“Chill out paradise!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 January 2014

Beautiful location, tranquil and unspoilt, yet with every facility needed for a perfectrelaxation.
Loved the dicreet outside shower and bath area.

When, if ever, you get bored with the tranquility, take an exciting boat trip to the numerous islands for a day.
Alfresco dining an absolute deight with a superb range of delicately flavoured dishes. Great buffet breakfast, too.
Superb white sandy beach and warm shallow sea.

Just can't think of anything which would improve this wonderful retreat.

Room Tip: Ask for residence on the beach front. Superb, spacious two storey villas with two separate bedrooms...

We had a great stay at Tubkaak! We stayed here on our honeymoon.

Pros:
Delicious breakfast buffet
Private beach with comfy bean bags to lounge on and great view
Get a 400 baht 60 minute massage and buy drinks on the beach, which is much cheaper than at the resort
Clean rooms. They are on the smaller side, with an outdoor shower and tub.
Excellent service- rooms were cleaned promptly, fresh beach towels every morning and speedy room and bellhop service.
Isolation is good- if you see the crowds at some of the other beaches, you will appreciate it!
Lots of excursions to choose from

Cons:
200 baht each for a ride into town. The town is pretty small and we did get to try a yummy restaurant.
Wasn't really a con for us, but there's only 2 restaurants - Thai and Italian. We didn't try the Italian one.

Other:
We took a cooking class which was simple and straightforward. Made me feel like I could go home and easily recreate the dishes. Besides giving us the recipe, we got aprons and a certificate of completion which was a cute touch.

Stayed in room 138 across from the pool on the bottom floor. We didn't notice the construction.

I scheduled a private Yoga and Reiki session with Marina. Marina was an excellent instructor and the view was gorgeous.

We purchased the honeymoon special which included a transportation, massage, dinner and wine. The massage was nice, but we wish it was in the fancy open air spa and not a regular room. Dinner was a prefixed menu which was excellent and more than enough food.

Overall we really enjoyed the stay and would recommend it to anyone going to Krabi.

We stayed at the Tubkaak in early January 2014. I have to admit, we were initially a little put off by the isolation of this spot....until we took a boat tour of the Phi Phi islands. The contrast of the crowds on that boat tour to the perfect tranquility of the beach at Tubkaak made us into true believers! We decided to spend the rest of our time enjoying the lovely beach and generally taking it easy. We did take advantage of the shuttles into Ao Nang and Krabi Town for dinner, but we continued to count our blessings upon return to our lovely room and the friendly staff at the Tubkaak Boutique Resort.
As others have mentioned, it is the little touches like the well-stocked fridge and beach bag that make the guests feel very welcome. We also appreciated that soft music was playing when we first arrived at our room, and the room always seemed to smell great...like a spa, and not as if an air freshener had been liberally sprayed!
It is true that the shuttle fares are a bit steep, as are the hotel restaurant prices. So, know what you are getting into! If you choose this hotel, be prepared to stick around and enjoy what it has to offer...if you can embrace that, you will have an amazing time!
And please, order the coconut water at least once while you're here....and don't forget to scrape the delicious coconut out of its shell when you finish...you won't be disappointed!
My husband voted to give this place 4 stars (I gave it 5), but we couldn't give a 4.5, so I rounded up!

Pros: Beautiful and quiet place. Amazing views of the sea and cliffs from the beach. Restaurant also offers great views of the sea and beach. We were pleasantly surprised how big our suite was!
Cons: Beach was dirty - twigs and dead leaves all around. Western and Vegetarian food options were limited.

Room Tip: Book a sea-view room... It's worth it!

We stayed at Tubkaak in late November for our last stop on our honeymoon and it was great. We had the Tubkaak suite, which is the pool villa on the beach and it was amazing! Sunny is a great resort manager and very helpful and friendly. He recommended a restaurant for us in town and it was great! We did a couple of excursions through the resort which we were very impressed with. Take advantage of the happy hour as there's the most beautiful sunset every night!

Room Tip: On the beach is the best!

We can highly recommend this resort.
We had a seaview room, but all rooms are nicely embedded in a lush garden.
Every detail in the rooms and in the garden has been arranged with great care.
Their two beautiful restaurants (one Italian "Di Mare" and one Thai "Arundina") are both situated directly at the beach.
The quality of the food was in both delicious, but the Di Mare is even for a resort restaurant overpriced. Contrary to the Arundina you can not order local water, just Evian. That is simply not acceptable!
In The Arundina you can book a table directly in the sand - for 1,000 Baht extra...
But there are several other tables with a great view.
The Tubkaek beach is wonderful and the direct view on the Hong Islands is breathtaking!
This is not the case for the resorts lying south of Tupkaek beach.
The water can recede quite far at low tide, but you can still swim. There are no rocks in the water in front of the hotel, so you can easily walk out to reach the water.
Staff has been very nice except for at the ladies at the reception. Airport shuttle is quite expensive at 1,200 baht, so try to find other people to share the minivan.
This resort is perfect for relaxing, but Bear in mind that there is no village, no shops, nor motorbike rentals nearby, so you are pretty much depending upon the hotel. But if that is less of a concern for you, then you a great hotel at a really lovely beach.
