The resort is peaceful and clean. Very nice bathroom. There's is only one restaurant and the food is very good. The staff are very polite and efficient. The resort is suitable for anyone who wants to get away from the crowd and busy city life. We had a good break there and would like to stay longer than 3 nights if possible.

We spent four nights in a Deluxe room and found it very difficult to leave. We loved the outdoor shower and bath and also the balcony with day bed overlooking the pool. Pat the resort manager and Sunny the resident manager along with their staff make you feel like you're part of their 'resort family'. The service at this resort is outstanding, by the end of our first day most of the smiling staff addressed us by our first names and knew our room number. By the middle of the second day they had our drinks order noted. This is a boutique resort so if you want to be busy all the time go somewhere else. In saying that, you can book very reasonably priced boat tours through reception. It's really not worth trying to bargain directly with boat owners as 1700 Baht will get you a long tail boat for as long as you want and takes you out to Hong Island and two other islands for the day. The resort also has a shuttle to Ao Nang three times a week for 200 Baht per person. I enjoyed our evening shopping in Ao Nang. It's very touristy as other reviews have said but hey, I was a tourist!
The beach is lovely and doesn't have any hawkers on it. No deck chairs or umbrellas are allowed on the beach so the resort puts huge bean bags out each day which are really comfy for a day in the sun. There is plenty of trees for shade if required.
The beach bar has Buy 1 Get 1 free during sunset!! The restaurant is great as you can order what you want even if it's not on the menu and the chef will prepare it for you if the ingredients are there. Try the banana roti for breakfast or the waffles with cherries!
Four days wasn't long enough at this resort, I'd stay seven nights next time at least. Prior to staying here we spent 3 nights at Koh Lanta and 3 at Phi Phi so to end our holiday at a more relaxing resort was wonderful. This is a perfect resort for honeymooners - expect to find flowers in your bath and a flower heart on your bed!
We can't wait to go back!

We picked the Tubkaak because my wife had been seduced by the view from the beach - which is every bit as spectacular as it seems.

However, whilst the resort is pitched as a chic boutique hotel (which it is, in terms of general ambiance) there are some serious shortcomings:

1) tiny bedrooms with minimal storage (unless one pays for the suites) - 40sq m, compared to the 115 sq m we'd had at our previous hotel

2) rooms very close to the pool (10 feet from the children's pool in our case!) with zero balcony/patio privacy

3) conflicts between bar activities and the restaurant, caused by both being in the same corner of the resort. It is difficult to have a romantic dinner when sat within 5 yards of a group of Aussies getting stuck into their 6th round of pre-dinner drinks!

4) apparent total lack of a child policy. The resort is set up to attract couples but, whilst that works well enough when your fellow guests are considerate, the relaxing atmosphere, gentle tinkling of water and birdsong around the pool can be ruined in an instant by a lively toddler......and virtually ALL toddlers are lively and vocal, even if their parents are keeping them reasonably well under control (as all but one were). At one point there were 6 young children staying - which was about 5 (or 6) too many, given the small size of the pool and beach...because there was no escape!

5) isolated location on the edge of a National Park. It is a 20 minute trip into Ao Nang (which is underwhelming), and they encourage residents to go into Ao Nang occasionally as the hotel's own restaurant can sometimes get booked out. There are no local alternatives within walking distance, save for a couple of other hotels (which we noticed some of the other guests were using!)

The fitness centre also looked very limited indeed and the wireless internet connection was erratic.

That said, we enjoyed our stay - and the staff we very good and helpful (even when I misunderstood the subtleties of the Happy Hour drinks deal). The quality of the food at dinner was excellent and we especially recommend the Asian set menu (which is THB1000 for two for residents, even though the menu says THB1400). My wife would go back, just for the excellent food and scenery......but I would definitely think twice. The whole site measures a mere 2.5 acres....and it just isn't big enough, even for a boutique hotel!

Since we have been reading good revieuws on tripadvisor we decided to stay in this hotel.
First of all it is to isolated, nothing to see in the neighbourhood, only a very nice beach and vieuw from the only restaurant, wich was just average ! Happy hour is not good, only very bad cocktails with a nice vieuw ! That is a pitty.
We had the bad-luck that our neighbours were very noisy ! The children were crying in the bad-tub and in bed during night time, result we couldn't sleep at all ! Very poor isolation.
The rooms are not very nice either.

After visiting many places in Thailand, we had a stay in Tubkaak for 2 nights before flynig back home. The location is really amazing and you feel like in a postcard with the sight from the beach and the restaurant. The rooms are in accordance with the idea we got from the many descriptions we had.
However, rooms do not offer the intimacy you might expect for such a category of hotel (our balcony was directly looking on the swimming pool).
The service is lacking some warm and authenticity (even if you try to speak a few words in Thai, they will answer you in English) and not as professional as you can expect .
The restaurant is expensive for a very classical thai cooking.
Last point, hotel is very isolated, so just after being 2 days there you feel bored (only one restaurant and one beach with only tanned tourists)

We stayed here for two weeks for our honeymoon and just loved it - did lots of activities (visiting islands, riding elephants, temples, offering to monks, markets etc) but mostly wanted to hang at the hotel, breakfasting by the sea, swimming, eating wonderful food, cocktails at sunset, walking along the beach after dinner, canoeing and being really pampered by the staff - who greet you by your name, remember the way you like food, welcome you back from trips with cold towels and water. Oh it was the best. I definitely want to go again! A massive thanks to all the staff at the Tubkaak.
Cheeky tip is there is beach massages right on the beach next to the hotel - cheap and wonderful!

Positives: This hotel really is amazing! It's the service & the quality of everything! The beds are HUGE!!! The shower was gorgeous, stones and pebbles, an outside bath - soooo romantic! Lovely setting for breakfast & dinner, jungle noises nature just on your doorstep. Dragonflies hurtling around the pool, you can hear monkeys as you sunbathe!

We finished our 2 week holiday here (after being to Chiang Mai, Phi Phi and Ao Nang) and we were glad to have somewhere to really wind down. Its not the place for a real drink up. Everyone was in bed by 10:30pm. We sat at tables on the beach surrounded by candles, drinking wine, and turned in to bed ourselves by 11:30pm!

If you want somewhere serene this is the place. If you want lots of different restaurants & bars to visit, I wouldn't stay here for more than 3 nights.

It was a perfect end to a perfect holiday!!! Beautiful!
