My wife was completely charmed by this place from the moment we arrived. I was a little shocked by its remote location (and one does need a taxi to get to anywhere else) but the Tubkaak certainly gets under the skin and is a place to remember fondly for a long time.
Breakfast is taken at tables set well apart in the garden and virtually on the beach where the view of the large rock stacks offshore is worth a place on the front page of any travel brochure. We had good dinners here and pre dinner drinks as the sun set in front of us.
Some reviewers have said the drinks prices were excessive and greedy due to the remote location. To give some context, whilst the prices are not back street dive cheap, we thought they compared well with British hotels.
The swimming pool and garden are lovely and were never crowded during our stay.
We had a basic room and it was really pleasant - we would have no wish to move upscale if we visited again. The large bathroom including a bath and shower area "outdoors" was very special.
The staff were all very anxious to please.

This was a dream resort. The grounds were a tropical oasis, the room was beautifully done, even had a sunken bathtub and separate shower - both outside our bathroom and very private. So fun to soak in the spa tub in the outdoors! They provided a large beach bag with beach towels, robes and flip flops! We saw many breathtaking sunsets from the beach. There were Long Tail Boats you could hire from the beach to go to the nearby islands. The only negative maybe for some people was that it was not in town, So if you're looking for other things to do/restaurants - you had to take a taxi or take their 1x daily free shuttle service. The nearest town was 30 minutes away (plenty of souvenir shops/restaurants/massage parlors there) Being a resort, additional services were a bit pricey for Thailand. We saw Bangkok and Chiang Mai, & were very happy to chose this top notch resort to wind down before our long trip home. It was so relaxing and beautiful.

This resort was our last stop during our two week trip around Thailand. We stayed in many beautiful places and was not disappointed when we arrived at our last resort of our holiday. We stayed in a ground floor poolside room and it was lovely. I can't understand why there are comments stating this resort is dirty and not very private. We were right next to the pool side but found it very private and very clean. The pool was clean and very peaceful. This is not a big resort so you are only ever surrounded by two or three couple at the most at any time. Our room was fresh and clean with plenty of toiletries and clean towels at all times, plus a topped up mini bar which is always a bonus. The beach is by far the nicest on the small stretch of sand that accommodates a handful of other resorts across the stretch beach, but as Tubkaak have the nicest stretch you barely see any of those guests. The sunsets are just beautiful, and at happy hour it is the perfect time to make the most of a cool drink watching the sun go down on the oversized cushion style bean bags provided. There are two restaurants but we only ate in the thai one. We didn't really fancy Italian. Food is a little on the expensive side in comparison to outside the resort, but when you stay in 5star accommodation I think it's safe to say you should expect that. No matter what country you visit. The staff are friendly and will do all they can to help so no complaints about anything from us. Overall we had an amazing time and are planning go back again next year.

Room Tip: I can't comment on the other rooms, but ours was great! Ground floor, next to the pool, outdoor...

Stunning scenery, great design in beach pool Villa and resort facilities, professional and careful staff; great food at Thai restaurant "The Arundina" and at italian restaurant "Di Mare" as well.
A precious jewel in the amazing Andaman sea.

In a quick sentence, this place was amazing.

We stayed from the 4th April for 7 nights. My partner and I are 22 and 23 and every year we try and find a holiday that is relaxing, exotic and a little luxurious, this holiday was the first holiday we have both come away from happy and wanting to go back time and time again.

Room: 5/5 After toying with paying extra for a little more space we decided to just go for the standard room under the promise that if we weren't satisfied we'd upgrade when we got there. However the standard rooms are really surprising. They are much bigger than they seem on the website, the pictures really don't do them justice, we had oodles of space for the two of us. Very stylish rooms with everything you would need and more. The outside bathroom was a lovely quirk and the shower was perfect every time. We were in room 114, great location, super quiet surroundings and we even had a sea view! (we were directly behind the "Seaview Rooms" but just off to the side enough to have a view of the sea only disrupted by the trees)

Food: Breakfast was included and it was great, lots of options and variations from day to day. Sitting in the restaurant looking out to the islands surrounded by a slight morning mist is something you never got bored of. Definitely get your omelettes made in the morning we lived off these, don't forget your banana Roti and pancakes to finish off. Delicious!
As a lot of the other reviews have said the restaurants are not priced as cheap as you would expect in Thailand, but this didn't spoil our trip, in fact in the case of the Thai restaurant this probably added to our experience. The Thai set Menu's were so reasonably priced, in comparison to ordering what you wanted, we decided to give it a go and found ourselves trying things we wouldn't normally have looked twice at. Give it a go! We are by no means adventurous eaters but really enjoyed this.

Excursions: 4/5 We didn't really know what we wanted to do when we got there so we spent quite a bit of time seeing what the hotel recommended. In contrast to the food prices, the excursions were very reasonably priced. We did a half day Kayaking trip that we thoroughly enjoyed. An early morning long tail boat trip (which you hop in from the hotels private beach) to Hong Island, which was great until about 11/12 when it started to get really busy, but still a very beautiful place full of wildlife, really worth a visit. We did an elephant trek which was awful. We warned the hotel that this trip was not what was advertised in the booklet which they were surprised to hear and were going to look into it. We also did a full day Kayaking trip through some caves and again this was amazing.

Pool & Beach: 5/5 The pool was the perfect temperature, I'm a bit of a wimp when it comes to cold water and I found this pool spot on! We didn't really use the pool much because the beach was so lovely, but it was a very clean well looked after pool. The BEACH! The beach was great, we got into a nice routine of getting up early, doing some sightseeing and coming back to the Tubkaak and hitting the beach for a lazy afternoon from 3. Cocktail happy hour was 5:30-6:30 and this was the perfect time to watch the sunset. The water was so warm, I've never been keen on swimming in the sea, I live near a very cold very dirty beach and it put me right off, but I swam in this sea every day. If you wander up and down the beach you'll soon find out why it's called Krabi!

Cleanliness: 5/5 Room was tended to THREE TIMES A DAY, it was cleaned in the morning. We then had fresh beach towels in the afternoon, and then the bed was turned down before bed. The pathways and green areas of the hotel we're very groomed and swept every morning and the beach was cleaned and swept as well.

Service: As a young couple it's not unusual for us to receive age discrimination and unfavourable treatment on holiday. We've always found that in the past when staying in 4/5* hotels we have been shoved in the dirtier, noisier and older parts of hotels and restaurants, with the 40+ age groups seemingly getting the better seats, quicker service, nicer rooms etc... We came to the conclusion four holidays ago that due to our age and lack of children in tow many establishments assume we will be rowdy and disruptive. HOWEVER, we'd never been to Thailand before. Not one person at the Tubkaak made us feel unwelcome, in fact we were pretty much treat like royalty. We believe in tipping on holiday regardless but the service was so good we were happy to tip more! We went for a thai massage at the spa which was nice, but we were lead to a room in a block much like the guest rooms blocks instead of the funky wooden huts on the website. On our last night we arrived at the Thai Restaurant to find they had set us a romantic candle-lit private table on the beach that neither of us had requested so it was a total surprise. The manager actually showed us to our seat and told us it was their treat for us. Then when we got back to the room they had ran us a bath in the amazing outdoor bath and filled it with white petals as well. We even got a small clay elephant as a gift when we were leaving.

This hotel was above and beyond our expectations, the only problem I had was not the hotel's fault. On our second to last day two families with small children arrived at the hotel. This wasn't a massive problem for us on this day as we spend the entire day out on a Kayaking trip, however our last day at the hotel we had planned to spend it lazing around the hotel beach relaxing which was spoilt by a young baby constantly crying and a woman trying to control her wayward 3/4 year old. Lots of shouting, lots of noise and just generally spoiling the atmosphere that makes the Tubkaak so special. If the children had been well behaved it might not have been so noticeable but in this case they certainly were not.

It was surprising to see the children there as this is not a child friendly resort, it even says so on the website. It's very small and quiet and incredibly tailored to adults. The pool is deep and only has a small shallow area. There's no kids club and no climbing frames etc... there are steep steps and ponds everywhere. I LOVED the look and feel of the resort but it baffled me to see a family with small children there. I think they may have been there for a wedding as my partner said he'd heard that mentioned.

In all this spot works as an adult only resort. The peace and quiet and the surroundings play a big part in making this place so magical. I know the Tubkaak is currently expanding and adding 19 new pool villas that I can only assume will attract more families. I can only hope that the Tubkaak manages to stay the as the quiet little haven that it is now because I feel this is an integral part of making this place work so well.

Room Tip: For special occasions treat yourself to a sea view room, otherwise the standard ones are fine. Pool...

Room: We booked Laurel suite for 3 nights. Spacious, two toilets, shower both inside and outside. Nice comfy big bed, good quality TV's, Nespresso machine (1 pod left a day! Could have done with 2 per person) comfy day bed/sofa in second room. However, the suite was very dark, there were so so many lights and switches, it took ages to figure them out and have the light we actually required on. Even with all re lights on it was too dark. The turn down service good but I would have liked actual bed turning down, another coffee pod, just wasn't that good. Outside bath quirky nothing that amazing.

Location: Amazing, beautiful beach, views. We were not fazed with its location and didn't venture off site for food.

Restaurant: lovely, prices slightly more compared to most other non western hotels in Thailand, but still no major issues. Food was tasty, and lovely choice. Staff in restaurant were professional and welcoming.

Pool: not enough sun beds at all. Nice pool though, jacuzzi not working though. No bar device around pool, disappointing.

Beach: spectacular, nice comfy bean bags to lay on and relax. Only thing is it was difficult to get drinks served to us, always had to go and find staff.

On the whole: a lovely relaxing three days, worth the money but would possibly not bother with the Laurel suite.

We booked a night at this resort because the next morning we were flying to Bangkok to begin the journey home. We had read previous reviews and all had seemed positive.

The hotel itself is lovely. Very pretty and quiet but quite small compared to where we came from which was Outrigger on Phi Phi Don (go there, it was awesome)! The rooms are clean and designed well - bed was super comfy. Although that's where the luxury kind of stopped for me. As nice as the rooms are; you'd think they'd have more privacy but it's really limited. The Thai restaurant was okay but extremely over priced. The beach was okay but no lounge chairs or umbrellas. There's only one pool and it got busy quickly. You get 4 bottles of water a day when other resorts offered all complimentary. The spa was average to poor. I had a mani/pedi since it was the end of my trip and my feet were a bit mangled. No buffing, foot massage or scrubbing - which I found very strange. The woman seemed very rushed to just get me in and out even though the spa was not busy. Would not let me sit in the a/c and let my nails dry...it was so humid outside that I was worried they would get ruined but still, I was asked to move.

Sat in the lobby for more than an hour since I had to check out but my taxi to the airport wasn't coming for a few hours. Never once I was I offered water or anything by the employees working the reception desk. Also, our bags were not up in a secure area with everyone else's but sitting in the middle of a common area (on another floor) where anyone could have taken them.

This resort is pretty overrated, in my opinion. There's no real night life and after spending a week on Phi Phi Don - this one just didn't deliver to the same expectations. It's too small, boring and isolated from the locals. Just not our thing.
