“Fabulous resort - one of the best!”
Reviewed 31 May 2013 via mobile

We stayed here at the end of our little Thailand jaunt as a treat to ourselves after some "flash packing" around the Krabi region, and what a treat it was!

The room was excellent, the pool relaxing and the beach was great with huge soft cushions to lounge on and watch the sun set with a cocktail.

The manager and staff where brilliant and really made us feel welcome.

If you are looking for a bit of Thai luxury - look no further than here.

Staying at the Tubkaak made us feel very special. The staff were very attentive yet observant of your privacy and the resort is amazing.

The location is a taxi ride from the hotel (who will supply a driver and air conditioned car for a small fee 1,200 TBH at time of writing) and on a quiet stretch of beach shared with neighbouring resorts (who you won't see unless you go for a walk along the beach).

There is everything you need on site, food, bar, spa, beach, pool - even a gift shop with presents for back home, sunscreen, hats, clothes, snacks and drinks. The staff are very helpful with suggesting excursions should you be interested and the manager Sunny seems to be a really nice guy.

We had an amazingly relaxing break in Krabi, all thanks to the team at Tubkaak!!

Room Tip: Seafront villas worth it if you can afford it - set in front of the other rooms you get the best sit...

My husband and I spent 4D3N at Tubkaak and had a very relaxing and enjoyable holiday. There are many positive reviews of this resort, so we would just like to add/emphasize a some points:

Pros
- Beautiful, clean beach with spectacular, spectacular sunsets. The restaurant tables come right up to the waters edge at high tide and it is wonderful to enjoy the scenery, sound of the waves and sea breeze, with a good book in hand. We didn't have any problems with the crabs, and found those that we saw to be cute and fascinating. Look out for the little holes and balls of sand they make on the beach.
- Outdoor rain shower head with excellent water pressure and responsive temperature control. Lovely to hear the birds chirping while you are showering!
- Great and attentive staff who speak good English. Mr Sunyadech the resident manager is very friendly man who is always ready with a smile.
- Restaurant food is very delicious and nicely presented. The banana pancakes, waffles, thai curries are highly recommended, my husband had several plates of the banana pancakes - it really is that good.
- Use of the kayak is FOC, some resorts along the beach charge.

Cons
- The restaurant food is expensive by Thai standards, but is comparable with the other hotel restaurants along the beach (and is in some cases, a little bit cheaper)
- I found the toiletries to be average compared to some of the spa resorts that we've stayed before, but this is a personal preference.
- We had a few power outages during our stay, which was perhaps due to the monsoon, but the hotel generators kept the critical things going. Air conditioning however was lost during these periods, so the rooms could get a bit warm.
- The rooms are generally small, but decent for a couple.
- There is some construction noise, but I personally found it to be not too intrusive. It was quite peaceful by the beach.
- The spa is very basic, but the quality of the massages is good (although again, expensive by Thai standards).

Tips
- If you like lounging outside your room, get the 2nd floor rooms as the balcony is larger than the outdoor space for the ground units. There is also more privacy in the 2nd floor rooms
- There are shuttles to Ao Nang where you can get cheaper massages and food, though this has to be weighed against the 200baht per head shuttle fare to/from the town.

All in all we enjoyed our stay at the Tubkaak and would consider visiting again, when their new villas are ready.

If you want seclusion, beauty, lush green, ocean view, warm ocean water for swimming, crystal clear water , beautiful pool, spa, great food, fantastic staff, then this is the place. Beautiful rooms, special unique bathrooms, , room service, fresh fruit to rooms most days. Great lattes, breakfast that has a little of everything. Huge fish ponds and fish to feed. We ate dinner a few times and the food was very good . Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Ocean view rooms are worth the extra.

We stayed here during April 2012 for a friend's wedding and it was beautiful. We had a lower ground floor unit next to the pool which made a spontaneous dip extremely accessible. It was like a world unto itself. Far enough away from the tourist traps to feel like you were in a world of your own. Obviously if you want to get out and about to Ao Nang for shopping, local restaurants and night life you can organise to go into town (about 20 mins drive). It's location with view of the Hong Islands was simply stunning. The food was wonderful, particularly the wedding party dinner on the beach - menu to die for :-) The staff were so friendly, helpful. Cooking classes, day trips, day spa. We couldn't recommend this resort highly enough. We were satisfied in every way and not a single complaint here.

We spent 7 nights for our last part of our honeymoon at the end of April. It is an amazing little resort, the surroundings are brilliant, every detail is well thought. Quiet, quaint, peaceful. We found it perfect to relax after our travelling in Malaysia and singapore. A bit expensive, yes, but worth every penny, we found it was faultless and the best hotel we have ever been to.

If you come from Krabi airport (which is really good and well organized) and stay at Tubkaak at least 5 nights they give you a complimentary taxi round trip to the airport, it's about 40 minutes.

We had a garden room and it was perfect for us: large kingsize bed, lovely decorations, private, very good internet connection (i even used it on the beach!) outside bath and shower, which was superb, It was a lot hotter than I thought and it was brilliant to have a shower outside, so it didn't steam up. You've got absolutely everything in the room so you don't need to bring anything with you (soaps, shampoo, toothbrush, cottonbuds, showercap, bathrobes, slippers, umbrellas, etc.). They put two complimentary bottles of water every day and they even give you flip flops when you arrive (far too big for me though!)

The resort is immersed in nature, so there are a few little animals, like frogs and strange lizards, but totally harmless. The surroundings is what makes this resort so special: the view when you walk around, have breakfast, lunch, dinner, etc. is stunning and priceless, so peaceful and beautiful.

Food and cocktails were really really good, my last curry, the panaeng was to die for. However it is rather expensive and they serve you quite small portions too. The two singers who were there every night was a lovely bonus, they were so good and made every night quite romantic.

Breakfast was amazing. The buffet was varied but not to my liking, however the live cooking was absolutely amazing, every morning we had roti, waffles and pancakes made for us, the cook was so patient! You must try roti with banana!

I used the swimming pool a couple of times, really good and has a jacuzzi in it as well, gorgeous surroundings and definitely a bit cooler than the sea water, which can get really hot as it is quite shallow.
Speaking of the beach and sea, there is often a strong low tide, which means you need to walk quite a while before finding some water! and the shore is covered in tiny little crabs, it's quite a sight.

We actually sunbathed only once in 8 days, water is rather shallow and you need to go really far to be able to use mask and snorkel. Definitely good for children, and couples as it is quite romantic to swim and play in the sea with such an amazing surroundings, but definitely not suitable for snorkelling.

They are building the pool villas, but I must say I hardly felt any disruption or noise.
It really is a secluded, peaceful and quiet location.

We went on lots of trips and i would say there were the best thing we did in Thailand: we went to Phang Nga bay (with james bond island, a buddist temple and the lovely muslim fishermen village), Phi Phi islands (stunning, it will wow you), Krabi islands tour (with the beautiful Poda island) and on an elephant trekking tour (i was reluctant, but it really was an amazing experience). All is very well organized by the hotel, you just need to book the day before you want to go on a trip. A taxi will pick you up from the hotel and wait for you when you get back at the pier and take you back to the hotel.
I suffer from car sickness and I must say that the roads around the hotel and ao nang are terrible, really twisty, but it was worth it (and there is no choice anyway)

Those trips are really good for snorkelling, sightseeing and culture. It is a pity that on some spots there are so many tourists you can hardly walk, and particularly tourists which do not respect nature and litter everywhere. Really a pity for such wonderful places.
Going on a speedboat and sitting on the front is definitely a must though!

On our very last day we were invited to a little buddhist ceremony inside the hotel, very interesting and from what Sunny says they do it every Friday. Do turn up, it is really inspiring.

One last mention for the staff, who are incredibly helpful, always smiling and nice. I can't thank them enough, particularly the lady at the boutique shop, who was lovely, and the restaurant staff who really went the extra mile to meet any request and make us feel comfortable.

Room Tip: garden room might be the cheapest, but we found it was perfect for us. The only thing missing maybe...

we stayed for one week at this beautiful hotel. this was our second time we stayed here and it was still perfect. good food, good personal service, it is nice that they remember our names.
the manager recognized us and she offered us a thai massage, this was an excellent massage.
can't wait to go back in 2 years and see the new pool villas.
only negative expensive wine, but that is little normal in thailand.

Room Tip: choose room with ocean view
