach, it isn't the usual beach you get at other resorts. When the tide is low, the area in front of the hotel is flat sand on which you can walk. When the tide comes in, it becomes a beach. It was amazing! There's also a tiny island of trees in front of the hotel, which made the view very unique.

I was completely blown away by the service at the Nakamanda. The front desk staff gave us a very warm welcome, and all staff we encountered were always smiling and polite. Each time we sat in the lobby or library, a staff member would promptly serve us complimentary juice. And on our first visit to the pool, an attendant named Book introduced himself and welcomed any requests to make our stay comfortable. Terrific staff all around.

As for location, the Nakamanda is 15 minutes away from Ao Nang Beach by car. The taxi service is completely overpriced (500 baht per person one way!) and I would recommend getting a full day car service instead, or a motorbike if you can ride. The roads are quiet and traffic is slow, so motorbike is a relatively safe choice. The hotel is located around a few restaurants, massage spots, and a mini mart. We found a great restaurant called Sabai Ba Bar not too far away from the hotel (when you get out of the hotel, turn left and walk for about 20 minutes. Or take a car).

Overall, I will definitely return to Nakamanda on my next trip here. The property and staff truly cater to helping you relax and enjoy the peace of Krabi.

The smiles are the first thing which warmed us to the place. From the time the driver picked us up from the airport till we left the place, the smiles never seemed to cease. It is a beautiful property and the people make it even special. We were @ Nakamanda for our honeymoon and stayed at the Sala Villa with Hydropool. The resort has an old world charm. It is well maintained and is right next to the beach. We enjoyed the food from the "Kitchen" (that's the name of the restaurant at Nakamanda. One thing I have to mention is the service, its impeccable. We checked out on the last day as we went Island hopping and returned just to collect our luggage as we were shifting hotels, on our return they gave us a villa so we could change and relax. This was really sweet of them. They even dropped us off to the next resort instead of the airport drop. This really struck a chord with us and we hope to visit them soon. Thanks everyone @ Nakamanda. Especially Pasika and Sini. (We wanna name all of you but have forgotten) You guys are the best.

Room Tip: Take the sala villa with Hydropool. Your own pool, very private and It's almost like your own sp...
